As a recruiter, you already know how important referrals are. Three quick Tips to run an effective employee referral program
Communicate Make sure your employees and contacts know about the referral program. If possible, send out an email every month or whenever a new job opens that lists the job and referral reward (if any). Many referral programs fail because there is a lack of communication. Often times, a clear sign of a badly managed referral program is that most employees don't know what jobs are currently open and what the referral rewards are. If you market your program and ask for referrals, you will get results.

• • • • l Clarify ERP policy, Smartly design procedure of planning, processing, promoting to implement. l Make sure all employees will be good awareness and recognition of ERP culture. Know well of procedure. l Make sure smoothly communication with HR people, hiring managers and all employees. Provide training and coaching. l Get supports from each department’s leader.
1. 2. Inform staff of openings. Ask every person interviewed or every new staff member hired if they were referred by a current staff member. 3. Recognize staff who take the time to refer people to department openings. It can be as simple as 1, 2, 3. Of course, how each step is implemented can vary a great deal. For instance, to implement Step 2, your department could recognize staff who refer anyone who applies for the position--the result could be a larger pool of candidates. Or, your department may choose to recognize staff who have referred the person hired. For Step 3, your department may choose to show appreciation for referring people, e.g. management sending a personal thank you note for their participation in keeping the department successful. Or your department may choose to offer a reward, e.g. tickets to a Hancher show, tickets to UI Athletic events, IMU dinner tickets, etc. One uncomplicated example is the practice of Employee Referral Recognition at FM (Facilities Management). 1) Staff learn about openings in a variety of ways--word of mouth, UI Jobline, managers meetings, etc. 2) Employees are asked at FSG Orientation to note if any UI staff person informed them of the job opening. 3) Staff are recognized in the bi-monthly newsletter, At Your Service, for referring new staff at FSG. During one of Facilities Management Orientation classes, 5 of 13 new staff had been referred by Facilities Management staff and one additional referral occurred through staff from another UI department.
