reasons
ESP learning is not a mechanical project to be imposed mechanically on the learners. The whole ESP program is an enjoyable, pleasing, manageable, generative, creative and productive activity. It is only possible when it is based on the full potential and constraints of both target needs and the learning situation.
Learning needs
Hutchinson and Waters (1987:54) hold that needs include target needs and learning needs. In the 1980's, the focus of needs analysis turned more towards the methodology employed to implement the language programs, which involved, not just the teaching methods, but also the methods of learning.
Analyse your own learning situation using the framework for analysing learning needs.
