Instructions
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS - Use a tiny machine stitch for all sewing. Seam allowance is included on all pattern pieces. If you use fleece for the lining material, you will need to place a press cloth between iron and fleece when adhering the fusible web (iron should not be applied directly to fleece).
AMOUNT OF LINING MATERIAL (felt, fleece, terry, twill or denim), FABRIC, AND IRONON FUSIBLE WEB NEEDED FOR BOOTIES ACCORING TO SIZES:
0 to 6 months - one 7 1/2” x 8 1/2” rectangle cut from lining material, fabric and fusible web 6 to 9 months - one 8” x 9” rectangle cut from lining material, fabric and fusible web 9-12 months - one 8” x 10” rectangle cut from lining material, fabric and fusible web 12-18 months - one 9” x 10” rectangle cut from lining material, fabric and fusible web
Materials List
Wool felt, fleece, terry, denim or twill for lining - color that coordinates with fabric on outside of booties (felt does not have to be 100% wool - it can be a blend).
3. Arrange pattern pieces (tops, soles and ears) on fabric/lining rectangle and pin (make sure soles of shoes are facing in opposite directions or you will end up with two left booties or two right booties). Cut out bootie shapes. Mark pattern lines and dots along fabric edges of bootie pieces with pencil.
1. Print two copies of the pattern on white printer paper or cardstock. The cardstock will hold up better if you are planning to make lots of booties. Cut out two tops, two soles, two muzzles, two noses, and four ears from pattern size that you desire to make. Turn one of the sole pattern shapes over so that you have a left and right sole.
4. Fuse iron-on web pieces to the backs of the tan and black fabrics. Cut two muzzles from fused tan fabric and two noses from fused black fabric. Peel off paper backing. Place muzzle and nose pieces on tops of booties, following pattern, and fuse. 5. Machine stitch around inside edges of top bootie pieces, rounded top edge of muzzle pieces, and outside edges of ears. 6. Embroider blanket stitch around edges of nose circles, using one strand of black floss. Embroider stem stitch along mouth lines, using one strand of black floss. Embroider a French knot in the center of each nose, using three strands of white floss. Embroider a French knot on each eye dot, using three strands of black floss (wrap floss around needle three times for each French knot). Photo for Steps 4, 5 and 6 is at top of next page.

PRECIOUS BEAR BOOTIES By Precious Patterns
These booties are very soft and sweet! They keep their shape very well. Fabric is fused to wool felt, fleece, terry, denim or twill fabric. If you use wool felt or fleece for the lining, the booties will keep baby’s tootsies nice and warm. Wool felt is available almost anywhere they sell fabric. Felt does not have to be 100% wool. It can be a blend. Terry, twill or denim can be used instead of felt to make them more lightweight for spring or summer. Edges of booties may fray slightly but it adds to the charm of the design. Booties are very easy to make - even for beginners! We’re sure you’ll want to make more than one pair. You can use all types of 1/4” to 1/2” ribbon for ties, including grosgrain, satin, sheer, etc. Sample booties have wool felt on the inside, cotton fabric on the outside and they are tied with grosgrain ribbon. This PDF e-pattern includes full size patterns, a materials list, instructions written in English, and step-by-step color photographs. Booties will fit babies from newborn to approximately 18 months. Four sizes of booties are included in pattern - lengths of finished soles are 4”, 4.25”, 4.5” and 4.75”. Optional instructions are given to put a non-skid sole on booties for babies that are walking.
