My Favorite Day of the Year
My birthday is definitely my favorite day of the whole year! I look forward to it for months and get so excited as it gets closer. When I wake up on my birthday morning, the first thing I do is run into my parents' room and jump on their bed yelling "It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" Then they give me a big hug and wish me a happy birthday.
After that, I race downstairs to see if there are any presents waiting for me. My parents always wrap them up with pretty paper and bows. I tear through the wrapping as fast as I can to see what awesome toys or games I got. Last year I got a huge Lego set that took me forever to put together. This year, I'm hoping for that new video game system everyone has been talking about!
Once I've checked out all my presents, it's time for the next tradition - my birthday breakfast! My mom makes me whatever special breakfast I want. Sometimes I get pancakes shaped like
my favorite cartoon characters with whipped cream and sprinkles on top. Other times I'll ask for chocolate chip waffles or cinnamon rolls. One year I even asked for a big bowl of ice cream for breakfast...and she let me have it! My parents spoil me rotten on my birthday.
After breakfast, I get dressed up in my favorite outfit. I have this one shirt that's bright green with a picture of a dragon breathing fire that I love to wear. Then my parents take me out for the day to do whatever I want! Sometimes we'll go to an amusement park and ride all the biggest, scariest roller coasters. Other years we've gone to the city and seen a play or musical. Last birthday we spent the whole day at the science museum since I was really into experiments and chemistry at the time. This year, I think I'd like to go to the zoo and see all the cool new baby animals that were just born.
No matter what we do that day, we always stop somewhere fun for my birthday lunch. Pretty much any restaurant is fair game since it's my special day. We'll usually get pizza from my favorite place that makes these crazy dessert pizzas loaded with Oreos and gummy worms. Or sometimes we'll go to a diner and I'll get a massive hamburger, fries, and a thick milkshake. My
parents don't let me eat stuff like that very often, so it's an extra treat on my birthday!
Once we're done with the day's activities and have had my birthday dinner (which is also my choice), it's time for the best part - cake and ice cream! My parents always get me a huge cake from my favorite bakery. One year it was shaped like a rocket ship, another time it looked like a giant teddy bear. The flavors and decorations are different every year, but it's always delicious. We sing "Happy Birthday", I blow out the candles while making a wish, and then I dig into that first sweet slice of cake. After the cake, we'll have bowls of ice cream too...double dessert!
At the end of the night, I'm completely stuffed and exhausted from the busy day. I flop onto the couch feeling happy and so loved. My parents give me one last birthday hug and kiss before I head up to bed, tummy full of sweets. As I'm falling asleep, I think about how lucky I am to have such a fun birthday every year. I can't wait to see what adventures and presents next year's birthday will bring! It's definitely the best day of the whole year for me.

My Birthday - The Best Day of the Year!
My birthday is the best day of the whole year! I look forward to it for months and months. As soon as my birthday is over, I start counting down the days until the next one. I love everything about my birthday - the presents, the cake, the specialtreatment, and most importantly, celebrating another year of life with my family and friends.
The days leading up to my birthday are full of excitement and anticipation. I make sure to tell everyone - my parents, teachers, friends, even the mailman! I drop not-so-subtle hints about what kinds of presents I'm hoping for this year. My parents just smile and nod, already having bought my gifts weeks ago while I wasn't looking.
The night before my birthday, I can hardly sleep a wink. My mind races with thoughts of what amazing surprises and fun tomorrow will bring. I toss and turn, watching the bright red numbers on my digital clock slowly click over to the next minute. Is it time to wake up yet? Just a few more hours...
I'm usually one of the first kids awake at school on my birthday. I excitedly share the news with my classmates, who return the enthusiasm with a cheerful chorus of "Happy Birthday!" My teacher has a special birthday ritual for each
student - maybe I'll get to wear the goofy birthday crown or be the line leader for the day.
The hours at school seem to drag on extra slowly, my eyes continually drifting towards the clock. I find it hard to focus, eager to just get home and start my birthday celebration! I smile proudly each time another teacher or administrator wishes me a happy birthday in the hallway. I feel like a mini-celebrity for the day.
Finally the bell rings and it's time to head home. Maybe my parents will have streamed ribbons and balloons everywhere like they did last year! I can smell the delicious aroma of whatever special birthday dinner has been cooking all day long. As soon as I walk through that door, the party officially begins.
First things first: Presents! I can never decide which I want to open first - the biggest box, the heaviest one, or maybe I'll save the best for last. I tear through the wrapping paper like a tornado, finding each gift more amazing than the last - video games, books, toys, clothes. My parents always remind me to take my time and savor the moment, but I can't help it, I'm just too excited!
After the gift frenzy dies down, it's time for the main event: birthday cake! Thick, gooey frosting and layers of rich cake, with
the flickering glow of candles on top. I take a deep breath, make a wish, and blow them all out in one big puff of smoke. Everybody cheers and claps as I dig the fork into that first delicious slice. Mmm, there's nothing better than birthday cake!
Evenings may vary year to year - sometimes we go out for a special birthday dinner, other times we host a party with games, food, and friends at our house. No matter what, it's sure to be full of fun and laughter. I get to stay up way past my normal bedtime, basking in the birthday glory.
When I finally do crawl into bed at night, I'm utterly exhausted but deeply content. I clutch my new stuffed animal or video game, already dreaming of next year's celebration. Birthdays are proof that you're another year bigger, another year smarter, and another year wiser. I can't wait to see what amazing things the new year ahead has in store!
As I gradually get older, birthdays may lose a little bit of their magic and excitement. Pretty soon I'll be a mature, calm adult who doesn't get quite so giddy about the day. But for now, as a kid, my birthday is the most wonderfully over-the-top,
sugar-filled, present-stocked celebration of the year. I'll enjoy every minute of this childhood tradition while it lasts!

My Favorite Day of the Year - My Birthday!
My birthday is my absolute favorite day of the whole year! I get so excited just thinking about it. From the moment I wake up on my birthday morning, I know it's going to be a really special day.
The very first thing I do is run into my parents' bedroom and jump on their bed yelling "It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" Even though they pretend to be sleepy, I know they are just as excited as me. Dad always gives me a big bear hug and Mom smothers me with kisses.
After they are finally awake, we go to the kitchen for birthday breakfast. Mom makes my favorite - chocolate chip pancakes! She stacks them super high with pat of butter and syrup dripping down the sides. Yum! While we eat, Dad puts a birthday hat on my head. It's always a fun character like a clown or a dinosaur.
The next thing I do is rip open my birthday presents! I'm not really sure which is more exciting - getting to tear off the wrapping paper or seeing what's actually inside. Mom and Dad get me some practical things like clothes and books. But the best
presents are always the toys and games from my grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins!
Once all the gifts are opened, it's time to get ready for school. I put on a fresh new outfit from my birthday clothes. And of course, I make sure to wear my favorite sneakers that light up with every step. I grab my backpack and lunchbox which Mom always decorates with birthday stickers and drawings.
At school, I can't wait to hand out goody bags to my classmates. I picked out tiny toys and candy to put inside. The teacher always lets me be the line leader and do special jobs like handing out papers. I get lots of happy birthday wishes from my friends and teachers. I even get to wear a birthday crown or badge that says "It's My Birthday!"
At lunch time, I get to enjoy my favorite birthday lunch that Mom packed for me - a peanut butter and jelly sandwich shaped like a star, salt and vinegar chips, an apple sauce squeeze pouch, and a chocolate brownie. The lunch ladies always sing me the Happy Birthday song too. So much fun!
When I get home from school, I'm excited because it's finally time for my birthday party! Mom hangs up colorful balloon arches and Dad blows up even more balloons to decorate. My aunts, uncles, cousins and friends start arriving soon after.
We play fun party games like Pin the Tail on the Donkey and musical chairs. There are also awesome activities like a bouncy castle, face painting, and even a magician! I get to pick the party snacks like pizza, chicken nuggets, veggies and my favorite - a candy bar! There's always fun music playing that we can dance to.
The best part is when it's time to bring out the birthday cake! This year's cake is designed to look like a giant racecar. It has red frosting for the body, black decorations for the wheels, and a golden candle for the number showing my new age. I get to make a wish and blow out all the candles in one big huff.
After devouring my cake and opening more gifts from my friends, we watch a movie together while snuggling in sleeping bags and blankets. We always pick something silly and fun. This year it's one of my favorites - The Cat in the Hat!
Finally, after all the excitement, I'm completely tuckered out.
I snuggle up with my brand new plush puppy toy that I got from my aunt and uncle. Mom and Dad tuck me in and I drift off to sleep, dreaming happy thoughts about my wonderful birthday. I can't wait to do it all over again next year!。
