1.one in a million

You are one in a million.

2.He is lifeless that is faultless.

A:Andy is so rude. I don’t like his manner. B:But many girls like him.You know he is lifeless that is faultless.

A:I've tired to learn English well,but I’m afraid I’ll give up.

B:Please don't.You know more haste,less speed.

The more you eat, the fatter you get.

英语习语漫谈1.give me a hand美国人经常说:"Give me a hand."

3.blow outWe arrived two hours late at the big blow-out for Charle's birthday because our car had a blow-out.

第341讲 the short end of the stick...

第一个是: the short end of the stick。

Stick

也就是the short end。

到了三十年代末这个短语后面添加了the stick,成了今天的the short end of the stick。

例句-1:I'm afraid the poor people will end up getting the short end of the stick again. Only a small part of the population has enjoyed everything from power to wealth.

所以这儿getting the short end of the stick意思是吃亏。

我们来听听他怎么说: 例句-2:I've received the short end of the stick too many times during the last ten years. Only the inexperienced and least qualified get promoted because the boss likes pretty young women.

第457讲 keep a stiff upper lip...

例句-1:Look, Billy, that's no way to talk to your dad; don't give me anymore lip, son. You better be home by midnight or you can't use the car for a month. Do you hear me?

Loop

In the loop

本篇学习要点: 1. have a hollow leg 海量,千杯不醉 2. give...a once-over 稍微... 4. Stir up a storm in a teacup ⼩题⼤做 5.

此⼈还真是个典型的美国lummox(傻⼤个⼉),⽬测⾝⾼怎么也得接近2⽶,话说他看见我出门,毫不认⽣的上前来介绍⾃⼰,Hi, I’m Lucifer, are you my new neighbor? Nice to meet you! By the way, u like drinking? Go with me then! I have a hollow leg! Don’t worry, he just shows off his drinking capacity to everyone.

我这才发现Lucifer的⼥朋友拎着⽔桶晃晃悠悠的⾛向了车库, do you need a hand? 我试图帮忙,no thanks, the car’s not very dirty, a one-over will do.
