A Changes in Starlight Town
Step 1 Lead-in
1. Free talk
Ask questions about Mr Chen and changes in Sunshine town. T: Do you still remember Mr Chen? Where does he live?
What changes happened there?
【设计意图：通过复习阳光镇的变化，激活学生已有知识，并通过
这些已有知识引出新知，将学生带入课堂的话题情境中。

Step 2 Pre-listening
1. Look and say
T: Today we will learn another town called Starlight Town.
Let’s see what it was like in the past and what it is
like at present.
T: What can you see in the picture?

green hills、river/lake，建构听前知识框架。

2. Read and guess
Read Part A1and Part A2, and try to make a guess. We may guess the answers to blanks 4 and 5.

3. Listening tips
Learn the tips of catching the key words as quickly as possible.

Step 3 While-listening
(1) Play the recording for the first time. Remind the students to use the listening tips.
(2) Play the recording again if necessary.
(3) Students read Part A1 aloud to check answers or
choose two students write the answers on the
blackboard.

(2) When did they last see each other?
(3) How do they keep in touch with each other? And why?

Step 3 Practice
1. Read the conversation in different ways
(1) Read after the recording.
(2) Read in pairs.
2. Ask and answer
T: Use the words and expressions in the box to ask and answer questions about Millie and Becky.
Sample questions:
(1) Where did Becky return from?
(2) When did Millie last see her?
(3) Why haven’t Becky and Millie seen each other for five years?

3. Make up your own conversation
T: Work in pairs and tell your partner about the changes in your life. You can use the conversation in Part B as
a model.
