Obama on Talk Show

On December 8, 2014, U.S. President Barack Obama appeared infamous late-night talk show"The Colbert report"，and slipped into the role of late night talk show host. There is no doubt that the appearance of Obama bring about the climax of the program, which is full of laughter and claps. He said to the audience “You've been taking a lot of shots at my job. I've decided I'm going to go ahead and take a shot at yours.”Then he nudged Stephen Colbert away from his perchand sat in front of the host table, then imitated Colbert talk jokes in the program.

When the first time I watched this video, I was surprised that a president of a country actually can appear in a TV show which is neither a political news program nor a serious interviewing program. In China, it can’t be imaged that our chairman talks cheerfully and humorously in such a funny TV show. The leaders of our country usually appear in the political news. The image of them to populaces usually is serious and unconversant. Although there are many news which reported that our chairman, prime minister or other leaders went into groups of common people to inspect specific works of local government and deliver the concerns from the central Party and government. However, in my opinion, the influence made by such activitiescan’t be compared with the impact that our leaders communicated directly with us through the media like entertaining TV show or internet communicating tool. Recently, there ishotnews that our chairman delivered a micro-blog using the ID of Army Daily. I think that it is a significant progress.

I was also attracted by Obama’s charming personality. Faced with netizens’ teasing about his policies, he was so composure and answered humorously. I have watched many of his speeches and amazed by his

lecture talents many times. From this TV show, I admired Obama of his quick reaction capacity and generous personality. At the same time, apart from his personalities, this TV show also reflect that there are many people in US who are discontent with Obama’s health and medical insurance policy. Maybe the Obama government should pay more attention to exploring a way of policy implementation, which can make the populaces convinced.

In a word, there are lots of differences between the leaderships of China and US. To improve the relationship between our leaders and populaces, we must learn from US’s strong points to offset our weakness. Then, with good policy, the society will be more harmony.
