二、引导主语从句的连接词 引导主语从句的连接词有三类：从属连词、连接代词和连接副词。 1．连接词 that 和 whether/if (1)that 在从句中不充当句子成分，也无意义，但不可省略。 That she became a famous author made her parents very happy. 她成为了一名知名作家，这使她的父母非常高兴。 That China will become more powerful is certain. 中国将变得更加强大是确定无疑的。

(2)whether 在从句中不充当句子成分，意为“是否”。 Whether we go there by train or by air makes no difference. 我们乘火车还是乘飞机去那儿没有什么差别。 Whether life exists on other planets is not clear. 其他星球上是否存在生命还不清楚。 名师点津：(1)that 在名词性从句中不充当任何成分，无词义，只起连接作用。 谓语用第三人称单数。 (2)whether 在从句中不充当任何成分,起连接作用，意为“是否”,不可省略。
