A unique advantage ...
It's so much easier for candidates to do well in an exam if they know exactly what to expect. This is where the British Council's Road to IELTS provides candidates with a unique advantage. It includes 120 hours of intensive work on vocabulary, reading, writing, listening and speaking, helping them to develop their skills to the levels necessary to succeed in the IELTS exam. And, crucially, the program simulates the exam itself, enabling candidates to view videos of the speaking test and to practise against the clock. Give your students the advantage they need with Road to IELTS!

How can Road to IELTS help your learners?
Reading
Choose from 24 authentic texts, with up to three different activity types for each, as well as exam tips on how to tackle the tasks. All texts are aimed at the educated non-specialist - as they are in the IELTS Reading Module.
Sources include: The Economist Amnesty International USA The Articulate Mammal The Language Instinct New Scientist National Geographic American Artist Guns, Germs and Steel
Listening
In the Listening section, which includes academic and social listening activities, candidates have a few seconds at the beginning to look through the questions, and half a minute at the end to check answers, just like the exam.
Exam Tips
The number one objective of Road to IELTS is to prepare candidates for the exam. There is a detailed explanation of each question type and tips on how best to tackle the tasks. This means candidates are thoroughly prepared before they enter the exam hall.

Speaking
In the Speaking section, videos of candidates from different language backgrounds take the learner through each of the three stages of the test, providing models of good and less good practice. Learners really benefit, for example, from watching four clips of candidates introducing themselves in Part 1 of the test and analysing what works and what doesn't. While students are encouraged to learn by watching and questioning, there is also a conscious didactic element providing useful advice through exercises, quizzes and text screens.
Charts and tables
One of the challenges of IELTS preparation is enabling learners to interpret and describe charts and tables. Road to IELTS includes a wealth of these graphics and more than 70 exercises ranging from the use of active and passive, to dealing with numbers to topic sentences and organising a report.
