e.g. ①He used to live in this small village. 他曾经住在这个小村子里。 ②He used not to live in this small village = He didn’t use to live in this small village. 他过去不曾住在这个小村子里。 ③Used he to live in this small village? =Did he use to live in this small village? 他曾经住在这个小村子里吗？

Language points
If neither of these things works, just leave your friend alone. leave...alone 让……独自留下；不打扰；不碰；不移动 leave sb.alone相当于leave sb.by oneself “把某人单独留下”。 e.g. Don't leave your child alone in the bathroom.

动副短语，接名词，可放两边；接代词，放中间；也可以接从句 e.g. I can’t figure out what he is trying to say.
