第1届奥运会于1896年在希腊雅典举办，2008年8月8日---24日，第29届奥运会将在北京举办。这在中国历史上是第一次。2008年北京奥运会是中国的机会，也是世界的机会。

中国是世界上人口最多的国家，北京是一座极具发展潜力的城市。通过2008年奥运会，中国可以向世界人民展示政治的稳定、社会的安定、灿烂的文化、优美的环境、一流的通讯、交通、饭店及其他社会服务设施。能在中国举办奥运会，就证明了中国的实力。
