2011口译二阶段话题整理：食品安全问题
事件回顾：
近几年曝光了不少涉及food safety（食品安全）的案件，影响比较恶劣的有前两年的三鹿奶粉事件，在不少国内品牌的baby formula（婴幼儿配方）奶粉和liquid milk（液态奶）中检出melamine（三聚氰胺）。

去年又爆出了swill-cooked dirty oil（地沟油）案件。

前几天又爆出了染色馒头（dyed steamed buns）。

一连串的食品安全问题搞得我们不知道该吃什么，什么食品才是可以放心吃的。

这里把几个主要的食品问题做一汇总，请大家注意相关英文表述。

食品安全：food safety
例句：Any governmental department that fails to fulfill its duty should be seriously punished. Responsible persons concerned with late, left-out and concealed reports on food safety accidents will be called to account.
翻译：任何未能履行责任的政府部门都将受到严惩。

染色馒头事件（dyed steamed buns）
新闻事件：据央视《消费主张》报道，上海华联、联华等多家超市销售的所谓玉米面、黑米馒头，实际是上海盛禄食品有限公司分公司违法将白面加入色素制成的“染色馒头”，同时盛禄公司还将退回的馒头更改生产日期、随意添加防腐剂和甜蜜素等行为。

昨晚，国家质检总局新闻发言人李元平表示，质检总局已明确要求上海市质监局严查严办，坚决打击，绝不手软。

生猪行业的业内人士把这种瘦肉猪戏称为“健美猪”。

记者在调查中发现，这种所谓的“健美猪”其实是因为在养殖的时候，吃了掺有“瘦肉精”的特殊饲料。

The Ministry of Agriculture dispatched an inspection group on Tuesday to look into the illegal use of clenbuterol, which is better known as "lean meat powder" in China. The powder is added to pig feed to lower the fat content.
翻译：农业部周二派出一个督察组，对国内使用盐酸克仑特罗，也就是所谓的“瘦肉精”的违法行为进行调查。

猪饲料中加入这种“瘦肉精”能降低脂肪含量。

解析：在上面的报道中，lean meat powder就是“瘦肉精”。

把“瘦肉精”添加到pig feed（猪饲料）中，可以speed up muscle building（加速肌肉生长）和fat burning（脂肪燃烧），这样就能增加猪的瘦肉量，吃了这种饲料的猪被戏称为lean-meat pig（健美猪）。

但是含有“瘦肉精”的肉却会对人体产生危害，导致dizziness（头晕）、cardiopalmus（心悸），甚至诱发malignant tumor（恶性肿瘤）。

地沟油事件（swill-cooked dirty oil）
新闻事件：
你，一定也吃过地沟油。

据专家估计，目前我国每年返回餐桌的地沟油有200至300万吨。

按照比例，你吃十顿饭，可能有一顿碰上的就是地沟油。

而目前我们甚至还没有找到一种理想的检测和鉴别地沟油的手段。

翻译：“地沟油”通常使用餐厨垃圾提炼而成，成分中含有的黄曲霉素毒性很强，可致癌。

解析：文中的illegal cooking oil就是指“地沟油”，也称为swill-cooked dirty oil，指的是从kitchen waste（餐厨垃圾）中提炼出的油，含有大量有害毒性物质。

使用illegal cooking oil已成为餐饮行业的open secret（公开的秘密）。
