根据句意可知,go to someplace意为“去某地”,符合语境,故went后加to。
删除at。
而all表示三者故将all改为both。
根据句意可知,can't help doing/but do sth.
had改为have。
what改which。
注意:1.每处错误及其修改均仅限一词;
Two years before, I traveled to Brazil and rented for a car. Unfortunate, I had an accident and hit another car, which made me staying in a hospital for at least two week. I called my parents, but I did not tell them what happened. I knew that they will be worried about me because I was so far away, and my mother would not sleep if she knew the accident. Therefore, I told them interested stories and how I was enjoying Brazil. As a result, nobody knew truth. I still think that it was right to do so.
1.before 改为ago
3.unfortunately
4.staying 改为stay 5 weeks 6.happened改为had happened 7. will 改为would 8. and 后加that 9. interesting 10. truth前加the
18. According to a new US study, couples who expect their children to help care for them in old age should hope they have daughters because they are likely to be twice as attentive overall.
The research by Angelina Grigoryeva, a sociologist at Princeton University, found that, while women provide as much care for their elderly parents as they can manage, men do as little as they can get away with and often leave it to female family members.
Using data from the University of Michigan Health and Retirement Study, a study which has been tracking a cross-section of over-50s for the last decade, she calculated that women provide an average of 12.3 hours a month of care for elderly parents while men offer only 5.6 hours.
“Whereas the amount of elderly parent care daughters provide is associated with limitations they face, such as employment or childcare, sons’ caregiving is associated only with the presence or ab sence of other helpers, such as sisters or a parent’s spouse(配偶),” she explained.
“Sons reduce their caregiving efforts when they have a sister, while daughters increase theirs when they have a brother.”
“This suggests that sons pass on parent caregiving responsibilities to their sisters.”
In the UK, the 2011 census(人口普查) showed that there are now around 6.5 million people with caring responsibilities — a figure which has risen by a tenth in a decade.
But many are doing so at the risk of their own health. The census showed that those who provide 50 hours or more of care a week while trying to hold down a full-time job are three times more likely to be struggling with ill health than their working counterparts(相对应的人) who are not careers.
28. Where can you probably find the text?
A. In a popular science journal.
B. In a heal care guideline.
C. In a physics textbook.
D. In a tour booklet.
29. According to the study we know that ________.
A. American couples are preferring daughters to sons a lot
B. sons are twice likely as daughters to care for parents in old age
C. having a brother makes women less likely to do their fair share
D. men tend to take less care of their parents than women
30. Which of the following statements is true?
A. The number of people providing care has increased by 6.5 million.
B. More people have left behind their work to look after the elderly.
C. Many people who both work and care others can be threatened by health problems.
D. People shouldn’t take much responsibility to care for the old.
31. What’s the attitude of the author in the article?
A. Positive.
B. Subjective.
C. Objective.
D. Negative.
28. A 29. D 30. C 31. C
根据第二段“while women provide as much care for their elderly parents as they can manage, men do as little as they can get away with and often leave it to female family members.”(女性尽其所能地为年迈的父母提供照顾,但男性尽其所能做到的却很少,而且往往把照顾工作留给女性家庭成员。
根据最后一段“The census showed that those who provide 50 hours or more of care a week while trying to hold down a full- time job are three times more likely to be struggling with ill health than their working counterparts(相对应的人) who are not careers.”
What can you infer /learn/conclude from the passage?
What’s the author’s attitude toward……?
What does the passage suggest?
The author in this passage intends to __________。
What’s th e attitude of the author in the article? A. positive B. subjective C. objective D. negative
19. By far the most common difficulty in study is simple failure to get down to regular concentrated work . This difficulty is much greater for those who do not work to a plan and have no regular routine of study . Many students muddle along , doing a bit of this subject or that , as the mood takes them , or letting their set work pile up until the last possible moment .
Few students work to a set timetable . They say that if they did work out a timetable for themselves they would not keep to it , or would have to change it frequently , since they can never predict from one day to the next what their activities will be .
No doubt some students take much more kindly to a regular routine than others . There are many who shy away from a self-controlled weekly timetable , and dislike being tied down to a fixed program of work . Many able students state that they work in cycles . When they become interested in a topic they work on it attentively for three or four days at a time . On other days they avoid work completely . It has to be admitted that we do not fully understand the motivation to work . Most people over 25 years of age have become used to a work routine , and the majority of really productive workers set aside regular hours for the more important areas of their work . The “ tough-minded ” school of workers doesn’t fully accept the idea that good work can only be done naturally , under the influence of inspiration(灵感) .
Those who believe that they need only work and study as the fit takes them have a mistaken belief either in their own talent or in the value of “ freedom ” . Freedom from control and discipline leads to unhappiness rather than to “ self-expression ” or “ personality development ” . Our society insists on regular habits , timekeeping and punctuality ( being on time ) , and whether we like it or not , if we mean to make our way in society , we have to meet its demands .
68. The most widespread problem in applying oneself to study is __________ .
A. changing from one subject to another
B. the failure to keep to a set timetable of work
C. the unwillingness to work out a systematic plan
D. working on a subject only when one feels like it
69. The underlined part “ as the fit takes them ” means __________ .
A. when they have the energy
B. when they are in the mood
C. when they feel fit
D. when they find conditions suitable
70. A suitable title for the passage might be __________ .
A. Attitudes to Study
B. A Study Plan
C. The Difficulties of Studying
D. Study and Self-discipline
BBD。
