11If you could ask a famous person one question, what would you ask? Why? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. If I had the opportunity to sit down and meet one of my idols or heroes, I could come up with hundreds of questions to find out what they did to get where they are, but in particular I like to have asked Helen Keller, what would she have made of the technology available today to blind and deafblind individuals? When Helen Keller was nineteen months old, a serious illness almost took her life. She survived the disease had left her both blind and deaf. Her education contributed to her first teacher, Anne Sullivan. Anne taught Helen to finger spell, and manage to let her understand the meaning of words. Imagine how hard it is for a person both blind and deaf to relate words with real world objects, although she never had a chance to see those objects!Another teacher Mary Swift Lamson who over the coming year was to try and teach Helen to speak. This was something that Helen desperately wanted and although she learned to understand what somebody else was saying by touching their lips and throat, her efforts to speak herself proved to be unsuccessful. However, Helen moved on to the Cambridge School for Young Ladies and later entered Radcliff College, becoming the first deaf blind person to have ever enrolled at an institution of higher learning. After World War Two, Helen spent years traveling the world fundraising for the American Foundation for the Overseas Blind. They visited Japan, Australia, South America, Europe and Africa. Her hard work and achievements was widely recognized throughout the world, and she was acknowledged as "the Miracle Worker".If Helen Keller were born today her life would undoubtedly have been completely different. Her life long dream was to be able to talk, something that she was never really able to master. Today the teaching methods exist that would have helped Helen to realize this dream. What would Helen have made of the technology available today to blind and deaf blind individuals? Technology of today has enabled blind and deaf blind people, like Helen, to communicate directly, and independently, with anybody in the world. Some people prefer to live in places that have the same weather or climate all year long. Others like to live in areas where the weather changes several times a year. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your choice. There is no denying the fact that whether to choose a place that have the same weather all year long, or a place where the weather changes several times a year is a popular topic which is much talked about. Although it seems that normally we cannot tell which one outweigh the other between these two kinds of places, they deserve some close examination. If three criteria were taken into account, I would prefer living in areas where the weather changes several times a year to living in places that have the same weather or climate all year long. There are no less than three advantages in this as rendered below.First, varied weather or climate broadens the range of our pastimes. For example, we can go swimming in summer and go skiing in winter. If the place we live in has only hot weather all year long, like Singapore, most of us can never go skiing in our lives.Secondly, the change of climate gives us opportunities to wear many kinds of clothes. Some say it is a waste of money to buy clothes depending on seasons. However, wearing various clothes, looking at others’ fashion, and feeling the change of seasons is very interesting for me. Thirdly, changing of seasons is good for our health. When winter comes our body’s metabolism slows down, and when summer comes it speeds up, so that our body can maintain a good rhythm. Also snows in the winter can kill a lot of bacteria and bad insects, so that in the spring our chance of being infected to a disease is decreased and we can enjoy nice atmosphere and sceneries. For these reasons, I prefer to live in areas that have several changes of weather. Only these three reasons can make a person draw the conclusion that living in areas that have season changes is better, not to mention there are more. Many students have to live with roommates while going to school or university. What are some of the important qualities of a good roommate? Use specific reasons and examples to explain why these qualities are important. The important qualities of a good roomateWe become more independent and learn more life experience while live without families, but your roommates. However, to live with other people is neither easy nor difficult. You should learn how to be a good roommate, basically.Believe or not, dormitory life is a extremly happy thing. You make new friends, experience independece, difficulties and enjoy the freedom. But all of these are base on your behaves as a good roommate.Firstly, you should know how to respect people. Not only your roommate, also people around you. It is the most important factor in our communications. Whatever what is your background, you are the same as your roommates, you guys are all equal. To respect your roommate, respect their religions and cultures. Do not laugh at enthetic people or racism. That is rude and stupid. We should respect what God created for us. Besides, you must respect your roommates' privately, everyone have right to have their secrets.Take your duty and responsibility. You can not ingore and think about those are negligible. Do not tend to ask your mates to do things what you have to do. Remember, no one will like a lazy and irresponsible roommate. In general, you should help to cleaning, put litter bags to dustheap, put things back after you used .To be quite when others are studying, take care of your men is another factor among. In addition, You are one of members of your dormitory. Do not hide yourself behind, you are buddy of your roommates. Try to share your ideas, experience of study and life, your happiness etc. And you listen to your mates experience as well. Take care of your mates You dormitory will be lively then. All in all, as long as you enjoy your dormitory life, get well with your friends, then you should be a good roommate. Whatever what you experiences, those of them will be a beautiful memorial of your rest of life. TRY IT.Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Dancing plays an important role in a culture. Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.Dancing is an important art form, and also plays an important role in a culture. Some dance spontaneously happens at celebrations as an expression of emotion or some happen in a more structured manner at ceremonies.Dancing plays an important role in ceremonial events in many cultures. For example, during the Pukumani ceremony the dances performed reflect the relationship to the deceased. In Lebanon, the classical belly dancing still plays an important part at weddings, representing the transition from virgin bride to sensual woman, and is also popular in nightclubs. On the other hand, residents of the Greenland believe that the dancing and drum can be used as a tool to dissolve conflicts between people. As we may see from the above examples, dancing is an integral part of many cultures. Of course, dancing does not have the same functions in our modern life, but many people in our society still find dancing an enjoyable form of entertainment and art. Young people go to disco with their friends to release their energies, and they find dancing a good way to relax and make friends.Older people dance together as a social event and a good means of exercise. In addition, many people go to theatres to enjoy performances of ballet and modern dances. Enjoying those beautiful dancing, music and costumes in a dance performance, can give us a beautiful experience, and help us develop appreciation of art, and enrich our after work life.In conclusion, no one can deny that dancing plays an important role in a culture. 7Some people think governments should spend as much money as possible exploring outer space (for example, traveling to the Moon and to other planets). Other people disagree and think governments should spend this money for our basic needs on Earth. Which of these two opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer. When we see photographs of starving children, it's hard to say that we should spend billions of dollars on space exploration. But that's just what we should do. Children don't need to be starving, but we do need to explore space. Right now, we have enough money to feed every person on Earth. Children are starving because of mismanagement of resources and simple human greed. Those are problems we can solve right here on earth. That shouldn't stop our need to find out what's beyond our own solar system. We may never make contact with whatever other species there may be out there in space. Even so, there are still two very practical and positive consequences of space exploration. One is a certainty and the other is a possibility. The certainty is medical research. Yes, we can conduct research here on earth. But much of the research done in space, for example, on the effects of gravity on bone marrow, is making a difference in medicine here on Earth. When we do research in space, we also learn more about space exploration. Also, many of the inventions that were developed for space travel have been adapted to good use on Earth. The possible consequence of space exploration is finding another planet human beings can colonize. Overpopulation is a huge problem on our planet. People are living longer, more healthful lives, and that's a good thing. But it means there are fewer people dying and more people being born. Eventually we'll have less space, fewer resources, and major distribution problems. If we can find another planet to live on, we can relieve the problems of overpopulation on our planet. It's a tragedy that there are human beings suffering on Earth. However, if we wait until everyone has a perfect life, we will never explore space-and that, too, would be a kind of tragedy. 6People have different ways of escaping the stress and difficulties of modern life. Some read; some exercise; others work in their gardens. What do you think are the best ways of reducing stress? Use specific details and examples in your answer.Stress is one of our biggest enemies. It affects our health, our personality, and our relationships with others. In order to get rid of stress, I first have to identify the cause.I have different antidotes to stress depending on the cause. The most common types of stress I face are with work, with friends, and with myself.Work-related stress is the easiest to combat. I simply stop working for a while. If I find myself picking up the same piece of paper four times a day and never doing anything with it, I blame stress. If I find- myself staring at the computer without finishing a report, I blame stress. The best thing to do is to do something else. Sometimes, I get up from my desk and go down the hall to talk to my colleagues, but I don't talk about work related subjects. Other times, I will take a short walk around the block and get some fresh air. Work-related stress can be cured by getting away from the work.Stress caused by friends is more difficult to cure. Often the cause is more complicated. My friends could have a personal problem that causes them and me both anxiety. Or my friends could be angry at me or vice versa. Here, the cure for stress is talking about the problem and being with my friends. Unlike work, you can't walk away from your friends.Stress I cause myself is also not so easy to get rid of. If I feel bothered by an exam or anxious about the future, there is very little for me to do. I just have to tell myself that I can only do my best and leave the rest up to fate.It is important to try to lead a stress-free life. If you can avoid stress by walking away from it (like at work), talking through it (like with your friends) or facing it head on (like with yourself), your health, personality and relationships will benefit. 5Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Teachers should be paid according to how much their students learn. Give specific reasons and examples to support your opinion. Some communities have decided to base evaluations of teachers on students' test scores. It's these evaluations that determine how much teachers will be paid.I don't think this is a very good idea for several reasons.First of all, if teachers' salaries are going to be based on how much students learn, then some teachers will start to teach their students only what they need to get high test scores. This means that students will miss out on a lot of education that can't be measured on a test. For instance, one of the best methods to help students understand a subject is encouraging them to discuss it. A common practice is to divide the class into groups, have each group discuss the subject, and then have them report back to the whole class. This kind of shared learning can lead to a fuller understanding. It also teaches students how to discuss and debate ideas. However, it doesn't supply facts to show off on a test.Another problem with basing teachers' salaries on how much their students learn is that teachers may ignore students who have learning difficulties. Some students learn more slowly than others and need more personal attention. If a teacher is worried about tests, he may feel he has to push the majority of the students to cram facts. That effort will take all his time. He won't be able tohelp the less able students. It's true there are teachers who "burn out" after many years teaching and just don't care how much their students learn. Basing their salaries on their students' test scores may improve their efforts. However, it's not fair for the majority of teachers. They deserve and need to be judged by other criteria. 4If you were asked to send one thing representing your country to an international exhibition, what would you choose? Why? Use specific reasons and details to explain your choice. If I were asked to send one thing representing my country to an international exhibition, I'd send something unexpected: one week's worth of television programming. These programs would best represent my country. They show how the citizens of my country live and what they think and feel. The dramas on television are very realistic. They show how people in different parts of the country go about their daily lives. They show how they earn their livings, how they deal with crime, and how they interact with each other. The dramas also show how people in various economic groups dress, what kinds of houses they live in, and what kinds of education their children receive. The comedies indicate what people in my country think is funny. Even though the situations are exaggerated, they reflect how my culture deals with very basic human situations. People everywhere understand falling in love, raising a family, and earning a living. 3Some people think that governments should spend as much money as possible on developing or buying computer technology. Other people disagree and think that this money should be spent on more basic needs. Which one of these opinions do you agree with? Use specific reasons and details to support your answer.I realize that it's important to stay up to date with our technology. So much, like our space and defense programs, depends on it. I've also read that we shouldn't let other governments get ahead of ours in the race for better technology. This could eventually put us at a disadvantage and our whole economy could suffer. Despite all this, I think our government should spend our tax dollars on more basic items before it gets into the business of developing computer technology. We have so many problems in our society, and it seems every solution needs money. For instance, we talk about getting people off welfare. To do that we need money to give them jobs until they can support themselves. That means support training, day care for their children, and probably a monthly rent subsidy. All of those things can cost hundreds of millions of dollars. However, if we could solve a major problem like that, wouldn't it improve our society even more than new technology?Another problem is that our transportation system is falling apart. Bridges have cracks in them. Highways buckle. Accidents happen because of these problems. We shouldn't put money into improving a computer chip when we have basic needs like these.Besides, why should the government be in the business of developing technology? Aren't there several very successful corporations doing just that? Yes, it's probably less expensive in the long run for the government to develop-the technology. Nevertheless, in the short run, there are basic needs in our society that aren't being met. I think that's where the money should go. 2You have been told that dormitory rooms at your university must be shared by two students. Would you rather have the university assign a student to share a room with you, or would you rather choose your own roommate? Use specific reasons and details to explain your answer.I'd rather have the university assign a roommate to share a room with me. As far as I'm concerned, this is part of the university experience. Students should meet new people and be open to new experiences. I like leaving this up to chance.Actually, even though the university will choose, it's not totally a matter of chance. We all filled out information sheets. The school knows what we're majoring in, what our interests are, and our study habits and our goals. I think they're probably very good at matching roommates using this information. They've had a lot of practice. Besides, if a mistake is made, I can change my room assignment next semester. If I did want to choose my own roommate, I'd first pick some candidates from the list supplied by the university. Then I'd write to them and they'd write back. Through our letters, we'd find out if we shared common interests, such as sports or movies. More importantly, we'd find out if we liked doing the same things in our free time. Because of my investigation, I'd probably get someone compatible with me. It's a lot of work to go through, though. Besides, the process of finding similar interests isn't all that different from what the university does.Trying to predict whom I'm going to get along with is not a science. I might choose someone who sounds just like me and still find that the two of us just don't get along as roommates. Besides, I think it would be boring to room with somebody who's just the same as me. I'd rather be with someone who has different interests and likes to do different things. Maybe I'd even get a roommate from another culture. After all, one of the reasons I'm going to the university is to be exposed to a lot of new experiences. So, I'd rather have the university choose my roommate for me. 1Some people like doing work by hand. Others prefer using machines. Which do you prefer? Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Here's the problem. I'm sloppy. That's why I like to use machines to do my work rather than do things by hand. Machines can be creative, precise, and efficient. Most people think that you can only be creative if you do things by hand. However, it takes creativity to set the machine up. Once it's set up, it can repeat the same task over and over and over perfectly. If you want to write ten letters, you can set up your word processor to do it, press a button, and ten letters will be printed. It would take me forever by hand, and I would make a lot of mistakes. By hand, each letter would be different. By machine, each one is perfect.Machines are very precise. They don't get tired and cut the wrong way. They don't get distracted and drop some mustard on the paper. As I said, I'm sloppy, but I like neatness. That's why I prefer to use machines.Machines are also more efficient. I'm too tired to pick up the phone and see who is calling me. My answering machine isn't tired. It's always on duty. It doesn't get tired, upset, or moody.I can depend on my machines, but I can't always depend on my hand to be creative, precise, or efficient.。

You should spend about 40 minutes on this task.Write about the following topic:Some people think watching television every day is bad for children. Others think it is good for children to get knowledge.Discuss both views and give your own opinion.Give reasons for your answer and include any relevant examples from your own knowledge or experience.Write at least 250 words.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? Playing computergames is a waste of time. Children should not be allowed to do so. Unlike older generation, children today become familiar with computers at a very early age. Tactfully-designed computer games are extremely popular among the young. Supported by digital technology and multimedia, such games are leading children into a magical wonderland. Many parents complain that playing computer games is totally a waste of time and so never allow their children to use them. As far as I am concerned, not all computer games are harmful.Admittedly, it is not advisable for children to be overly obsessed with computer games. Most computer games boast a large number of elements that are dramatically appealing to the hearts of children. True-to-life visual and sound effects combined with smartly-designed plots and fascinating game modes allow participants to vividly experience the magical power of the electronic world. Owing to these superior characteristics, most computer games are able to tie an addicted youngster to the chair before thecomputer screen for a long time. Without doubt, it will not only do harm to a child's health and schoolwork, but also waste much valuable time that could be spent engaging in more meaningful activities. Concrete evidence can be seen in many families nowadays. The sevenyear-old son of my cousin used to be so addicted to computer games that he would consume half of his weekend in front of the computer. As time went by, he became nearsighted and his studies were also negatively affected. As soon as his parents realized the potentialthreat of computer games, they had to set strict rules that prohibit their child from playing themtoo often. However, in spite of the side effects computer games bring to children, there are also some positive qualities hidden in them that could possibly be beneficial. To illustrate, some puzzle games are designed to train a person's logical thinking and urge him to use his wits. Children are at an age of mental development. Using such games may be a good approach to exercise the brain. With this in mind, parents could allow their children to spend some time solving interesting puzzles on the computer. Inaddition, some educational computer games familiarize children with practical skills or useful knowledge. A popular game named RichMan, for example, guides players to plan and arrange incomes and investments intelligently. Young children can obtain a primary understanding of what financial transactions mean.As a matter of fact, it is the responsibility of parents to manage and control the time their children spend playing computer games and help themselect the most suitable types of games. In most cases, children are too young to have enough awareness of time. They are also unable to distinguish between good and bad. With the support and guidance from their parents, children are likely to benefit much fromusing computer games. Therefore, even though being addicted to computer games does harm to children's health and interrupts their schoolwork, there is no need to label this form of leisure activity totally meaningless. Through some computer games, children can be offered an opportunity to exercise their brains and train themselves to become smarter and more capable. As long as they are under the guidance andsupervision of parents, children should be allowed to play some computer games.

托福口语高分范文(实用19篇)The place I would like to visit most is the outer space, the place where most of the physical laws on the earth do not apply. It is interesting to see everything floating in the air. And the term “in the air” should also be modified simply because there is no air anyway. It is interesting to walk the distance in a whole new style. And it is interesting to see the mother planet from a whole new angle. This big blue crystal sphere, from the pictures taken by those astronauts, the sight is marvelous. And I am dying to see this big blue ball in this style. (108)For teenagers aged between 15 to 18, what is the most important to the teacher?1)the ability to help students plan for future2)the ability to recognize which student needs help andoffer that help3)the ability to encourage students to learn on their own outside of the classroom托福写作三选一类范文Secondary education can be one of the most formative experiences in a person’s life. What qualities make a good high school teacher? People might go for abilities like helping with future planning or encouraging academic autonomy. I, however, believe that the most important factor is the ability to recognize students in need and the willingness to lend a hand. The first beneficiary is underachievers. More often than not, students who fall behind suffer from a low self-esteem. It is especially true for teenagers who find it a disgrace to loseface in front of their peers. In this case, they would stayunder the radar and try to bury their problems in the dark. Nobody would even notice, not to mention offering any help. However, a teacher with a perceptive mind can discover the problem before it gets worse, so that the troubled kid could get proper help. Let’s say a boy whose parents are going through a nasty divorce may show up late at school or miss the deadlinefor science projects. If the teacher can spot his recent anomaly and reaches out to him, the boy might open up and confide to the teacher. This is the first step on the road to recovery and an attentive teacher makes all the difference. To sum up, to benefit high school students to a greater extent, the teachers have to be able to recognize what’s going wrong and what can be done to make it right. Other characterscan be good to have, but also fine to live without.Still one thing, a factory can be very dangerous. Because a fire or a explosion may break out in the factory. If it’s very near our home, it’s quite dangerous.2. Make sure that the factory can deal with the waste properly. Do not release the poisonous gasinto the air, and not release the waste water into the river nearby.3. Make sure the security guard in the factory works very well.1、说出你认为对你最有用的一本书,并解释原因。

An increasing number of women in recent times are involved in jobs originally meant for males and vice versa. This trend triggers a heated discussion on whether males or females fit the same type of work based on individual characteristics. My perspective is that in today’s scenario, women and men are capable of having the same kind of careers because individual ability is far more essential than gender difference. Those who advocate males and females are compatible with specific tasks may have their reasons. Men are blessed with decisiveness, strong will and physical endurance, allowing them to be well-qualified for physically demanding activities such as military service, building or mining. On the other hand, females are considered exceptionally prominent at taking care of household chores and cultivating children. Most women are emotional, considerate or meticulous by nature, so they are more suitable to be employed in the careers such as nursing or teaching. However, with the spread of education and equal rights, individual ability is far more significant than gender identity. A growing number of women are undertaking the same important social positions which are supposed to be dominated by men for a long time and perform beyond public expectations. Also, women’s social status has been improved thanks to the success of world-class businesswomen and politicians, Angela Merkel for example. In the same way, men indulge themselves in household tasks and choose to be pink-collar workers. An illustration of this is that men started to work as kindergarten teachers or nurses in many societies. In conclusion, although men and women have been separated with distinct features facilitating them to do different tasks, I believe each gender can expose equally effective performance to the opposite gender.(285 words)。

Which do you think is the best way for a student to make friends: joining a sports team, participating in community activities, or traveling?Use specific examples to support your answer.

Making friends as a student can still be a difficult prospect. Given a choice between joining a sports team, participating in community activities, or traveling, I’d say the best way to make friends is probably getting involved in some community activities.First of all, not everyone was born to play sports. Some people just aren’t sports people, and while I’d certainly encourage everyone to bephysically active, for many, trying to join a sports team will just make of them feel bad about their own lack of ability. In these sorts of cases, whether or not they can feel comfortable enough to make friends depends largely on how supportive the social environment is. As a teenager I played lacrosse in highschool, and despite being lanky and ill-suited for the sport, I had a great time and made many new friends because the people were fun and not overly competitive. But I also played on a soccer team at the time, and the experience was far worse due to the personalities of the other players.I think most people would have better luck with making friends while traveling, though here you encounter the problem of staying in touch. Making friends on the road has several advantages: You get to meet a wider variety of people than if you had just joined a sport team, and since there’s no competitive pressure, getting to know people can be a much more relaxed process. You also have stories of your travels to relate to people you meet along the way. However, there wouldn’t be that camaraderie that comes from working towards a common goal, and a lot of the people you meet you’ll probably never see again. That’s why I think getting into community activities is the best of the three options. Similar to what you’d experience in a sports team, you have opportunities to forge bonds while working towards a common goal, but without the high athletic demands of a competitive sport. You also get to meet a larger variety of people than you might find while playing sports time, because they won’t all be athletes. Also, you’re much more likely to see them again compared to people you meet while travelling. And finally, since you’ll likely be doing a range of activities, you’ll have plenty of things to talk about with the new people you meet.Joining a sports team and traveling can both be helpful if you’re a student looking to make new friends. However, participating in community activities is a balanced compromise between the two, and in my mind that makes it the best option. In this argument, the arguer concludes that ______.

他说,“My grandpa is like a lighthouse in my life.(把爷爷比作灯塔,形象地说明爷爷的重要性) You know, when I was a little kid, I was so shy that I even dared not to talk to strangers. It was my grandpa who took me out, introduced me to his friends gently, and told me that there was nothing to be afraid of. He was always so positive, just like the sun that could shine away all the clouds in my heart.(用太阳类比爷爷积极的态度能驱散心中的阴霾)”然后呢,他又讲了爷爷的一些趣事。

“He's like a curious kid. Once he decided to learn how to use a smartphone. Oh my god, it was not easy for an old man at all. But he never gave up. He kept asking me questions, and every time he learned a new function, he would be so excited, like a child getting a new toy.(这里通过孩子得到新玩具时的兴奋来形容爷爷学会新功能时的状态)”我当时就问他,“你这样说就能拿23分吗?”他笑了笑说,“Well, I think it's not just about what you say, but also how you say it. I made sure my pronunciation was clear, just like a singer hitting every note right.(把发音清晰比作歌手唱准每个音符) And I didn't rush through my answers. I paused at the right places, like a storyteller leaving some suspense.(用说书人制造悬念来类比停顿的作用)”我从他这个范例里学到了很多。

Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer.People often say “ Those who don’t understand history will repeat the mi stakes of the past.” I totally disagree. I don’t see any evidence that people have made smart decisions based on their knowledge of the past. To me, the present is what is important, not the past. I think that people, the weather, and politics determine what happens, not the past.People can change. We can’t assume that people will continue to hate one another just because they have had hated one another for years. Look at Turkey and Greece. When Turkey had an earthquake, Greece sent aid. When Greece had an earthquake, Turkey sent aid. Now, these two countries are cooperating and looking forward to improved relations. No doubt, if we looked at thepast, we could have thought this was a lost cause. But people change. The weather can change. Farmers think that they can plant certain crops because these crops have always grown well in their fields before. But the weather can change. There can be a long drought. The crops that have always worked well , will die. A drought-resistant crop needs to be tried. If we looked at the past, we would not have changed our crop and we would have lost our farm. Weather changes.Politics an change. According to my way of thinking, politicians must be responsive to changes in the people. If politicians looked only at the past, they would always say the same thing. People change. On the whole, people today care about human rights. They warn all people to have the equal rights. If we looked at the past in the United States, we would see a lot of discrimination against races, women, and sexual orientation. Now, that is changing. Politicians changes, too.As a rule what is important today is to follow the mood of the moment. We can’t be looked in the past.It doesn’t do us any good to think about the past. People, the weather, and politics can change in any direction. The direction of this change, in my opinion, can not be predicted by studying the past.。

Attempts of the past decade to separate computer from children’s development has been largely unsuccessful, as computers have become an indispensable part of their lives at home and at school. While admitting to the usefulness of computer in general, I personally have strong reservations for exposing children to computer games, for the following reasons.First and foremost, playing computer games will distract students from learning. To be more specific, easily addicted to, and lured by, computer games, children may spend more time than necessary playing them, even at night. As a result, they wouldhave next to no time for homework and revision, let alone other time-consuming tasks such as extra-curricular tutoring and group projects. For example, many students in our school play online multiplayer games such as DOTA and PUBG, which are not only exciting, but also give us the chance to Having more fun playing together than playing alone, they often lose control of time and play until late night, neglecting their assignments and revisions, as a result of which their learning efficiency is significantly undermined.Furthermore, if children frequently play computer games, their health may be negatively influenced. To elaborate, early childhood is a period of rapid physical development, when children are susceptible to external influences. In that regard, long-time computer use exert a particularly damaging influence on them. The increased cases of shortsightedness among teenagers is a precise case in point. In recent decades, increasingly using the computer for learning and entertainment, students are exposed to fast-moving images and the radiation from computer screen for a longer time. Furthermore, many students use computers at night, which means the contrast between dark environment and the screen deepens the damage to their eyesight. A correlation between increased computer use and students’declining eyesight is therefore observed. Had students spent less time on the computer, their eyesight would doubtlessly have been much better than it is now.Doubtlessly, though, playing computer games allows students to relax after studying. As is broadly acknowledged, children today labor under intense competitive pressure, to which games provide a welcome relief. However, hardly could it be over-emphasized that encouraging students to play outside is a better solution in that regard, as it allows students to communicate and to build a stronger relationship with others. Thus, even as a stress relief, electronic games should not be prioritized. In conclusion, not only are computer games distracting, they may also damagestudents’health. That other methods are just as effective when it comes to providing relaxation further persuades me that playing computer games is a waste of time, and should be discouraged in children.。

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? It is better to take risks and explore new things when you are older rather than when you are young.

Well, I wholeheartedly disagree with the statement that it's better to take risks and explore new things when you're older instead of when you're young.Let's start with the fact that when you're young, you've got this amazing energy. It's like you're a battery that's fully charged. Young people can bounce back from failures more easily. For example, if a young person decides to start a new business selling some super trendy but really wacky fashion items and it flops, they can just laugh it off and say, "Hey, it was a cool try." They don't have as many financial and family responsibilities as older folks. So, they can afford to take risks like that.On the other hand, older people often have a set routine. They're used to their comfort zones. My uncle, for instance, has been working in the same bank for over 30 years. He has a mortgage to pay, kids in college, and he's just not in a position to suddenly go on some wild adventure like traveling around the world to study ancient tribal cultures. It would be really tough for him to step out of his normal life. Also, when you're young, your mind is more open to new ideas. You haven't been set in your ways as much. Youngsters are constantly bombardedwith new trends, new technologies, and new ways of thinking on social media and in school. They're more likely to be excited about exploring something completely unheard of, like starting a drone racing club in their neighborhood or learning how to code a virtual reality game.In conclusion, taking risks and exploring new things is like a natural fit for the young. They've got the energy, the flexibility, and the open mindedness that older people often lack. So, it's definitely better to be young and adventurous rather than waiting until you're old.。

Do you agree or disagree that progress is always good? Use specific reasonsand examples to support your answer. Looking back to my school years, our headmaster always encouraged us to study hard and make progress day by day. Without doubt, if one refuses to march ahead, he is likely to lag behind. It must be a commonly-cherished aimfor all to make progress because no one desires to be behind.Nevertheless, some side effects of progress have shown up in many aspects of our daily life. From some perspectives, progress is not always good.First, progress in industries has become a major contributor to pollution problems. With a higher degree of industrialization, an increasing number of factories are being built. Those factories established near heavilypopulated areas might release industrial waste into waterways in the area. As a consequence, that water can be seriously polluted. What's worse, some of the pollutants can be poisonous. Meanwhile, industrial gases are released into the air fromfactory chimneys. Thus, the air can also be severely polluted. Such potential hazards can threaten the health of residents and disturb the ecological balance in affectedareas. There have been many news reports about nuclear power stations polluting water and air and causing fatal illnesses. In addition, some social progress has forced modern citizens to live under overwhelming pressure. Admittedly, a fast pace of life has become a feature of modern society. Most working people face unprecedented workplace challenges and competition. Additionally, in the face of rising housing and fuel prices and other dailynecessities, many people have no other way but to work day and night.Seldom can they afford enough time to totally relax. Many have to give up much time that should be spent with their families. This is a huge sacrifice. Needless to say, heavy burdens imposed by social progress have deprived many people of the ability to enjoy life. The progress of information technology has also posed many problems. To illustrate, the prevalence of the Internet h a s given rise to the spread of online rumors, which considerably undermines social security and stability.Frequent cyber crimes have roused negative public attention, and result in diversified frauds and networkhacking attacks. Without doubt, these are doing great harm to the normal interests of ordinary citizens. To conclude, everything in the world is double-sided and progress is no exception. In spite of the fact that progress has brought numerous benefits to most people, we should never neglect to consider its negative impacts and act to mitigate them.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? People are now easierto become educated than in the past. In the face of the multi-channels of education today, people no longer limit themselves to the most traditional way to learn. Attending classes and reading books used to be the only method for an individual to become knowledgeable and well-educated. With the society advancing into the information age, more diversified means of learning are available for those who intend to eliminate their illiteracy. Indeed, it has become much easier for people to become educated than before.First of all, advanced technology has made it easier for people to teach themselves at home. Thanks to the tremendous impacts of the information age, endless sources of education are provided through the broad network of mass media. Such intelligent devices like computers and other digital tools are easy to operate and thus could sustain people to complete self-taught courses in many fields. With simple clicks of the mouse, the learning process could begin and run smoothly at home. For instance, a richsupply of online classes helps create a vivid classroom atmosphere for the students. By following each step of instructions on the websites, knowledge could be gained and skills could be accumulated. Furthermore, useful reading materials could be downloaded and installed in portable digital readers. People no longer have to borrow printed books from the library or purchase piles of heavy books from the bookstores. Reading has become more convenient and access to a wide range of books is easier than ever. Besides, communication tools could be made full use of forlearners to exchange ideas with their classmates and tutors online. This would definitely ensure studying efficiency. In addition to the diversified channels of self-study, people today are also blessed with numerous choices of school education. More freedom is rendered to all the social members who could make their own learning plans and a larger variety of schools and courses are available for them to choose. Thus, contrary to the past when the backward education system hindered many earnest students from furthering their studies, there is no need to worry about the possible loss of opportunities to receive formal education. To illustrate, the admission to institutions of higher learning has been made easier due to the enlargedenrollment. Public schools run by the government are not the only choice for many people. With the development of private schools and the easier entrance into overseas universities, students are given better chances to pursue their studies. Also, an increasing number of vocational schools and training classes are also joining in the mighty forces of the modern education network.By contrast, it was more difficult for people to become educated in the past. Take China for example, during the ancient time, women were not allowed to attend schools. Their destined role was supposed to be housewives. Just as an old saying goes, innocence is the virtue of women.Equality of learning was extremely hard to achieve. Sex discrimination in education used to be a major factor that made intelligent ladies illiterate. In the revolutionary period, although women were offered the chance to learn, the shortage of schools and the comparatively stricter admission also made it impossible for all the citizens to receive education. In a word, the backwardness of societyhindered many people from becoming educated during the old days.Indeed, people are fortunate enough to gain easier access to different forms of education today. Due to the greater demand of well-educated talents, it is imperativefor the government to enhance the general knowledge level of people by creating an advanced education system. Looking back on the difficult past, every individual should cherish the freer learning environment this new era has created.

二战时有个题目我记得很清楚,听力我完全不理解,后来让我说,我不知道说什么,我就说了个what the hell is the speaker talking about?another language?
