第一部分 选修六 Module 1Ⅰ.阅读理解A(2015·宁夏银川高三三模)导学号 02280779 Many years ago,my dad was facing a serious heart condition. He was unable to do a steady job.He fell suddenly ill and had to be admitted to the hospital. He wanted to do something to keep himself busy, so he decided to volunteer at the local children's hospital. My dad loved kids.It was the perfect job for him.He ended up working with the seriously ill children. He would talk, play, and do arts with them. One of his kids was a girl with a rare disease that paralyzed(瘫痪)her from the neck down. She couldn't do anything, and she was very depressed. My dad decided to try to help her.He started visiting her in her room, bringing paints, brushes and paper. He stood the paper up,put the paintbrush in his mouth and began to paint. He didn't use his hands at all.All the while he would tell her, “See,you can do anything you set your mind to.''At the end of the day, she began to paint using her mouth, and she and my dad became friends.Soon after, the little girl was sent home because the doctors felt there was nothing else they could do for her.My dad also left the children's hospital for a little while because he became ill. Some time later after my dad had recovered and returned to work,in came the little girl who had been paralyzed and only this time she was walking. She ran straight over to my dad and hugged him really tight. She gave him a picture she had done using her hands. At the bottom it read:”Thank you for helping me walk.''My dad would cry every time he told US this story and so would we.He would say sometimes love is more powerful than doctor, and my dad—who died just a few months after the little girl gave the picture—loved every single child in that hospital.语篇解读:这是一篇记叙文。

限时规范练26(选修6Unit1)核心素养关键词:培养学生人与社会、了解文化艺术的素养能力意识一、阅读理解A“You know, the soft subjects,” says the boy in maths,“the easy ones:the stupid girls at the bottom take them.Like dance. It shouldn’t even be a subject.” We’re choosing subjects for our A-level taster day at school.I see the raised eyebrows when I explain two of my GCSE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) choices are dance and drama.I was told by advisers that dance and drama wouldn’t help me to get a suitable career. My friends told me I’d get bored of dance and switch to science within the first month. But taking GCSE dance was the best decision I ever made.Dance gives me something to pour my head and heart into.It gives me a feeling of belonging, creativity, security and freedom. The education secretary Nicky Morgan has put emphasis on science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM),saying that students who focus on the arts risk their careers.Stopping young people from expressing themselves at such a young age is not doingthem any favours.Perhaps Nicky Morgan has forgotten to open the door of having a drive to study that subject day in,day out.It shouldn’t matter what that subject is.I don’t doubt the influence that STEM subjects can have on the people that love them. But to force children into one field is cruel. As much as I try,I’m not good at and don’t love physics, biology or maths.I don’t want a career in these areas. There has been a decrease in the number of state schools offering arts subjects taught by specialist teachers.I can’t even imagine how it feels to be told that you don’t teach a “real subject” by an 8-year-old boy.To the teachers, the parents, the government I say:Let children make their own decisions.Let them live in the present.Let them have a real, unlimited education.1.How does the boy in maths feel about dance?eless.B.Difficult.C.Beautiful.D.Important.2.After the author took GCSE dance, she .A.lost interest in itB.kept her mind on itC.turned to other subjectsD.struggled with her lessons3.What do we know about Nicky Morgan?A.She encourages students to learn soft subjects.B.She suggests students take a risk in their careers.C.She underlines the importance of STEM subjects.D.She allows students to express themselves freely.4.What’s the present situation of arts subjects?A.They attract much attention worldwide.B.They are taught by non-professionals.C.They are considered less important.D.They have made great progress.BHave you ever caught yourself saying,“I hate small talk!” the minute you walk into a party? If so,you might be an introvert (内向的人).Introverts hate to chat about “small” subjects with people.Theyare fine when you talk one on one but seem to get lost in the crowd when there’s a group around. If you’re talking to an introvert, you might find that your first few conversations go one of two ways.Either they’ll seem to get bored and not say much or they’ll seem to skate over small talk in favor of more in-depth topics. What you need to know is that the introvert is not being rude. It’s just that they don’t like small talk. Here’s why.Small talk serves as a gateway toward deeper conversation. Some introverts don’t realize that small talk will actually help them get to the bigger topics. You don’t need to stay on small talkforever. However, sometimes introverts feel that even the short amount of time it takes to get into the real conversation is a waste oftime.Small talk is very fast.Someone says something and this should be followed up with a quick response. But introverts like to chew on their words before saying them aloud. Before they answer, they’ll mull over different thoughts.Small talk by its very nature invites more people to join in.The more people who join the conversation, the more the introvert willtend to step back.As a result, they’ll be quiet.Small talk is about throwing out subjects in the hope that one or more of them can be turned into a common point of interest. The listening involved with small talk is not in-depth.The purpose is about listening “lightly” so you can figure out the right topics to spend some time on.Introverts tend to be great listeners, but they use active listening rather than light listening. This makes them wonderful friends, but can also make it difficult for new people to understand why they’re so quiet.5.How do introverts respond to a chat?A.They try to avoid it.B.They get excited about it.C.They give it their full attention.D.They focus on unimportant topics.6.What do we know about small talk?A.It goes slowly.B.It costs people a lot of time.C.It contributes to deeper topics.D.It provides much useful information.7.What does the underlined phrase “mull over” in Paragraph 3 probably mean?A.Give up.B.Think over.C.Write down.D.Forget about.8.How can we become a good talker in small conversations?A.Figure out the deep meaning of questions.B.Think twice before answering questions.C.Try to find shared topics.D.Be a quiet listener.二、完形填空On a cold afternoon in January 2015,Yesenia Diosdado,11,got off a school bus in Lenexa,Kansas, near the apartment building where she lives with her family. When 高考人教版选修(6)一轮测试英语试卷(解析版)一、阅读理解详细信息1.难度:中等Art robbery and art forgery (仿造) are both major themes in crime movies and literature. In the 2012 comedy movie Gambit, British actor Colin Firth plays an art curator who cheats his abusive boss into buying a fake Monet. In reality, art crimes are no less interesting and exciting.According to The New York Times, over the past 15 years, Glafira Rosales fooled two local commercial art galleries into buying 63 false works of art for more than $30 million. She passed off fake paintings as works by 20th century modernist masters such as American artists Mark Rothko and Jackson Pollock. But in fact, these so called “newly discovered works” were all produced by a single man, a Chinese immigrant named Qian Peishen. The art world was shocked by Rosales' deception. But to the public, it was amusing and most satisfying to see wealthy people get tricked. So what decides the value of a piece of art? Is it beauty? Is it the artist's talent and craftsmanship? Or is it just because the artist is famous? We should take beauty out. If the buyers were buying paintings only for their beauty, they'll be content displaying good fakes on their walls. They wouldn't be so upset when a forgery is exposed. The art market claims that great artists are inimitable, and that this inimitability justifies the absurd price of their works. We can't deny that most famous artists are good at what they do, but forgers like Qian show that their works are imitable.Otherwise, the difference between the original and the copycats would be obvious and Rosales would not be able to fool anyone.According to an article in the Economist, expensive paintings are what economists call positional goods. They are valuable because other people can't have them. With other goods, a higher price reduces demand. But art turns down the laws of economics. “When the goods that is really being purchased is evidence that the buyer has paid a lot, price increases cause demand to boom,” explained the article. That's why scarcity and authenticity are so important in the art market.Artists sometimes forget this.Demien Hirst, the British pop artist, is famous for his spot paintings. But they dropped in value when it became clear that they had been produced in quantities so vast that nobody knew how many were out there. The art market lost faith in these paintings because no one could be sure which of them were authentic and which were fake.1.The first paragraph is meant to tell the readers that ________.A.movies and literature will be popular with art involved in themB.art crimes are as interesting and exciting in reality as in moviesC.Gambit is a good movie with art forgery as the major themeD.real art crime in reality can be adapted into popular films2.Who is amused and satisfied to see the rich buy forged works of art?A.The public.B.Glafira Rosales.C.Qian Peishen.D.Mark Rothlo and Jackson Pollock.3.What kind of art buyers should not be unhappy with its high prices when a forgery is exposed according to the author?A.Those who buy only for its beauty.B.Those who buy for its inimitability.C.Those who 'buy for its authenticity.D.Those who buy for its scarcity.4.What is the law of economics theory behind art goods according to the economists?A.They are valuable goods.B.High prices reduce the demand of art goods.C.High prices increase the demand of art goods.D.They are produced in quantities to satisfy people.详细信息2.难度:中等Nuclear power's danger to health, safety, and even life itself can be summed up in one word: radiation.Nuclear radiation has a certain mystery about it, partly because it cannot be detected by human senses. It can't be seen or heard, or touched or tasted, even though it may be all around us. There are other things like that. For example, radio waves are all around us but we can't detect them, sense them, without a radio receiver. Similarly, we can't sense radioactivity without a radiation detector. But unlike common radio waves, nuclear radiation is not harmless to human beings and other living things. At very high levels, radiation can kill an animal or human being immediately by killing masses of cells in vital organs. But even the lowest levels can do serious damage. There is no levels of radiation that is completely safe. If the radiation does not hit anything important, the damage may not be serious. This is the case when only a few cells are hit, and if they are killed immediately. Your body will replace the dead cells with healthy ones. But if the few cells are only damaged, and if they reproduce themselves, you may be in trouble. They can grow into cancer. Sometimes this does not show up for many years. This is another reason for some of the mystery about nuclear radiation. Serious damage can be done without the victim being aware at the time that damage has occurred. A person can be irradiated(辐射)and feel fine, then die for cancer five, ten, or twenty years later as a result. Or a child can be born weak as a result of radiation absorbed by its grandparents.Radiation can hurt us. We must know the truth.1.Which of the following statements is true?A.Nuclear radiation is just like common radio waves.B.Nuclear radiation can cause cancer to human beings.C.Nuclear radiation can be detected by human senses.D.Nuclear radiation can be safe to human beings if its level is low.2.How can nuclear radiation kill an animal?A.By damaging its heart.B.By killing a few cells.C.By hitting any place in its body.D.By killing many cells in important organs.3.If a human being is hit by nuclear radiation, he may __________.A.die of cancer after many yearsB.die immediatelyC.have a child who may be born weakD.all of the above详细信息3.难度:中等Some students get so nervous before a test; they do poorly even if they know the material. Sian Beilock has studied these highly anxious testtakers.Sian Beilock: “They start worrying about the consequences. They might even start worrying about whether this exam is going to prevent them from getting into the college they want. And when we worry,it actually uses up attention and memory resources. I talk about it as your cognitive horsepower that you could otherwise be using to focus on the exam.”Professor Beilock and another researcher,Gerardo Ramirez, have developed a possible solution. Just before an exam, highly anxious testtakers spend ten minutes writing about their worries about the test.Sian Beilock: “What we think happens is when students put it down on paper, they think about the worst that could happen and they reappraise the situation. They might realize it's not as bad as they might think it was before and,in essence(本质上),it prevents these thoughts from popping up when they're actually taking a test.”The researchers tested the idea on a group of twenty anxious college students. They gave them two short math tests. After the first one, they asked the students to either sit quietly or write about their feelings about the upcoming second test. The researchers added to the pressure. They told the students that those who did well on the second test would get money. They also told them that their performance would affect other students as part of a team effort.Professor Beilock says those who sat quietly scored an average of twelve percent worse on the second test. But the students who had written about their fears improved their performance by an average of five percent.Next, the researchers used younger students in a biology class. But it's hardly possible to completely stay out of it scientists are now 95 percent sure that humans have been the “dominant cause” of global warming trends since the 1950s.One of the conclusions of a report released on Sept 27 by the United Nations says that human activities have caused global temperatures to rise by 0.89 0C between 1901 and 2012. That might not seem like a lot, but the truth is that a major part of that heat has been absorbed into the oceans, which is not surprising given that they cover two thirds of Earth's surface. Also, water has a much greater capacity (容量) to absorb heat than the air does, according to The Economist. While many greenhouse gases occur naturally and are needed to keep the Earth warm enough to support life, humans' use of fossil fuels is the main source of excess (多余的) greenhouse gases. According to CNN, by driving cars, using electricity produced by burning coal and oil or heating our homes with coal or natural gas, we release a large amount of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.Your body can barely feel a difference of 0.89 0C, but the Earth's ecosystems are so sensitive that even small changes can disturb them. It often starts with the smallest creatures at the bottom of the food chain, eventually affecting bigger animals, many of which could end up becoming extinct.Global warming is also linked to an increase in extreme weather. A larger amount of carbon dioxide traps more energy inside the atmosphere. This changes the patterns of storms and rainfall in many regions and can lead to droughts and floods. Worse still, melting sea ice in warmer oceans is causing sea levels to rise at a speed of more than three millimeters per year, according to The Guardian, which also increases the risk of flooding.“The report should serve as another wakeup call that our activities today have a profound impact on society, not only for us, but for many generations to come,” French Michel Jarraud, secretarygeneral of the World Meteorological Organization, said at a news conference.1.The underlined word “dominant” in the first paragraph means “ ________”.A. common B.indirectC.secondary D.leading2.Which of the following statements is TRUE according to the passage?A.Greenhouse gases have been proven to harm merely the Earth .B.There is little we can do to prevent global warming.C.Global warming can increase the chances of droughts and floods.D.The hugeness of oceans makes them better absorbers of heat than the air.3.The rise in global temperatures between 1901 and 2012 ________.A.is more harmful to smaller creatures than bigger onesB.is not serious because most of the extra heat has been absorbed by the oceansC.has made the Earth's ecosystems more sensitive to changesD.is likely to cause many species to become extinct4.What is Michel Jarraud's attitude toward the report released by the UN?A.Negative. Supported by the Ladies' Association in London for the promotion of female education in India and the East, she immediately took up the work of starting a girls' school forChinese girls, which was soon followed by the opening of a boys' school.Mrs. Gutzlaff's comprador (买办) happened to come from my village and was actually my father's friend and neighbor. It was through him that my parents heard about Mrs. Gutzlaff's school and it was doubtlessly through his influence and means that my father got me admitted into the school. It has always been a mystery to me why my parents should put me into a foreign school, instead of a traditional Confucian school, where my big brother was placed. Most certainly such a step would have been more suitable for Chinese public opinion, taste, and the wants of the country than to allow me to attend an English school. Moreover, a Chinese belief is the only avenue in China that leads to political promotion, influence, power and wealth. I can only guess that as foreign communication with China was just beginning to grow, my parents hoped that it might be worthwhile to put one of their sons to learn English. In this way he might become an interpreter and have a more advantageous position to enter the business and diplomatic world. I am wondering if that influenced my parents to put me into Mrs.Gutzlaff's School. In one study, researchers found that small talk made up only 10% of their conversation related to happiness.1 Scientists believe that small talk could promote bonding. Late last year, Princeton researchers reported that small talk keeps closeness with loved ones, and isn't merely the stuff of awkward exchanges with strangers.Still, chatting with strangers could brighten your morning. In a series of experiments, psychologists gave Chicago passengers different directions about whether to talk with fellow passengers—something they typically avoided.2None of the chatters reported being rejected.Small talk can also help us feel connected with our surroundings. People who smiled at, made eye contact with, and briefly spoke with their Starbucks baristas (服务员)reported a greater sense of belonging than those who rushed through the transaction (交易).3One reportfound that when volunteers broke the silence to chat with gallery goers, the visitors felt happier and more connected with the exhibit than those who were not approached.4In one study, people who were rated “less curious” by researchers had trouble getting a conversation rolling on their own, and had greater luck building closeness with others when they were supplied with questions that encouraged personal disclosure (透露). But people who were considered “curious” needed no help when transforming conversations about ordinary things into personal exchanges.5 A.The same is true of gallery goers.B.But don't play down small talk just yet.C.They found that small talk is related to happiness.D.Those told to chat with others reported a more pleasant journey.E.Making small talk is an important skill for all the social situations.F.A “curious mindset”,the author concluded, can lead to “positive s ocial interactions”.G.Of course, some people are better than others at turning small talk into something bigger.[语篇解读]本文主要讲述了闲聊会让人开心.1.解析:根据上文的“In one study, researchers found that small talk made up only 10%of their conversation related to happiness.”和下文的“Scientists believe that small talk could promote bonding.”可知,此处表示转折关系,B项中but与前文中only形成转折关系,所以选B 项.但是,不要贬低闲聊的重要性.答案:B2.解析:根据下文的“None of the chatters reported being rejected.”可推知,D项中的Those指代上文中的passengers,所以应选D项.那些被要求去和陌生人聊天的乘客说旅途更加愉快.答案:D3.解析:根据下文的“chat with gallery goers”可知,应选A项.参观美术馆的人也有同样的感受.答案:A4.解析:根据本段中对两类人的介绍可推知,有些人更擅长把聊天话题扩大,所以选G项.答案:G5.解析:根据上文的“But people who were considered‘curious’needed no help when transforming conversations about ordinary things into personal exchanges.”可推知,F项承接上文,具有好奇心的人会与他人进行积极的社交互动,所以选F项.答案:FⅢ.语法填空Sending gifts varies greatly from country to country. In Australia,Canada, the United States1. 课时提升作业二十六选修6Unit 1Art(限时35分钟)Ⅰ. 阅读理解AMartha Graham, born in 1894, was one of the most famous dancers and creators of dance, whose influence on dance has been compared with the influence Picasso had on the modern visual arts, Stravinsky had on music, or Frank Lloyd Wright had on architecture. She created almost two hundred dance pieces. She is often called the Mother of Modern Dance.Earlier in her life, however, Martha did not know that she would become a dancer. At that time, the dancers were looked down on. So Martha’s parents didn’t approve of her desire to dance at the beginning. Until 1916, she began her studies at the newly created Denishawn School of Dancing and Related Arts, founded by Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn, where Graham worked very hard to improve her ability to dance because she was considered too old to begin dancing. In 1936, Graham made her defining work, Chronicle, which signaledthe beginning of a new era in modern dance. The dance brought serious issues to the stage for the general public in a dramatic manner. Influenced by the Wall Street Crash of 1929, the Great Depression that followed, and the Spanish Civil War, it focused on depression and isolation, reflected in the dark nature of both the set and costumes.Graham continued to dance past the age of seventy. Once again, she was met with criticism from people who came to watch her shows. But she didn’t give up. Her last completed ballet was 1990’s Maple Leaf Rag.A Dancer’s World is an introduction to Graham and her work. She tells about her dances and her dance group shows some of their methods.Martha Graham received many awards during her lifetime, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 1976. She was the first dancer to receive the country’s highest civilian honor. She died in 1991. In 1998, Time magazine listed her as the “Dancer of the Century” and as one of the most important people of the twentieth century.【文章大意】本文属于说明文, 作者通过这篇文章主要向我们描述了现代舞之母玛莎·格兰姆的一生以及她在舞蹈方面的成就。
