Over the last few years, an increasing number of people have fallen in love with a particular kind of traditional Chinese clothing, also known as hanfu. The term hanfu often describes the style of clothing worn by the Han ethnic(种族的)people before the Qing Dynasty. Fans of hanfu wear it when they go out to eat, shop or even for walks in the park. As someone who was also attracted by this trend, I couldn’t help but fall in love with it after trying it on for the first time.

Wide sleeves, crossed collar-bands (底领), layered robes (长袍) and a belt are the central features of hanfu. Walking through a field of flowers while wearing hanfu, I immediately felt like I’d been transported to an earlier time. As I closed my eyes and had a photo taken by my friends, I breathed in the sweet aromas (芳香). I was totally lost in the fusion (融合) of traditional dress and the natural surroundings.

Undoubtedly, the biggest contribution to the revival (复兴) of hanfu is the rising popularity of traditional Chinese culture. According to my mother, people were also crazy about dresses when she was younger, but hanfu was not as well known. Conversely (相反地), several historical dramas and novels produced recently have brought traditional Chinese culture into the mainstream (主流).

This has attracted a new generation of youth to a variety of clothing, food and literature from ancient times.

Preserving(保存) culture is an important part of any society, especially in China, a country with a 5,000-year history. Appreciating and understanding people’s way of life from the past can have a positive influence on us, even on the whole society at present. What’s m ore, we should all do what we can to find creative and new ways to protect, promote and share our traditional Chinese culture with the world.
