Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Movies and televisions should always show audience good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished.
Movies and televisions, as the most widespread media, play an integral part in our daily life,
and are usually talked about by people in their free time. However, people have different opinions about whether movies and televisions should always show good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished. I believe whether they should be such a stereotype depends on the type of the audience they face.
If it’s children and teenagers that the movies and televisions are designed for, these movies and televisions should always show them good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished. Because children and teenagers haven’t developed sound moral values, they are easily influenced by others, especially televisions and movies which are about our daily life. If bad people always won over good people in TV and movie, they would consider it normal. A recent survey, after polling hundreds of adolescent crimes, has found that 85% of them have watched violent TV programs and admitted they are influenced by these programs. Therefore, in order to educate children and teenagers what things are supposed to be, movies and televisions should show the good aspect of life to them.
Nevertheless, movies and TVs don’t have to show good people are being rewarded and bad
people being punished if it's adults that they are made for. Since adults have their own moral values, they should receive the education that what’s the real picture of the society instead of what’s the right thing to do. We have to admit that the real life is not as good as we wish. Thus, adults could draw lessons from plots that the good are struck by the bad, so that they can protect themselves in the future. Besides, adults often take movies and televisions as a method to relax and will be less influenced by them than children.
In conclusion, the influence of movi es and televisions on us can’t be ignored. I believe, how they affect people depend on who they are. That’s to say, the movies and televisions should show different contents to different people rather than always show audience good people are being rewarded and bad people are being punished.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: People should buy things made in their own country, even though these things are more expensive than things that made in somewhere else.
There is a general trend that the market share of imported commodities is increasing gradually. Views differ greatly when it comes to the statement that people should buy things made in their own country in spite of the prices. However, I believe, when deciding which goods to buy, it should be the quality instead of the price or the place of origin that matters as the dominant factor. So the choices should differ under different circumstances.
Admittedly, there are some conditions under which people do insist on buying things made in their own country although these things are more expensive than that made in somewhere else. For
example, most people have an absolute preference for local foods because of the long-term diet habit. However, this can’t serve as a specific poin t to support the statement that people should always buy things made in their own country since this only appears in some cases.
Besides, there is also a phenomenon that some expensive local goods are actually of poor quality whereas the same goods which are made somewhere else may have a much higher cost performance. In this case, it’s not advisable to purchase the local ones. For example, some imported digital equipments are more advanced and much cheaper than that made in our country, and most of us would choose to buy the imported ones for a higher quality.
Finally, we may even encounter situations that compared to the local commodities the imported ones have higher price and higher quality at the same time. Then we have to consider whether the better performance is worthy of the extra cost. If the answer is yes, there is no doubt that we should buy those produced somewhere else.
In conclusion, we should take the quality of goods as the primary factor when deciding what to buy. In other words, it’s reason able for us to purchase commodities of high quality no matter whether they are made in our own country.

Do you think that young people should take several different kinds of job before they take a career in a long term?
young people should try different job before they decide which job or career they will do in the long term ?
There is a general trend that young people try different jobs before deciding which career to do in the long term. Views differ when it comes to the issue whether it’s su itable to do this. In my point of view, having several various job experiences is preferable before the young decide their entire life career.
Initially, rich working experience can help the young to find out what job is best suited for them. As we all know, interest is the guarantee of doing a long term career well. While many young people even don’t know where their interest lies without trying various kinds of jobs. Steve jobs, who assembled the first Apple computer, told the graduates to “keep looking and don’t settle” in his speech at Stanford, which means that young people should keep trying until realizing what’s “the one” they really love.
Moreover, switching jobs provides the young more chances to get along with people of all different fields and backgrounds. Thus, they can learn how to deal with people in the society, which benefits their long-term career a lot. For example, my uncle, when young, tried diverse jobs. At first, he failed to get along well with colleagues, but a few years later, after changing several jobs, he became popular in the company, which was ascribed to the lessons he learned from past mistakes. So various jobs can help improving young people’s social skills.
Lastly, changing jobs also helps the young to widen their social circ le, that’s to say, make friends with people who have different skills, which is a necessary condition for long term career success. People always come up with all kinds of problems inevitably when taking a long term job, so only if we have friends with different talents can we go through with their help at the
critical moment.
In conclusion, young people should tale several different kinds of jobs before they take a career in a long term since it may do much help to their career development in the future.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? In such a busy or crowded world, people should not expect others to be polite to us.
Politeness is an integral part of our social interaction. But some people argue that in such a busy or crowded world, people should not expect others to be polite to us. I, however, disagree with this contention and instead believe that it’s just as necessary to expect politeness from others in modern society.
First of all, being busy cannot serve as a proper reason for not being polite. There are many forms available for us to behave politely, and many of them are not that time-consuming so we can keep polite even in the crowded world. For example, we can make a phone call to express our appreciation, send a n email to explain for the absence, or just send a text message to say “happy birthday”, which are so convenient to realize.
Moreover, we should expect others to be polite to us because this expectation also works on ourselves in turn. That’s to say, if we don’t expect others’ politeness to us, we may become rude to others naturally. A recent survey, after polling hundreds of crimes, has found that 75% of them consider the society to be impolite and believe their criminal act were some kind of feedback to
o thers’ rudeness. In fact, if we expect to be treated politely, we will be polite to others too, which will bring us a good mood and make us popular.
Lastly, expectation for politeness benefits us to a great extent. For example, when asking for help expecta ntly, we won’t feel embarrassed. In many cases people don’t seek help just because they reckon others would be rude, and that may be a misunderstanding which leads to loss of chances. It’s not responsible for us to deny the possibility of success by expect ation that may be too extreme.
In conclusion, even though the world is busy and crowded, we should expect others to be polite for well-beings of both others and ourselves.

Do you agree or disagree that with the following statement? It’s more i mportant for the government to spend money to build art museums and music performance center than to build recreational facilities (such as swimming pool, playgrounds).
There is a growing trend in China that the government is spending more and more money on recreational facilities such as playgrounds, especially after its successful holding Olympic Games. Some people argue that it’s more important to build art museums and music performance centers than to build recreational facilities. However, in my point of view, we can not explicitly point out which of them is more important. In other words, the government should attach equal importance to the construction of art museums and that of recreational facilities.
Firstly, the government should pay ample attention to the building of art venues. For one
thing, as people suffer from much pressure in modern society, going to art museums and music performance for relaxation is good choice for them to reduce stress. For the other, art avenues provide chances for peopl e to widen their social circle. That’s to say, if they love art, they can enjoy the shows and exhibitions together with acquaintances who have the similar appreciation; and even if they hardly love art, they can also acquire topics of conversation. So the government should invest in this kind of construction to feed our needs.
In addition, the government also ought to place great emphasis on the construction of recreational facilities because doing sports can benefit people by bringing them good health condition. Nowadays, people are always too busy to do exercise and as a result, their poor health condition may lead to the lack of competitiveness. Besides, Playing sports make us more positive when facing our life. Since it tells us that failures are inevitable and bad luck happens, we will have more sensible expectations on life and be not easily beaten by difficulties.
To sum up, recreational facilities and art venues can benefit our life in different aspects, and neither of them can replace the other. So t hey are of equal importance, and that’s why the government shouldn’t favor one and slight the other.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? A job with more vocation time but a low salary is better than a job with a high salary but less vocation time.
The balance between gains and losses is a common topic discussed by people, so it seems reasonable that people have conflicting ideas about which kind of job should be taken, one with more vocation time but a low salary or another with a high salary but less vocation time. However, I believe which one is better depends on the ages of the workers.
Firstly, if it is the young that we are talking about, then choosing jobs with high salary but less vocation time could be better since they care more about money but not so much about vocation. Young people need money for a lot of affairs, such as paying telephone bills and parking fees, renting houses and going shopping, which result from their rich social activities and pursuit of fashion. Besides, apart from enjoying vacations, young people have many additional choices to get relaxed, which means that they can recover from fatigue quickly. For example, they always watch movies, play video games and surf the Internet as some kind of rest after intense work.
Moreover, if it is the older that don’t desire money but instead look forward to peaceful life that we are talking about, a job with more vocation time but a low salary should be a better choice.
Generally speaking, old people have sufficient savings to maintain their life. Their social activities and sense for fashion decrease with time passing by, and they even don’t need to contact with colleagues or customers, resulting in a lower cost of living. Compared to joining in social activities, staying with family is more popular among the older. They are no longer strong and energetic enough to bear heavy burden, so they need more vocation time to get rest.
To sum up, the balance between amount of salary and vocation time depends on people’s demand which differ because of their ages.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Only movies that can teach us something about real life are worth watching.
Movies are playing an indispensable role in modern life. Some people believe that only movies that can teach us something about real life are worth watching. I, however, disagree with this contention and instead believe that it’s never a waste of t ime to watch a movie whether it teaches us something about real life or not.
Admittedly, movies which are seriously designed to make the audience think about real life do teach us how to deal with problems that we all face. For example, the movie “Forrest Gump” teaches us important values such as persistence and hard working. However, only watching this kind of movies can be so boring that people may lose interest.
Furthermore, movies that don’t teach us anything about real life can be considered as a means of relaxing. After a stressful workday, we need a break and something to take troubles off our mind temporarily. Some entertaining movies make people laugh and feel good so they can focus on what’s going on next. For example, my mother usually watches amu sing movies after finishing dinner and then does housework happily. So movies which are not so serious can help us relax and feel fresh.
Lastly, movies which are designed to amuse and entertain always include some interesting plots. Audience may keep these plots in mind as topics to chat about. Thus, they can have a better communication with other people and even widen their social circle. For example, I once met a girl in a train who also loves the movie “Harry Potter”. We talked happily and became friends later. Adversely, if I know nothing about a popular funny movie when others are talking about it, I would feel embarrassed. Because of their important role in our social activities, we should not ignore movies that teach us little about real life.
In conclusion, whether a movie is meaningful to our real life or not, it may be worth watching. It’s advisable to watch various kinds of movies.

agree or disagree?
It is often not a good thing to move to a new city or a new country because of the loss of old friends
Residence sometimes plays so essential a role in our life that some people choose to move to a new city or a new country for their well-being. Some people argu e that it’s often not a good thing to move to a new place because of the loss of friends. However, as far as I’m concerned, moving would not impact people negatively for their being away from old friends.
First of all, moving to another city or country only increases the distance between people and their old friends, which is not equivalent to that they lose these friends. Thanks to the convenient public transport and developed communication devices, people can talk and even meet with old friends whenever they want. Also with the assistance of internet, people can instantaneously share their interesting daily news or latest photos with each other. So we can maintain a good relationship with old friends in spite of long distance as long as we keep contact with them.
Moreover, as the saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder. In other words, it’s always friends’ merit that remains in our mind when they are away from us. Since people cannot meet old friends as usually as in the past, with little arguments we will forget their shortcomings gradually. Thus, moving to a new place may help us realize the value of friends.
Lastly, as life moves on, people who change residence will make new friends sooner or later. New friends may also remind us of old friends who have similar characteristics. And a few years later, new friends will become “old friends”, and we would never feel lonely because we don’t lose anyone. For example, my aunt get married and moved to another city three years ago, instead of losing friends, she now have more friends.
In conclusion, friendship is the theme throughout our life, and moving to a new place won’t lead to the loss of old friends as long as we value them.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? The best way to improve the quality of the education in a country is to increase teachers’ salaries.
The quality of education plays an essential role in boosting the development of a country. Some people argue that the best way to improve the quality of the education is to increase teachers’ salaries. I, however, disagree with this contention and instead believe there are more effective methods.
First of all, increasing teachers’ salaries won’t encourage them to work harder necessarily since they are not short of money. According to some surveys, teachers’ salaries are already above the average wage level, and they have vacations every year, so in fact they are well paid. Moreover, many teachers have additional incomes such as payment for their teaching private
cla sses. So teachers’ salaries are of little importance to the quality of education.
Furthermore, lack of teaching facilities may lead to a low quality of education immediately. For example, my high school can’t afford our chemical experiments, so we have to do experiments in groups and each group consists of more than ten students. As a result, our chemistry scores are always unsatisfactory. So I believe the teaching facilities such as the Internet, labs, and books available in library, should be improved for a better quality of education.
Lastly, too easy examinations can’t be ignored as a reason for poor quality of education. Therefore, we should increase the difficulty of examinations since if examinations are difficult enough, both teachers and students will work harder without being asked to. For instance, students from some provinces where competition is fierce and examinations are difficult always study harder than those from somewhere examination is much easier. I believe increasing the difficulty will increase students’ sense of crisis to some extent and motive them to study harder eventually.
In conclusion, increasing teachers’ salaries may not be a useful way , not to mention the best one, to improve the quality of education. Instead, there are many other measures we can take to achieve that target.。
