The 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China
Wow, can you believe the Asian Winter Games are coming to my hometown of Harbin next year? I'm so excited! The Asian Winter Games are like the Olympics, but just for countries in Asia. Athletes from all over our amazing continent will come to compete in super cool winter sports like skiing, skating, hockey, and more.
Harbin is the perfect place to host this event. We have the most incredible winters here! The temperatures get freezing cold and we get tons of snowfall every year. I love bundling up in my warmest coat, hat, and mittens to go play in the fluffy white snow. My friends and I have huge snowball fights and make the most awesome snow forts. Sometimes the snow piles up so high we can tunnel through it! Isn't that wild?
The best part about winters in Harbin is all the amazing ice sculptures and festivals we have. The city puts on this huge Ice and Snow World festival every year with the most breathtaking
ice carvings and displays. Everything is made entirely of ice - towering castles, giant slides, mazes, you name it! The ice sculptors who make it are like ice wizards with how talented they are. I can't wait for all the athletes and visitors to see it.
Speaking of visitors, I hope I get to meet athletes and people from all the different Asian countries coming for the Games. Wouldn't it be so cool to make friends from Japan, South Korea, India, and other faraway places? I'd love to learn about their cultures and where they're from. Maybe I could show them around my favorite spots in Harbin like the Ice and Snow World, Zhaolin Park with its amazing snow sculptures, and the delicious local restaurants with steaming hot pots and dumplings. Yum!
I'm not sure I'll get to see the actual Games in person since tickets will probably be super hard to get. But I know my whole family will be watching every single event on TV, decked out in our China shirts and waving flags. We'll be screaming so loud for our athletes, the neighbors might call the police on us! I can't wait for the amazing opening ceremonies with fireworks, music, and the parade of nations too.
Hosting an event as huge as the Asian Winter Games is such an honor for Harbin. I've never been more proud to be from this amazing city of ice and snow. I hope all the visitors fall in love

The 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin!
Wow, I'm so excited for the 2025 Asian Winter Games that will be held in my city, Harbin, next year! All my classmates and I have been learning about the different winter sports that will be featured. My favorite is figure skating - I love watching the skaters twirl and jump with such gracefulness on the ice. But I also really like speed skating because of how fast they go around the rink. It's crazy!
My parents told me that the Asian Winter Games is a huge deal and that athletes from all across Asia will be coming to Harbin to compete. Can you believe over 30 countries and regions will be represented? That's so many places! I had to look some of them up on a map because I hadn't heard of certain ones before. Places like Timor-Leste, Uzbekistan, and Bahrain will all be sending their best winter sports athletes to my city. How cool is that?
I really hope I get to see some of the events in person. My class is talking about trying to get tickets to go watch competitions like snowboarding, skiing, or ice hockey. Wouldn't that be the best field trip ever? Just imagining getting to cheer on the athletes from the stands gives me chills. I'll definitely be waving the Chinese flag and going crazy any time someone from China competes!

The 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China
Wow, I'm so excited for the 2025 Asian Winter Games happening in Harbin, China next year! My family and I are huge fans of winter sports like skiing, skating, hockey and more. We try to watch as many events as possible whenever the Olympics or other big competitions are happening.
This will be the first time the Asian Winter Games are held in Harbin. I think it's the perfect city to host it though, because Harbin is famous for its incredibly cold winters and awesome ice and snow festivals. Just imagining the opening and closing ceremonies taking place among the huge, colorful ice sculptures gives me chills (but in a good way!).
I've never actually been to Harbin before, but my parents showed me pictures and it looks like a real winter wonderland. The city is located way up in northeast China, right near the borders of Russia and North Korea. Apparently the temperatures can drop below -20°C (-4°F) in the depths of winter! That's pretty intense for this kid from southern China. I'll definitely need to bundle up if my family is able to get tickets and travel there.
My favorite winter sport to watch is figure skating. I've been taking lessons at the local rink since I was 5 years old and I just love gliding around on the ice, even if I'm still working on not falling as much. The figure skating competitions are always really elegant with the sparkly costumes and beautiful music. I'm impressed by how the skaters can spin so fast without getting dizzy!
I also really enjoy ski jumping because it seems terrifying but amazing at the same time. Can you imagine launching yourself off a huge ramp and soaring through the air like a bird? The skiers make it look so graceful but I know I would be screaming the entire time if I tried it. My heart beats faster just watching them on TV.
I really hope my family can get tickets to some of the events in Harbin, even if it's just for the cheaper preliminary rounds.
Simply being there in person would be an unforgettable experience. I'd love to see the athlete's village, venues, and maybe some of the behind-the-scenes action too if we're lucky.
Mom and Dad already warned me that it probably won't be possible unless we win a lottery or something. Tickets are expected to be very limited and expensive since Harbin doesn't have a ton of huge stadiums and facilities. Some of the skiing events will be held farther outside the city where there are mountain ranges.
Still, I'll keep my fingers and toes crossed* that we hit the jackpot because can you imagine? Watching the world's best skiers, skaters, hockey players and more compete for glory at the absolute top level? Unreal! I'd come home and instantly be the coolest kid on my block.
Part of me wonders if the outdoor events like skiing and snowboarding will be impacted at all by climate change and warmer temperatures. Fresh powder is essential for those sports and I've learned in school how rising global temperatures are endangering winter environments. Hopefully the cold Harbin weather can overcompensate, at least for the few weeks of the Games.
No matter who wins what medal, I already know the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin are going to be awesome. My family will be huddled around the TV waving our Chinese flags and cheering at the top of our lungs, that's for sure! If we're actually able to go in person, you'd better believe I'll be begging for all the cool merchandise like mascot dolls and Olympic pins.
In the meantime, I'll keep practicing my skating skills as much as possible. You never know, maybe I'll be the one taking the ice for China at a future Winter Olympics or Asian Games someday. A kid can dream, right? I'll need to start working on my triple axels!

I'm so excited for the 2025 Asian Winter Games that will be held in Harbin, China next year! Harbin is a really cool city in the northeastern part of China that gets super cold and snowy every winter. It's the perfect place to host all the fun winter sports like skiing, skating, hockey, and more.
I love watching the winter Olympic sports on TV. The athletes are so talented and skilled at what they do. Seeing them race down the mountain at crazy speeds or do flips and spins on the ice rink is just amazing. I try copying their moves when I go sledding or ice skating, but I'm definitely not as good as them!
My favorite winter sport is probably figure skating. The costumes the skaters wear are always so sparkly and beautiful. And the way they gracefully glide across the ice while doing incredible jumps and spins is like magic. I've taken a few figure skating lessons, but the hardest part for me is not falling down! Those skaters make it look so effortless.
Hockey is another winter sport I really enjoy watching. The games are fast-paced and intense with players zooming around whacking that little puck. Sometimes fights even break out on the ice, which is kind of scary but also exciting. I went to a hockey
game once and the crowd was cheering like crazy. The atmosphere was electric!
Apart from the sporting events, I'm really looking forward to the opening and closing ceremonies. They're always so dazzling with incredible performances, lighting displays, and fireworks.

How cool would it be to visit during the games?

Hi there! My name is Lily and I'm 10 years old. I was super excited when I found out that the 2025 Asian Winter Games were going to be held in my hometown of Harbin, China! The Asian Games are a really big deal – kind of like the Olympics but just for countries in Asia. And the Winter Games are extra special because they feature all the cool winter sports like skiing, skating, hockey, and my favorite - luge!
Harbin is basically the perfect place to host the Winter Games. We get sooooo much snow and ice every year. It's freezing cold for months on end, but that's exactly what you
need for winter sports. The city is famous for its huge snow and ice festivals with these massive, incredibly detailed ice sculptures. People travel from all over the world just to see them! Harbin even has a sector called the "Ice City" with life-size buildings made entirely out of ice blocks. It's like something out of the movies!
The Asian Winter Games are going to be held from February 16th to March 1st, 2025. There will be competitions for 7 sports - biathlon, curling, ice hockey, speed skating, figure skating, ski jumping, and my favorite again, luge! I really want to try luge someday. It looks so exhilarating speeding down that icy track headfirst on a little sled!
A bunch of new venues are being built specifically for the Games. The main hub will be the Harbin Olympic Sports City Stadium in the Daowai District. That's where the opening and closing ceremonies will be held. It's going to have heated seats for over 30,000 spectators! The Solders' Valley Mountain will host all the skiing and snowboarding events, while the ice sports like hockey and figure skating will take place at the Harbin International Exhibition Center.
I'm especially excited for the new Sliding Center that's being constructed. That's where the luge, bobsleigh, and skeleton
events will happen. I've never even heard of skeleton before but it sounds crazy - you go down a frozen track headfirst on a tiny sled...with no brakes!! I don't think I'm brave enough to try that one.
Hosting the Asian Winter Games is such an honor for Harbin. We've been working hard for years to get ready. They've spent over 3 billion on construction projects for the new stadiums and renovating older venues. Thousands of workers have been laboring nonstop to make sure everything is perfect in time for February 2025.
Our city wanted to make sure the Games had as little environmental impact as possible. That's why they used lots of pre-existing structures and renovated them instead of building completely new ones. The Main Media Center is actually going to be inside an old aircraft assembly plant! How cool is that? They've also planted over 840,000 trees and other vegetation to offset carbon emissions.
I really hope I get a chance to see some of the events in person with my family. Even if we can just attend one of the ceremonies or a practice session, that would be a dream come true! I've been learning all about the different winter sports in school and collecting the commemorative stamps and coins.
My biggest dream would be to one day compete in the Winter Olympics or Asian Games myself. I've started learning how to speed skate and I'm getting pretty decent. You never know, maybe I'll make it as an Olympic athlete! I've got plenty of time to practice living in The City of Ice. Wow, the 2025 Asian Winter Games in Harbin were so awesome! I had so much fun watching all the different winter sports competitions on TV with my family. Even though the games are over now, I can't stop thinking about all the exciting events and incredible athletes. Let me tell you all about my favorite parts!
First off, I was really psyched to see the Games being hosted in Harbin this year. Harbin is known as the "Ice City" because it gets so cold there in the winter. With temperatures often dropping below freezing, it's the perfect place to hold an epic winter sports festival! The city built some amazing new venues just for the Asian Games too, like the super cool Ice Ribbon rink.
It looks like a frozen roller coaster! I wish I could have gone ice skating on it.
Speaking of rad, let's talk about some of the most awesome athletes at the games. The Chinese teams had a bunch of superstars leading the way. In short track, Wu Dajing and Fan Kexin both won multiple gold medals. Wu even set a new world record in the 500m! On the slopes, freestyle skier Xu Mengtao basically rewrote the trick books with his mind-blowing runs. He made landing tricky jumps like 1620s look easy as pie. Those Chinese athletes were all so talented and worked incredibly hard to get to that level.
But the games weren't just about China showing off. Winter athletes from all over Asia got a chance to shine too. Japanese figure skater Shoma Uno was mesmerizing with his incredible artistry on the ice. South Korean snowboarder Lee Sang-ho threw down some monster tricks in the slopestyle and big air events. And the Mongolian ski jumpers had home crowds going wild with their huge aerial efforts. Seeing that Asian unity and pride on display was really special.
Some of the most inspiring stories came from underdog athletes defying the odds though. Did you see Malaysian skater Jeffrey Webb? He was his country's first ever athlete to compete
at a Winter Asian Games! And he didn't just participate - the dude won a bronze medal in figure skating. How crazy is that for a tropical nation? Or what about Indonesian ski jumper Bilal Sulung Chi? He had to go through intense military-style training just to get ready for Harbin's cold conditions. But in the end, he flew so high and did his family proud.
Moments like those really showed how amazing and
life-changing these Asian Games were. Athletic heroes were born, national spirits were lifted, and young fans like me got to experience the thrill of it all. The 2025 Games celebrated the very best in winter sports while also bridging cultures across a vast continent. It made me want to bundle up and go shredding down a mountain myself!
Now that the Harbin Games are over, I can't wait to see what's next for winter sports in Asia.
