may come to a standstill, because bad weathers definitely cause flight delay and traffic jams. Measures should be taken immediately. Firstly, it is advisable that the authority enact related rules to limit the needless consumption and illegal acts. In addition, each one should enhance the environmental awareness and within our power do something beneficial. For example, we can carry around a canvas bag each time to replace plastic ones, eliminating white pollution. Only when all unit as one can we prevent the whole world from worse situation. As the pace of urbanization speeds up, a host of large communities have been formed, especially in metropolis. Therefore, organizing appropriate community activities becomes particularly vital. For one thing, given that we are occupied with work and rarely go out, the activities can provide us opportunities to chat or interact with neighbors and reduce unnecessary conflicts. For instance, community staff can hold parents-child campaigns, in which children make new friends and parents share their experience about raising a child. For another thing, community activities affect positively in various aspects, which not only enrich our daily life, but provide physical and mental benefits. Communities, coupled with hospitals, offer door-to-door service such as physical examination to the elderly, thus guaranteeing their health condition. All in all, contemporary society should concentrate on community activities, which aim to bring benefits to residents. In terms of current depressed economic situation and potential risk, saving certain money seems to be agreed widely. The primary reason is to avoid short-term financial burden. When laid off or suffering from accidents and sickness, citizens have to take out sufficient money in order to go through the storm. On this condition, the money saved in advance matters a lot. Besides, after retiring, the elderly need abundant material resources to support themselves, so accumulating almost half of their salary from adulthood plays a significant role. Generally speaking, it is necessary to make budgets at the start of a month, which ensures that they can not only live a better life, but collect plenty of money. All in all, having a plan and following the schedule can do nothing but help you out in the long run. What do you think of plastic surgery?Nowadays, more and more people tend to have a plastic surgery. People want to become more beautiful and attractive and keep their youth for a longer time. However, while people keen on improving their appearance, they are more likely to neglect the potential dangers behind plastic surgery. For one thing, driven by the money, some hospitals and doctors make exaggerating advertisements to attract people's attention, even cheat them. The fact is that they do not have those high technologies. We can not imagine how dangerous to the patients if their doctors are not professional enough. Besides, there are many people whose body are sensitive and are under the great risks of infections and complications, even death. For another, the sufferers have to bear the curious looks from their friends and acquaintances after the operation. Sometimes, they themselves also have psychological problems for they think they are not real beauties, but artificial beauties. To sum up, in some extents, plastic surgery plays a positive role in our society , but we should never neglect those side effects I mentioned above. There are nothing wrong for one to pursue beauty, what we should do is to choose an appropriate method to achieve this goal and cherishwhat we have now. Getting along well with others is an essential capacity for every individual in our daily lives especially in such a competitively fierce society. To do it well, some vital factors should be taken into consideration.First and foremost, we should be honest to the people contacted with. As far as I am concerned, honesty is one of the most valuable personality in human beings. It makes us feel comfortable and sincere when we get along with others. And being honest can also make us express ourselves freely and excitedly, which renders us enthusiastic. Only when people treat each other frankly and honestly, can they build a trustworthy relationship from the bottom of heart and get along well. In addition, responsibility is another one everybody should equip with, especially when others are in trouble. The sense of responsibility and accountability strengthen the relationship between people, which can pose great security and safety to others.Above all, getting along well with each other will exert great influence on our lives and trying to embrace honesty, responsibility and kindness is of great importance forever. Promote Life Skills for Middle School StudentsEducation is about giving people the opportunity to develop their potential, their personality and their strengths. This does not merely mean learning new knowledge, but also developing abilities to make the most of life. These are called life skills-- including the inner capacities and the practical skills. We need to increase our life skills at every stage of life, especially the secondary education when students are in the stage of building their personality. For one thing, practical life skills are the kinds of manual skills the middle students need for the physical tasks they face. These are skills which are often available to middle school students leaving school. For another, in today's world all these skills are necessary, in order to face rapid change in society. They need to know how to cope with the flood of information and turn it into useful knowledge. They also need to learn how to handle changes in society and in their own lives. In conclusion, the middle school students should recognize the importance of life skills--both practical and psycho-social---as part of education which leads to the full development of human potential and to the development of society. A: Hey, Mona, I just heard that Lucy went through an small operation yesterday and is now in the hospital.B: Yes, I've heard that too.

Birds ProtectionThere are more and more animals endangered nowadays, birds are no exceptional. Many kinds of birds died out in the past decades and many other kinds of birds are in peril of extinction because of human’s destruction of their natural habitat. As the economy develops, humans exploit all kinds of resources, causing air pollution and forest degradation. Without their habitat, birds can go nowhere, their number decrease draftily every minute. It’s urgent to protect birds. First, we must make concerning laws to protect birds in danger and punish those who break the laws severely. Second, we must take some measures, like refusing to buy products made from valuable and rare birds to protect birds effectively. As the saying goes: no buying, no killing. Birds are our friends and part of our environment. Third, we should raise people’s awareness to protect birds and our environment. In this way, we can build a harmonious society and ensure a sustainable development.

I am very familiar with the company. My next book deals withit in detail, which is to be published in autumn of 2018. I am also familiar with European consumer. As a Dutch citizen, I have lived in Europe for 46 years and studied European consumer behavior for decades.I believe that Sand River offers something unique to the European market. It has established long-term supply relations with herdsman (牧民) families and owns advanced German machinery. Thus it combines natural resources with modern manufacturing techniques. But equally important, Sand River works with modern fashion designers to create truly contemporary and appealing designs. The result is a newly-established cashmere ( 羊绒) brand that appeals to a target group ofhigh-income women.I met Mrs. King the first time in 2013. Since then, we have met several timesand talked about Sand River "s philosophy, strategy, and appeal to both Chinese and international consumers. I was struck by her deep knowledge about knitting ( 针织) technology, her enthusiasm for the brand, and her deep understanding of the cashmere shopper. I regard her as a "woman of her word."To summarize, I believe Sand River products deserve a p lace in luxurious European department stores and Mrs. King is a reliable partner. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.Sincerely,Joan Smith21. While you likely will find some valuable advice, you may come across a few tips that could mislead you."You need a lengthy cover letter." This probably is one of the "bad cover letter tips." Think about it: hiring managers have piles of resumes and cover l etters to review. If yours is longer than the rest, it might not get read at all. Aim to get all of your points across in three brief paragraphs: a clear introduction that lets employers know which job you are applying for and why you are interested in the position; a paragraph that includes a few specific examples of how you have excelled (擅长) in past roles that are relevant to the open position; and a concluding paragraph that tells employers how you will benefit their company and requests a future meeting."Your cover letter is less important than your resume." Some hiring managers shove (随手扔) cover letters to the side, but most do not. Because you never know what type of hiring manager you are dealing with, it is best to submit a nice cover letter. While some employers place less emphasis on cover letters, others decide who to interview based on them. Remember that the point of a cover letter is to tell employers something that makes them want to meet you.1.

Each passage is followed by five questions or unfinished statements. For each of them, there are four choices marked A, B, C and D. You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on the Answer Sheet with a single line through the centre.Passage OneWhen I was growing up in America, I was ashamed of my mother’s Chinese English. Because of her English, she was often treated unfairly. People in department stores, at banks, and at restaurants did not take her seriously, did not give her good service, pretended not to understand her, or even acted as if they did not hear her.My mother has realized the limitations of her English as well. When I was fifteen, she would have me call people on the phone to pretend I was she. I was forced to ask for information or even to yell at people who had been rude to her. One time I had to call her stockbroker I said in an adolescent voice that was not very convincing, “This is Mrs. Tan.” And my mother was standing beside me, whispering loudly, “Why he don’t send me cheek already two week lone. ”And then, in perfect English I said: “I’m getting rather concerned. You agreed to send the check two weeks ago, but it hasn’t arrived.” Then she talked more loudly. “What he want? I come to New York tell him front of his boss.” And so I turned to the stockbroker again, “I can’t tolerate any more excuse. If I don’t receive the check immediately, I am going to have to speak to your manager when I am in New York next week.”The next week we ended up in New York. While I was sitting there red-faced, my mother, the real Mrs.Tan, was shouting to his boss in her broken English. When I was a teenager, my mother’s broken English embarrassed me. But now, I see it differently. To me, my mother’s English is perfectly clear, perfectly natural. It is my mother tongue. Her language, as I hear it, is vivid, direct, and full of observation and wisdom. It was the language that helped shape the way I saw things, expressed ideas, and understood the world.61.Why was the author’s mother poorly served?A. She was unable to speak good English.B. She was often misunderstood.C. She was not clearly heard.D. She was not very polite.62. From Paragraph 2, we know that the author was .A. good at pretendingB. rude to the stockbrokerC. ready to help her motherD. unwilling to phone for her mother63. After the author made the phone call, .A. they forgave the stockbrokerB. they railed to get the checkC. they went to New York immediatelyD. they spoke to their boss at once64. What does the author think of her mother’s English now?A. It is confusing.B. It is embarrassing.C. It is clear and natural.D. It is intolerable.65. We can infer from the passage that Chinese English .A. is clear and natural to non-native speakersB. is vivid and direct to non-native speakersC. has a very bad reputationD. may put its speakers to inconveniencePassage TwoIn the fall of 1985, I was a bright-eyed girl heading off to Howard University, aiming at a legal career and dreaming of sitting on a Supreme Court bench somewhere. Twenty-one years later I am still a bright eyed dreamer and one with quite a different story to tell.My grandma, an amazing woman, graduated from college at the age of 65. She was the first in our family to reach that goal. But one year after I started college, she developed cancer. I made the choice to withdraw from college to care for her. It meant that school and my personal dream would have to wait. Then I got married with another dream: building my family with a combination of adopted and biological children. In 1999, we adopted our first son. To lay eyes on him was fantastic and very emotional.A year later came our second adopted boy. Then followed son No. 3. In 2003, I gave birth to another boy.You can imagine how fully occupied I became, raising four boys under the age of 8. Our home was a complete zoo — a joyous zoo. Not surprising, I never did make it back to college full-time. But I never gave up on the dream either. I had only one choice: to find a way. That meant taking as few as one class each semester. The hardest part was feeling guilty about the time I spent away from the boys. They often wanted me to stay home with them. There certainly were times I wanted to quit but I knew I should set an example for them to follow through the rest of their lives. In 2007, I graduated from the University of North Carolina. I spent a total of 21 years getting my college degree!I am not special, just single-minded. It always struck me that when you’re looking at a big challenge from the outside, it looks huge, but when you’re in the midst of it, it just seems normal. Everything you want won’t arrive in your life on one day. It’s a process. Remember: little steps add up to big dreams.66.When the author went to Howard University, her dream was to be .A. a writerB. a teacherC. a judgeD. a doctor67. Why did the author quit school in her second year of college?A. She wanted to study by herself.B. She fell in love and got married.C. She suffered from serious illness.D. She decided to look after her grandma.68. What can we learn about the author from Paragraph 4?A. She was busy yet happy with her family life.B. She ignored her guilty feelings for her sons.C. She wanted to remain a full-time housewife.D. She was too confused to make a correct choice.69. What does the author mostly want to tell us in the last paragraph?A. Failure is the mother of success.B. Little by little, one goes farC. Every coin has two sides.D. Well begun is half done.70. Which of the following can best describe the author?A. Caring and determined.B. Honest and responsible.C. Ambitious and sensitive.D. Innocent and single-minded.Passage ThreeIt was the summer of 1965. DeLuca, then 17, visited Peter Buck, a family friend. Buck asked DeLuca abo ut his plans for the future. “I’m going to college, but I need a way to pay for it.” DeLuca recalls saying, “Buck said, ‘You should open a sandwich shop.”That afternoon, they agreed to be partners. And they set a goal: to open 32 stores in ten years. After doing some research, Buck wrote a check for $1,000. DeLuca rented a storefront (店面)in Connecticut, and when they couldn’t cover their start-up costs, Buck gave another $1,000.But business didn’t go smoothly as they expected. DeLuca says, “After six mont hs, we were doing poorly, but we didn’t know how badly, because we didn’t have any financial controls.” All he and Buck knew was that their sales were lower than their costs.DeLuca was managing the store and going to the University of Bridgeport at the same time. Buck was working at his day job as a nuclear physicist in New York. They’d meet Monday evenings and brainstorm ideas for keeping the business running. “We convinced ourselves to open a second store. We figured we could tell the public, ‘We are so successful; we are opening a second store.’ ‘‘And they did in the spring of 1966. Still, it was a lot of learning by trial and error. But the partners’ learn-as-you-go approach turned out to be their greatest strength. Every Friday, DeLuca would drive around and hand-deliver the checks to pay their suppliers. “I drove probably two and a half hours and it wasn’t necessary, but as a result, the suppliers got to know me very well, and the personal relationships established really helped out,” DeLuca says. And having a goal was also important. “There are so many problems that can get you down. Because of these devices, ideas and news of events spread quickly all over the world. For example, within seconds, people can know the results of an election in another country. An International football match comes into the homes of everyone with a television set. News of a disaster, such as a flood, can bring help from distant countries. Within hours, help is on the way. Because of modern technology, information travels fast. How has this speed of communication changed the world? To many people, the world has become smaller. Of course, this does not mean that the world is actually smaller. It means that the world seems smaller. Two hundred years ago, communication between continents took a long time. All news was carried on ships that needed weeks or even months to cross the oceans. In the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, up to six weeks would be needed for news from Europe to reach America. This time difference influenced people’s actions. For example, a few battles in the War of 1812 between England and the United States could have been avoided. A peace agreement had already been signed. Peace was made in England, but the news of peace did not reach America until after six weeks. During the six weeks, the large and serious Battle of New Orleans was fought. Many people lost their lives after the peace treaty(条约) had been signed. They would not have died if the news had come in time. In the past, communication needed much more time than it does now. There is a good reason why the world seemed so much larger than it does today.76. Thanks to , we can get the latest news of events instantly from all over the world.A. disastersB. EuropeC. ocean travelD. modern technology77. would need six weeks a couple of hundred years ago.A. The War of 1812 between the US and EnglandB. Agreeing on peace during the War of 1812C. The Battle of New Orleans that wasn’t avoidedD. Ocean travel between Europe and America78. Some battle in the war between England and America could have avoided if .A. people had could signed the peace agreement soonerB. the peace agreement had reached America earlierC. the peace agreement had not been him on the wayD. people of the two countries had taken some actions79. What attitude does the writer hold toward the people who died in the War of 1812?A. Curious.B. Amazed.C. Sympathetic.D. Angry.80. Which of the following can serve as the most appropriate title for this passage?A. Modern Technology and CommunicationB. People Today in the Small WorldC. The Unnecessary Peace TreatyD. People in the Information AgePart III Translation (20 points)Directions: In this part, there is one passage in English. Read the passage carefully and translate it into Chinese.Reading doesn’t just mean recognizing each word on the page; it means taking in the information, digesting (消化) it and incorporating (吸收) it into oneself just as one digests a sandwich and makes it a part of himself. The goal is to bring the information back to life, not just to treat it as dead facts on paper. Reading and writing cannot be completely separated from each other; in fact, the aim of reading is to express the information you have got from the text. People who can’t express an idea after reading a text is just as ineffective as those who hasn’t read it at all.Part IV Writing (20 points)Directions: For this part, you are required to write a composition of 120 to 180 words. Your writing should be based on the title and outline given below. On a Harmonious Dormitory Life1.宿舍生活有时会出现不和谐的现象;2. 和谐宿舍生活的重要性;3. 如何创造和谐的宿舍生活。

2018年下半年省普通高等学校招生全国统一考试英语第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分35分)第一节(共10小题;每小题2.5分,满分25分)阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出最佳选项,并在答题纸上将该项涂黑。

AThe most welcome sight on a cold, wet winter night in London is the familiar shape of a London taxi cab approaching with its yellow "for hire" sign shining brightly. That shows it is ready to pick you up. Travelling by taxi in London is not just a way of going from one place to another. It is an experience to be enjoyed and remembered. The main reason for this is the drivers, who are call ed “cabbies.”Many of them are true Cockneys. This means they were born in the heart of London andspeak their own special dialect (方言)of English. All of them know every streetand famous building in the city, and all of them love to talk. A simple twenty-minute journey across town can become very interesting. You may have a discussion about the government and its leaders or a friendly talk about the driver's Aunty Nellie! One thing is for sure, it will never be boring. Cabbies know all the latest news about film stars, the Royal Family, government leaders, and popular singers or actors and actresses. They also know the best places to eat, shop and relax. And they can take you straight to any large hotel, department store, theatre or museum. They know the shortest way possible without even looking at a map, because everyone who wants to become a taxi driver must pass a very difficult examination in order to get a license to drive a taxi. The exam is called “The Knowledge.” It is a written test, and in it drivers are asked the shortest way from one place to another. Theymust take into account the time of day --in rush hour, a longer route(路线)maybe quicker -- and describe the best way. Moreover they must never forget the one-way streets!21. From what can we tell that someone is a Cockney?A. Their interest.B. Their manners.C. Their speech.D. Their appearance.22. What does the author suggest by mentioning “Aunty Nellie” in paragraph 2?A. Passengers are full of curiosity.B. Cabbies’ topics are wide-ranging.C. Aunty Nellie is popular in London.D. Londoners are friendly to each other.23. What is the purpose of “The Knowledge”?A. To qualify one to drive a taxi.B. To assess one’s driving skills.C. To test drivers’ ability to write.D. To check taxi drivers’ memory.BThis month millions of American kids can forget about classroom bells and set off for grandparents' homes, sleep-away camps and lifeguard stands. But summer vacation hasn't always been a birth right of U.S. school children. Beforethe Civil War, schools operated on one of two calendars (日历), neither of which included a summer vacation. Rural (农村的)schooling was divided into summerand winter terms, leaving kids free to help with the farm work in the spring planting and fall harvest seasons. Urban students, meanwhile, regularly had as many as 48 weeks of study a year, with one break per quarter. In the 1840s, however, educational reformers like Horace Mann moved to combine the two calendars out of concern that rural schooling was not enough and that overusing of young minds could lead to nervous disorders. Summer appeared as the obvious time for a break: it offered a rest for teachers, fit in the farming calendar and reduced doctors' concern that packing students into hot classrooms would promote the spread of disease. But people’s opinion about the modern U.S. school year, which averages 180 days, is still divided. Some experts say its pleasant but lazy summer break, which took hold in the early 20th century, is one of the reasons math skills and graduation rates of U.S. high schoolers ranked well below average in two international education reports published in 2007. Others insist that with childrenunder increasing pressure to devote their down time to internships(实习)orstudy, there's still room for an institution that protects the lazy days of childhood.24. What did the rural school calendar before the Civil War allow children to do?A. Enjoy a summer vacation.B. Take a break each quarter.C. Have 48 weeks of study a year.D. Assist their parents with farm work.25. What did the educational reformers do in the 1840s?A. They introduced summer vacation.B. They shortened rural school terms.C. They promoted the study of farming.D. They advocated higher pay for teachers.26. Why are some people unhappy about the modem U.S. school year?A. It pushes the teachers too hard.B. It reduces the quality of education.C. It ignores science instruction.D. It includes no time for internships.CI start every summer with the best of intentions: to attack one big book from the past, a classic that I was supposed to have read when young and ambitious. Often the pairings of books and settings have been purely accidental: “Moby Dick” on a three-day cross-country train trip; “The Magic Mountain”in a New England beach side cottage with no locks on the doors, no telephones or televisions in the rooms, and little to do beyond row on the salt pond. Attempting “The Man Without Qualities” on a return to Hawaii, my nativestate, however, was less fruitful: I made it through one and a quarter volumes (册),then decided that I’d got the point and went swimming instead. But this summer I find myself at a loss. I’m not quite interested in Balzac, say, or “Tristram Shandy.”There’s always “War and Peace,”which I've covered some distance several times, only to get bogged down in the “War”part, set it aside for a while, and realize that I have to start over from the beginning again, having forgotten everyone’s name and social rank. How appealing to simply fall back on a favorite - once more into “The Waves”or“Justine,” which feels almost like cheating, too exciting and too much fun to properly belong in serious literature. And then there’s Stendhal’s“The Red and the Black,” which happens to bethe name of my favorite cocktail(鸡尾酒)of the summer, created by MichaelCecconi at Savoy and Back Forty. It is easy to drink, and knocking back three or four seems like such a delightful idea. Cecconi’s theory: “I take whatever’s fresh at the green market and turn it into liquid."The result is a pure shot of afternoon in the park, making one feel cheerful and peaceful all at once, lying on uncut grass with eyes shut, sun beating through the lids…27. What can we infer about the author from the first paragraph?A. He has a cottage in New England.B. He shows talents for literature.C. He enjoys reading when traveling.D. He admires a lot of great writers.28. What do the underlined words “get bogged down” in paragraph 2 mean?A. Get confused.B. Be carried away.C. Be interrupted.D. Make no progress.29. Why does the author say reading his favorite books feels like cheating?A. He finishes them quickly.B. He should read something serious.C. He barely understands them.D. He has read them many times before.30. What can be a suitable title for the text?A. The Books of SummerB. My Summer HolidaysC. To Read or Not to ReadD. It’s Never Too Late to Read第二节(共5小题:每小题2分,满分10分)根据短文容, 从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项。

英语翻译二级笔译实务真题2018年11月及答案解析

英语翻译二级笔译实务真题2018年11月及答案解析(1/2)Section ⅠEnglish-Chinese TranslationTranslate the following two passages into Chinese.Part A Compulsory Translation第1题You’ve temporarily misplaced your cell phone and anxiously retrace your steps to try to find it. Or perhaps you never let go of your phone—it´s always in your hand, your pocket, or your bag, ready to be answered or consulted at a moment’s notice. When your battery life runs down at the end of the day, you feel that yours is running low as well. New rese arch shows that there’s a psychological reason for such extreme phone dependence: According to the attachment theory, for some of us, our phone serves the same function as the teddy bear we clung to in childhood.Attachment theory proposes that our early life experiences with parents responsible for our well-being, are at the root of our connections to the adults with whom we form close relationships. Importantly, attachment in early life can extend to inanimate objects. Teddy bears, for example, serve a s “transitional objects.” The teddy bear, unlike the parent, is always there. We extend our dependence onparents to these animals, and use them to help us move to an independent sense of self.A cell phone has the potential to be a “compensatory attachment” object. Although phones are often castigated for their addictive potential, scientists cite evidence that supports the idea that “healthy, normal adults also report significant emotional attachment to special objects.”Indeed, cell phones have become a pervasive feature of our lives: The number of cell phone users exceeds the total population of the planet. The average amount of mobile or smartphone use in the U.S. is 3.3 hours per day. People also like to be near their phones: A 2013 survey cited by the Hungarian team. Nearly as many people report being distressed when they’re separated from their phone.Phones have distinct advantages. They can be kept by your side and they provide a social connection to the people you care about. Even if you’re no t talking to your friends, lover, or family, you can keep their photos close by, read their messages, and follow them on social media. You can track them in real time but also look back on memorable moments together. These channels help you “feel less alone”.________下一题(2/2)Section ⅠEnglish-Chinese TranslationTranslate the following two passages into Chinese.Part A Compulsory Translation第2题Many countries have adopted the principle of sustainable development it can combat gaginst environment deterioration in air quality, water quality and ...viable role for every member in the world.. production .health education in developing countries. But some argue that it´s a vague idea, some organizations may use it in it´s own interests, whether environmental or economic is the nature of interests. Others argue that sustainable development in developing countries overlook the local customs, habitude and people.Whereas interdependence is desirable during times of peace, war necessitates competition and independence. Tariffs and importation limits strengthen a country´s economic vitality while potentially weakening the economies of its enemies. Moreover, protectionism in the weapons industry is highly desirable during such circumstances because reliance on another state forarmaments can be fatal. For the most part, economists emphasize the negative effects of protectionism. It reduces international trade and raises prices for consumers. In addition, domestic firms that receive protection have less incentive to innovate. Although free trade puts uncompetitive firms out of business, the displaced workers and resources are ultimately allocated to other areas of the economy.Imposing quotas is a method used to protect trade, since foreign companies cannot ship more products regardless of how low they set their prices. Countries that hope to help a new industry thrive locally often impose quotas on imported goods. They believe that such restrictions allow entities in the new industry to develop their own competitive advantages and produce the products efficiently. Developing countries often use this argument to justify their restrictions on foreign goods.Protectionism’s purpose is usually to create jobs for domestic workers. Companies that operate in industries protected by quotas hire workers locally. Another disadvantage of quotas is the reduction in the quality of products in the absence of competition from foreign companies. Without competition, local firms are less likely to invest in innovation and improve their products and services. Domestic sellers don’t have an incentive to enhance efficiency and lower their prices, and under such conditions, consumers eventually pay more for products and services they could receive from foreign competitors. As local companies lose competitiveness, they become pressured to outsource jobs. In the long-run, increasing protectionism commonly leads to layoffs and economic slowdown.________上一题下一题(1/2)Section ⅡChinese-English TranslationTranslate the following two passages into English.

My View on Generation Gap
With the rapid development of economy, people's living standards are imporoving
too. However, growing in different conditions,a generation gap appears.
There are a varity of reasons that lead to generation gap.The kry one is the fast-growing society.Different generations play different roles in the society. The different experience ends in their different views. The old generation is conservative, while the young is liberal.Hence the conflict exists.
To narrow the generationgap,we are required to pay much more attention to communication. We should open our hearts and try to understand others. In addtion,we should follow the rhythm of the times to enjoy the new ideas, new conception, and new thiungs. Then we will find that generation gap is not a terrible thing.。
