双元音 (diphthongs)之间有平滑的过渡,也就是说,双元音中 的发音牵涉到两种不同的舌位,并且从其中一种舌位滑动 到另一舌位。 双元音音素由两个元音组成,发音时由一个元音向另一个 元音滑动,口型有变化。前一个元音发音清晰响亮,且时 间长;后一个元音发音模糊软弱,且时间短。特别要注意 的三点是: (1)不要将前后两个音断开,应连贯成为一个整体; (2)不要因为后一个元音发音短小而将其忽略; (3)发音时滑动过程要完整,时间要充分。

(1)辅音+元音 当前一个词的词尾是辅音,后一个词以元音开头时,这 两个词可以连读。例如: It's a good idea. Come on, Jack! Is it on the desk? Look at it. Let me get it. Can you play games with us?
