摘要：PURPOSE:To improve magneto-optical characteristics by alternately depositing transition metal layers and platinum group element layers to form a laminated film in a manner that the both end layers of the laminated film are platinum group element layers. CONSTITUTION:On a substrate 1 comprising transparent material such as glass, there are alternately deposited layers of 17 Angstrom thick Pt layer 2 of several to several tens atom thickness and 5 Angstrom thick Co layer 3 of several atom thickness. These layers are repeatedly laminated in this order to the end layer of Pt layer 2 on the opposite side to the substrate. Thus, both sides of each transition metal layer are covered with the platinum group element layer, which increases contribution of the interface between the transition metal layer and the platinum layer to the magneto-optical characteristics. Thus, the magneto-optical effect can be improved.
