Adjacent to Yuanxiang Lake, in new Jiading District.
The theater is intended to be a new cultural outlet for Jiading, a district 12 miles from Shanghai which is quickly developing.

Client: China Poly Group What is Poly Group?
Poly group is a government owned enterprise which specializes in art and art auctions in China. In recent history the organization has constructed 39 theaters throughout China, several times reaching out to foreign architects.
Design Concept A deceptively Simple 330-by-330-by-113-foot box conceals a complex diagrammatic plan and dynamic spatial flow. Five tubes act to subtract from the mass of the larger structure, each with a unique function. The tubes act to connect interior spaces as well as make connections to the site via outdoor spaces.
