The modern city is a new kind of nature,man-made nature. It reflects back an image of ourselves through the things we have designed。

But for the designer, the world is not enough。

Plans for a new, improved version are always on the drawing board。

At the Home Exhibition in London, people come and go,dreaming about new labor—saving devices, new possibilities, new designs for living. Not everything here is a design classic, but everything here has been designed to meet a need, fulfill a desire, or simply to raise a cheer at the breakfast table. What is growing up in a big family like?
I love having such a big family. There are many sweet memories about those years growing up with my brothers and sisters. We played games together, and went to school together. And it was our family tradition to give everybody a surprise on his or her birthday. But at times it could be a little crowded as we all live together in a small house when we were young.

Part A Reading AloudAlmost eleven kilometers deep, the Pacific is the deepest body of water on the planet. But sometimes, the seabed shoots to the surface. The creation of a new island. This is Kavachi, one of the most active undersea volcanoes in the world. Powerful waves keep sweeping its efforts away. Today, only 1% of this vast ocean is land, and much of it owes its existence to the powers of volcanoes like Kavachi. The never-ending rise and fall of land in the Pacific will continue to produce strange and wonderful worlds. The natural force that created land here in the first place, the ocean volcano. You know, things change quickly these days.Question 3: What will the biggest change be?/ What is the biggest change going to be?/ What can the biggest change be?/ What will the greatest change be?/ What is the greatest change going to be?/ What can the greatest change be?Answer 3: I guess the greatest change might be the way of learning. Technology could change learning in ways that we cannot imagine. Maybe in the future, each student will have a robot to help with his reading and writing. This would make learning much more interesting and easier. Question 1: Why was Tom so excited?Answer 1: Because he just had a new-born son.Question 2: What does Tom do for a living?Answer 2: He is a teacher.Question 3: What did To m’s t eacher use in the classroom?Answer 3: The white board./ His teacher used the white board in the classroom.Question 4: What games did Tom play when he was twelve? The interview started at 10 o’clock a.m. Tom didn’t know much about the morning traffic there. When he was near the downtown, the bus was moving very slowly. When he got to the university, the interview had finished. Luckily, he got another offer which was again at 10 o’clock a.m. This time, Tom decided he would never be late again. He startedout very early that day. It was very cold and Tom made his way in the falling snow. He got to the university two hours earlier and waited at the gate of the building. When the director came, he was very surprised to see Tom so early. Tom explained that he didn’t want to be late again. And the director gave Tom a job right away. He said a man who cared much about time should be trusted.。
