Module 1 Unit 1 It’s more than 2000 years old.
教案
Purpose:
To learn and understand the topic words through talking and listening.
To know something about the Pyramids and the Grand Canyon.
To understand the conversation about starting a school magazine involving different tenses. Skill:
Listening and speaking.
Level:
Be simple.
Materials:
Vocabulary, tape recorder, picture.
Procedures:
Step 1: Warming up and lead in
(1) Aim:
Get the students to be attentive and focus on the theme of the lesson.
(2) Teacher’s activities:
Start the lesson by showing groups of pictures about the wonders of the world on the screen including the ancient pyramids.
Ask students to talk about the picture on Page2.
T: Where can you see the pictures and the brief introduction probably? (Newspaper / the Internet / Magazine…)
T: Yes, magazines like Crazy English /National Geography…
Who started…?
(3) Students’ activities:
Learn the new vocabulary. (ancient, pyramid, review, wonder…)
Have a talk about the picture using the words in Activity 1.
Learn a bit about magazines.
Think and tell the answers about the verbs they come up with.
Step 2: Listening and vocabulary
(1) Aim:
Practice listening and get specific information.
Check their understanding by making questions.
(2) Teacher’s activities:
Play the tape and check the words. Listen to the tape again.
Make up possible questions according to the answers. Give examples.
(3) Students’ activities:
Listen and check the words .Make up questions according to the given answers.
Step 3: Listening and reading
(1) Aims:
Listen to get a general idea for the first time.
Listen for the specific information and understand the details of the conversation.
(2) Teacher’s activities:
Play the tape for the first time. Ask students questions.
T: What are the children doing? Is there a school magazine in Da Ming’s school?
Play the tape again and ask students to decide T or F.
1) Crazy feet are a band.
2) Becky Wang started a school magazine.
3) Da Ming watched the interview on TV yesterday.
4) Tony is writing a composition.
(3) Students’ activities:
Listen more carefully for the second time. Decide whether they are true or false. Check the answers with the class.
Step 4: Reading
(1) Aim:
Practice reading and go over how to give suggestions when in discussion.
Learn more about writing a school magazine.
(2) Teacher’s activities:
Ask students to read aloud in pairs.
Ask students to read individually and underline those they are not able to understand.
Move around in the class to solve their problems.
(3) Students’ activities:
Read the conversation aloud, and read in role. Answer the questions in Activity 4.
Step 5: Pair work
(1) Aim:
Improve students’ oral communication skills.
(2) Teacher’s activities:
Ask students work in pairs and ask them to imagine that they are going to write a school magazine.
(3) Students’ activities:
Work in pairs or work in groups of three or four and act out a conversation about their own school magazine.
Participants:
Pair work and group work.
Homework:
Remember all the new words and expressions we’ve learned today.。
