• Global understanding, or global comprehension means understanding the general meaning of what you are listening to or reading. It can be compared to selective comprehension, which means understanding specific information in the text, and detailed comprehension, which means understanding everything.
Activities
• Global understanding will be tested on almost every kind of English proficiency test.
• In order to answer Question 1 and 10 in the following passages, you need to understand e authors’ argument globally.
• From these examples, we can see global understanding is a very important reading strategy for us to acquire.
