小学二年级学生关于中秋的英语阅读材料【三篇】
小学二年级学生关于中秋的英语阅读材料【三篇】The joyous Mid-Autumn Festival was celebrated on the fifteenth day of the eighth moon, around the time of the autumn equinox(秋分). Many referred to it simply as the "Fifteenth of the Eighth Moon".This day was also considered as a harvest festival since fruits, vegetables and grain had been harvested by this time and food was abundant. Food offerings were placed on an altar setup in the courtyard. Apples, pears, peaches, grapes, pomegranates(石榴), melons, oranges and pomelos(柚子) might be seen. Special foods for the festival included moon cakes, cooked taro(芋头)and water caltrope(菱角), a type of water chestnut resembling black buffalo horns. Some people insisted that cooked taro be included because at the time of creation, taro was the first food discovered at night in the moonlight. Of all these foods, it could not be omitted from the Mid-Autumn Festival. The round moon cakes, measuring about three inches in diameter and one and a half inches in thickness, resembled Western fruitcakes in taste and consistency. These cakes were made with melon seeds(西瓜子), lotus seeds(莲籽), almonds(杏仁), minced meats, bean paste, orange peels and lard(猪油). A golden yolk(蛋黄) from a salted duck egg was placed at the centerof each cake, and the golden brown crust was decorated with symbols of the festival. Traditionally, thirteen moon cakes were piled in a pyramid to symbolize the thirteen moons of a "complete year," that is, twelve moons plus one intercalary(闰月的) moon. uUlsda EThe Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festivity for both the Han and minority nationalities. The custom of worshipping the moon can be traced back as far as the ancient Xia and Shang Dynasties (2000 B.C.-1066 B.C.). In the Zhou Dynasty(1066 B.C.-221 B.C.), people hold ceremonies to greet winter and worship the moon whenever the Mid-Autumn Festival sets in. It becomes very prevalent in the Tang Dynasty(618-907 A.D.) that people enjoy and worship the full moon. In the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279 A.D.), however, people send round moon cakesto their relatives as gifts in expression of their best wishes of family reunion. When it becomes dark, they look up at the full silver moon or go sightseeing on lakes to celebrate the festival. Since the Ming (1368-1644 A.D. ) and Qing Dynasties (1644-1911A.D.), the custom of Mid-AutumnFestival celebration becomes unprecedented popular. Together with the celebration there appear some special customs in different parts of the country, such as burning incense(熏香), planting Mid-Autumn trees, lighting lanterns on towers and fire dragon dances. However, the custom of playing under the moon is not so popular as it used to be nowadays, but it is not less popular to enjoy the bright silver moon. Whenever the festival sets in, people will look up at the full silver moon, drinking wine to celebrate their happy life or thinking of their relatives and friends far from home, and extending all of their best wishes to them. There is this story about the moon-cake. during the Yuan dynasty (A.D. 1280-1368) China was ruled by the Mongolian people. Leaders from the preceding Sung dynasty (A.D. 960-1280) were unhappy at submitting to the foreign rule, and set how to coordinate the rebellion without being discovered. The leaders of the rebellion, knowing that the Moon Festival was drawing near, ordered the making of special cakes. Backed into each moon cake was a message with the outline of the attack. On the night of the Moon Festival, the rebels successfully attached and overthrew the government. Today, moon cakes are eaten to commemorate this legend and was called the Moon Cake. For generations, moon cakes have been made with sweet fillings of nuts, mashed red beans, lotus-seed paste or Chinese dates(枣子), wrapped in a pastry. Sometimes a cooked egg yolk can be found in the middle of the rich tasting dessert. People compare moon cakes to the plum pudding and fruit cakes which are served in the English holiday seasons.【篇二】中秋节的传说Hou Yi (后羿) was a great archer(射手) and architect(建筑家), who shot down nine extra(多余的) suns thathad suddenly appeared in the sky and thus(因此) kept the earth from being scorched(烤焦). He also built a palace of jade(翡翠) for the Goddess of the Western Heaven(西王母). For this, he was rewarded with a pill containing the elixir(长生不老药) of immortality(不朽), but with strings attached--he must fast(斋戒) and pray for a year before taking it. His wife, Chang E (嫦娥), whose beauty was surpassed(超过) only by her curiosity, discovered and swallowed(吞)the pill and in no time soared(高飞) to the moon and became a permanent(永久) resident(居民) there. Upon reaching the moon, Chang E, in dismay(沮丧), coughed up the pill, which turned into a jade rabbit that, day and night, pounds out a celestial(天上的) elixir for the immortals.Another permanent lunar resident of Chinese origin(出身) is Wu Kang (吴刚), a shiftless(偷懒的) fellow who changed apprenticeships(学徒年限) all the time before disappointing(使失望) his last master, who was an immortal. From him Wu learned to be immortal himself, but he was punished(惩罚) by being required to chop(砍) down a cassia(肉桂) tree in the moon, an impossible mission. The cut in the tree heals(痊愈) completely the same day, so Wu Kang is still chopping away for eternity(永远). Some Chinese crave(渴求) to drink his cassia blossom wine(桂花酒).The Chinese believe that the moon is at its largest and brightest, and Chang E at her most beautiful, on the 15th night of the eighth lunar(阴历) month. They are at least half-right, for at that time most of China is in the dry season and the moon looms brightest. It‘s also cool then, a perfect time to celebrate the harvest which has just concluded; hence(因此), the Mid-Autumn Festival is also called the Harvest Festival. The festival is a time for family reunions(团聚) to appreciate the moon (赏月) and eat moon cakes together. Bathed in bright moonshine and with the company(陪伴) of chrysanthemum(菊花) and cassia blossoms, poets(诗人) eat crab meat(蟹肉) and moon cake, drink tea and wine, and versify the night away.【篇三】中秋节庆祝方式Celebration wayMidautumn Festival in Singapore is quite lively. 冲刺2024年中考英语必考题型终极预测(重庆专用)专题03 阅读理解(记叙文) 15篇(2023·重庆渝中·重庆巴蜀中学校考模拟预测)Candy is smart, talented and really nice. As a team leader, she wishes Frank, a member of her politics project, did his part as required. But rather than criticize (批评)him, only to find that Frank kept falling behind. It ended up that other team members, who had to take on more work, while Frank himself complained that he was not treated fairly. How did poor Candy get into this mess? The primary reason was that Candy failed in a key part of leadership—the duty to provide clear feedback(反馈)for team members. This isn’t simply a duty but a correctness.Failing to question or criticize Frank’s work, Candy was in fact unkind. Many people are not a failure, like Frank. They’re just in the wrong place, and still left in the dark. What they really need is feedback from their leaders. However, Candy didn’t bring out a gift in Frank.A leader had better use open, honest, continuous and clear feedback to help solve someone’s best fit in their job or in the organization. This method also avoids surprises. It’s not uncommon to see someone suddenly removed from a team. Maybe it serves them right, they wouldn’t have been caught off-guard (猝不及防)because they would have been receiving open, continuous and clear judgment of their performance. Then why is it so hard for leaders to give good feedback? People always like to be liked, so they avoid anything that may cause unpleasantness. But that kind of feedback usually helps members find the right place for them. If you just only like to be liked, the chance of being respected is really low. However, you have a chance of being liked. Of course, the most difficult part for a nice leader is criticizing someone.Back to Candy’s case. Not telling Frank how he was on the team only made a hard situation worse. But with a different mindset, she could have led her team to success and have been a likeable and critical leader.1.The word “gift” in Paragraph 3 probably means “ ________”.A.present B.ability C.pride D.praise2.According to this article, what is necessary between leaders and team members?A.Being nice to team members is likely to win leaders great respect.B.Criticizing team members results in serious complaints to the leader.C.Open and honest communication is a must for leaders and team members.D.Praise and encouragement from leaders bring out better team performance.3.Based on the passage, which of the following is TRUE?A.Candy should patiently encourage Frank to try his best.B.Candy should gradually kick Frank off her team.C.Candy should politely show Frank the improvement he made.D.Candy should clearly tell Frank her judgment of his performance.4.What is the best title of the passage?A.Become a Good Leader B.Set a Good TeamC.Frank’s problem D.Cindy’s Worry(2023·重庆大渡口·统考二模)①Walking around the city, you will see girls wearing hanfu on the underground or people wearing T-shirt with Chinese characters in the streets. This is one of my Chinese teacher’s favorite Chinese idioms (习语), Deyuwangquan. It comes from Zhuangzi and the meaning of it is that you are used to getting help from others but don’t show your thanks to them. When I studied this idiom in the United States, I read traditional Chinese characters (汉字). The character for“fish” has four dots (点) at the bottom. However, when today’s Chinese students study this idiom, they read simplified (简化的) characters. The character for “fish” only has a line at the bottom. This simplified character is easier to write. However, why are the four dots replaced by a line, rather than something else? And how many of you have thought about this? This simplification of Chinese characters started in the 1950s. The purpose was to improve literacy (文学). Simplified characters are easier for people to read and write. However, they fear that over-simplifying Chinese characters may cause some cultural heritage (遗产) to be lost. The first four dots at the bottom of the character for “fish” come from even older characters. These characters not only mean fish but also look like a fish. There are hundreds of such characters in Chinese. Each of them has a story behind its meaning. Some people have suggested that schools should teach traditional characters. But Chinese is already among the most difficult languages to read and write. To save time, perhaps we should still learn and use simplified characters. However, traditional Chinese characters are valuable and should stay, too. You may take some time to learn about them and the stories behind. In this way, you will help pass down Chinese culture and also have some fun. 25.We can use the idiom “Deyuwangquan” to describe ________.A.Linda, who is warm-hearted and always ready to help othersB.Cindy, who always forgets things and makes everything a messC.John, who is interested in fishing but not very good at itD.Bob, who is successful but not thankful to those who helped him26.________ is the traditional character for “fish” which the writer first read in the US.A.B.C.D.27.From the passage, we can learn ________.A.Chinese is one of the most difficult languages to read and writeB.the simplification of Chinese characters started in the 1960sC.it takes more time to write simplified Chinese charactersD.it’s meaningless to pass down traditional Chinese characters28.The passage mainly tells us something about ________.A.Chinese history B.Chinese idioms C.Chinese characters D.Chinese teachers(2023·重庆江北·校考三模)There were many fantastic boats in South Lake. But it was not until I met my music teacher that I realized this definition (定义) was too shallow (肤浅的).②When I first arrived at my music class at school, I didn’t have any knowledge of how to play the flute (长笛) at all. I couldn’t get the basic notes right. It seemed like a dream for me to perform in front of the school. However, my music teacher, Mr. Nevola, encouraged me to work toward my dreams. He did a lot for his students, including me.③He took a lot of time in finding the right flute book for me and spent extra (额外的) time teaching me. WhenI was unable to remember the notes, he taught me the trick: FACE. F means “fa”; A means “la”; C means “do”; E means “mi”. This way I can remember the notes much more quickly.④He also tried to make music class fun. We played games that helped develop our sense of rhythm (节奏感) and shared our favorite pieces on certain days. We talked about the background of music pieces from all over the world and learned about the development of music in the US. Sometimes when we were too tired, instead of forcing us to practice our instruments, Mr. Nevola would talk about relaxing things.⑤Thanks to Mr. Nevola’s fun teaching, I truly fell in love with the flute. 【第⼀篇:The Hen and the Little Girl】 In a country home, a mother hen and her cute chicks were living happily. A little girl came to visit the country home, but was very bored. One night, the girl went into the chicken house. As soon as she went in, there was disorder. Here and there cries of the chickens could be heard. The father, who was inside, woke up. “What‘s going on? Why are you bothering the chickens?” “Because I’m bored.” “You have to sleep now, go inside.” The girl went into the chicken house, again, the next day. There was a racket again, as the chickens were frightened. The moon in the night sky was worried. This time, the little girl‘s father will not be forgiving. Finally, the sleeping father woke up. “Why are the chickens crying? By chance” The father was angry and came out to the yard. “What’s wrong with you? Is it okay to bother animals that can‘t talk? You need to be punished.” When the little girl saw her father’s angry face, she began to cry. “It is true that I bothered the chickens, but I was bored yesterday. But today I went in to apologize to the chickens. I was going to hug the chickens.” When the father heard what his daughter said, a smile quickly appeared on his face. “You are truly my daughter.” The father praised his daughter. He was proud of his daughter that knew how to apologize. The moon in the sky gave a big laugh, too.【第⼆篇:The Mermaid Princess】 In the deep, sea palace, there lived a mermaid princess. Whenever she sang a song with her beautiful voice, everyone envied her. However, the mermaid princess wanted to go to the outside world. “I would like to hear the beautiful sound of birds. “The king promised her. “When you turn 15 years old, you can go and see the life above the sea.” “Oh, I can‘t wait! Finally, it was the mermaid princess’ 15th birthday. She went up to the sea. The princess saw a great ship. And she saw a handsome prince standing on the ship. The princess fell in love with him at first sight. However, as thunder and lightning struck, the ship sank on its side. The prince lost his consciousness and fell deep into the sea. “Oh, no! The prince fell into the water. Let me hurry and save him.” The princess saved the prince and laid him on the sand. The princess took care of him all night. When the prince opened his eyes, the mermaid princess hid from him. She thought he might get scared by her tail. Just then, a princess from a neighbor land came out to see the sea and she saw the prince. The princess watched from a far the prince who always came out to the sea at night. The princess was very sad. She wanted to become a human so that she could be with the prince. She asked the witch. “Okay, I will make you into a human, but you must give me your beautiful voice. If the prince marries someone else, you will become a water bubble. You must marry the prince.” On the sand, she drank the medicine that the witch had given her. With the big sudden pain, she turned into a human. Just then, the prince who came out to the sea saw the princess. The prince took the princess who could not speak, to his palace. Although she could not speak, she was happy to be living near the prince. The prince was going to be married to a princess from a neighbor land. “I will be marrying the princess that saved my life.” ‘I am the one that saved your life.’ But, her voice could not be heard. At night, the mermaid princess‘ older sisters came up to the sea. They gave the mermaid princess a knife and said, “If you stab the prince with this knife, you can be a mermaid again. If you don’t, you will become a water bubble.” On the night of the wedding, the mermaid princess was going to stab the sleeping prince with the knife. But, she could not kill the loving prince. “It‘s best that I just turn into a water bubble. “When morning came, the mermaid turned into a water bubble and went up to heaven.【第三篇:The Naked King】 Long, long time ago, there lived a very fancy king. The king changed his clothes 12 times a day. He really liked to show off to his subjects. “My clothes are the best in the world.” One day, two tailors planned a trick. “Why don‘t we teach that stupid and extravagant king a lesson. He doesn’t even worry about his starving people.” “That‘s right! He thinks he’s the best.” The two men went to see the king. “Oh, the world‘s most marvelous king! We have brought the most beautiful cloth in the whole world.” “However, not everyone is able to see the cloth. Those that tell lies and have bad hearts are not able to see this fine cloth.” After the king heard those words, he became very interested. “Could there really be such a cloth? If I can make clothes out of those cloths, my clothes will be the best in the whole world. Hurry and show me the cloth.” The king began to get more and more greedy. The tailors pretended that the cloth was real, as they showed it to the king. The king and the fine-spoken subjects could not see anything before them. But, none of them could show that they could not see it. The king and his fine-spoken subjects just looked at each other. Then, the tailor quickly spoke in a arrogant manner.“Well, is there no honest man here? How can you look at this beautiful cloth and not praise it.” Among the subjects, one of them made a flattering comment out loud. “Wow! This is the first time that I have seen such a wonderful cloth.” All the subjects tried to be the first to praise the cloth. Then, the king was amazed with the beauty of the cloth, too. The king gave the money and ordered them to make his clothes. For several days, the tailors pretended to be making the clothes. The king became worried and told one of his subjects to go and see how the clothes was coming along. The subject could not say how much the clothes had been completed. As hard as he looked, he could not see it. But,he could not say that he was unable to see it. Instead, he pretended to be amazed at how beautiful it was coming along. A few days later, the tailors came back with the King’s clothes. “Here you are, try on this clothes.” The king was not able to honestly say that he could not see the clothes. He, too, pretended to look over it. One man said, “Your majesty, lets go and show off this finest clothes in the world.” The subjects all agreed at the same time. “Yes, that is a good idea.” The king walked out to the street very proudly and walked with pride. All the people in the land came out to see the king‘s new clothes. They were all surprised, though. Just then, a little girl shouted out, “Our king is naked!” Then everyone said,“He’s naked, he‘s naked!” The king now realized the truth. However, with only his undergarments on, he still walked in a dignified manner. Even though he was embarrassed, he could not stop walking. Why not? Because he was the king.【第四篇:The Elf of the Rose】 There once was a rose bush in full bloom in a big garden. An elf was living in the most beautiful rose in the garden, and she was so small that people could not see her. She had long blond hair to her toes and beautiful wings. One day, it got dark before she got home. She had been dancing and flying around so she didn‘t have time to get back to the rose bush. Suddenly, the weather got cold, evening dew started to fall, and a strong wind began to blow. She could not stay in the other flowers because they were all closed up. “What am I going to do now? It’s too cold.” She got scared because she had never stayed outside at night. There was a twinkling light from the other side of the garden. “It‘s too cold, and I am scared. Maybe I should spend tonight there.” The elf flew to a pavilion on the other side of the garden in a hurry. But there were already two people in the pavilion. A beautiful young lady and a handsome man were praying that they would never be apart from each other. They were in love.“But we must go far away from each other soon.” “Your brother is sending me away because he does not like our marriage. Oh my bride, please wait for me until I come back to you!” She sobbed and nodded her head. She pulled off a rose from the bush which was aside her and kissed it. Then she gave him the rose as a token of her love. At that moment, the rose opened up. The elf went into the rose secretly. At that moment, a horrible looking man entered the pavillion. He was the brother of the young lady. “What? You want to marry my sister?” He drew his sword and cut the young man and buried him under a linden-tree. “He is gone forever now, and he will forget my sister. How dare the poor little boy want to marry my sister? It is common to die during a trip, so nobody will suspect me of murdering him.” The brother brushed up his clothes and disappeared. The elf woke up and found she was in the middle of a dark forest. “Oh my! The forest is moving!” But it was not a forest. It was the hair of the young lady’s brother. She shivered with fear and anger. When they got in the house, the young lady from the garden was crying. The man looked at his sister and gave her a chilly smile, and went to bed. “Oh my lover, my dear fiance, please come back safely.” She sobbed sadly and fell asleep. The elf sat down quietly spreading her wings and told the young lady what she saw that day. “What I am trying to say now is not a dream. If you dig under the linden-tree in the garden, you will find your fiance. It is your brother who killed him.”The beautiful young lady woke up. She secretly went out of her room and dug under the linden-tree as the elf had said. Her lover was lying in the ground, cold dead. She cried out sadly and killed herself right next to her fiance. After some time passed, a flower called, ‘Jasmine’ came into bloom at the place where the two lovers had died. The Jasmine had big white flowers on the branch and had a sweet smell. Incidentally, the young lady‘s brother was walking down the road and he pulled off a branch of the jasmine and put it near his bedside. When night fell, two bees with poison stingers came out of the jasmine flowers and bit the brother’s ears and mouth, and then they vanished.【第五篇:The Ugly Duckling】 A mother duck was brooding on her eggs near the margin of a pond. A flock of lovely baby ducks was soon born, making sweet peeping sounds when the eggs were broken. But one egg remained unbroken. “It is strange. Why has this egg not broken?”。

(1)For many years scientists have said that the earth is getting warmer. Now they have found something new-hot cities! In the southern US, they have found that cities become very hot in summer. For example, the city of Atlanta in Georgia has rooftop temperatures of up to 50 degrees while it is 27 degrees in the streets! At night, the outsides of the building stay so hot that the heat of the city causes storm over the city.China also has the same kind of problems. Every year more farming land is used for factories or offices. More housing is needed, too. As people become richer, they buy more cars. Now roads are needed and new car parks are built in the city centers. This all makes the city hotter. It is not easy to change the situation. City planners say that we should plant more trees in the middle of cities. Every new street should have trees on both sides, they say. Trees make the temperatures lower, so we should have more trees in our parks and squares. Also we should paint our roofs white. If we do this, they do not become so hot. Every roof in a hot and sunny country should have solar roof panels. The electricity from these can be used to run the air conditioners in the building.People continue to cut down forests around the cities. This makes the problem worse. Cities are growing faster and faster. By the year 2025, 80%of the world’s population will be living in cities. If we go on like this, there will not be enough farmland to feed everyone in the world.1. The best title for the passage is _______.A. The earth is getting warmerB. More land is neededC. Lenin and his wife Krupskaya translated a long English book into Russian. But when they went to England in 1902, English people couldn’t understand a word they said and they couldn’t understand what was said to them. These days more and more foreigner s are coming to China and more Chinese are going out to foreign countries to work or study. So the spoken language is becoming more and more important.Speaking, of course, can’t go without listening. If you want to pronounce a word correctly, first you must hear it correctly. Thy sounds of the Chinese and English languages are not exactly the same. If you don’t listen carefully, you’ll find it difficult or even impossible to understand the native speakers.Well, what about writing? Like speaking, it’s to exchange ideas. People generally use shorter words and shorter sentences in their writing. The important thing is to make your idea clear in your head and then to write it in clear lively language.Chinese students read far too slowly. If you read fast, you understand better. If you read too slowly, by the time you have reached the end of a page you have forgotten what the beginning is about. When you meet with new words, don’t look them up in the dictionary. Guess the meaning from the context. Y ou may not guess quite correctly the first time, but as new words come up again and again in different contexts, their meaning will become clearer and clearer. If you look up every word, you’ll never finish a book.Students of a foreign language need a particular knowledge, the knowledge of the life, history and geography of the people whose language they are studying. First of all, V alentine’s Day is not a holiday from work. No one gets a day off. In many countries it is observed by sending cards to your friends and candy or flowers to your husband or wife if you’re married, or to your boy friend or girl friend if you’re not married. In Japan, some girls even give their fathers chocolates. Why is this holiday for people in love called V alentine’s Day?One explanation comes from a Christian man whose name was something like“V alentine”. He lived at a time when the Roman Emperor refused to allow any Roman soldiers to get married for any reason. Many couples came to V alentine to be married. So he would secretly marry them in a Christian ceremony. He was discovered and put in prison by the Emperor. One tradition says that he wrote notes to his friends by marking on leaves and then throwing them out of the window of his prison. The leaves were shaped like a heart. V alentine was killed on February 14th and V alentine’s Day recalls his tragic death. On V alentine’s Day, American elementary school children make or buy V alentine cards, write the name of a classmate on them, and take them to school and put them in a special V alentine’s Day box. And then on that day the box is opened, the cards are taken out and given out.1. Which of the following is true about V alentine’s Day?A. It is observed by sending flowers to one’s husband or wife.B. They learn languages, history, politics, geography, physics, chemistry and mathematics. Others go to school to learn a skill so that they can make a living. School education is very important and useful. Y et, no one can learn everything from school.A teacher, no matter how much he knows, can not teach his students everything they want to know. The teacher’s job is to show his students how to learn. He teaches them how to read and how to think. So, much more is to be learned outside school by the students themselves. It is always more important to know how to study by oneself than to memorize some facts or a formula. It is actually quite easy to learn a certain fact in history or a formula in mathematics. But it is very difficult to use a formula in working out a math problem. Great scientists befor e us didn’t get everything from school. Their teachers only showed them the way. Edison didn’t even finish primary school. But they were all so successful. They invented so many things for mankind. The reason for their success is that they knew how to study. They read books that were not taught at school. They would ask many questions as they read. It often discomforts me greatly. I have to eat the food even if I don’t want to, because it is considered bad manners in the West to leave one’s food on the plate. I have already noticed that when a Chinese sits at a n American’s dinner party, he very often refuses the offer of food or drink though he is in fact still hungry or thirsty. This might be good manners in china, but it is not in the West at all. In the US it is impolite to keep asking someone again and again or insist on him accepting something. Americans have a direct way of speaking. If they want something, they will ask for it. If not, they will say “No, thanks”. When an American is fed with beer by the host, for example, he might say, “No, thanks, I’ll ta ke some Diet. Pepsy–cola if you have it.” That is what an American will do. So when you go to the US, you had better remember the famous saying, “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”.1. From the passage, we know that the Chinese are usually _______ to the guests.A. eager to give all they haveB. politeC. impoliteD. cold2. When a foreigner has dinner with a Chinese host, he often feels _________.A. pleasantB. uncomfortableC. satisfiedD. happy3. Why does a Chinese often refuse the offer of food or drink at a dinner party? When an American wants something to eat or drink at dinner, he will _________.A. go and take it himselfB. refuse the hosts offerC. ask for it directlyD. ask another to fetch it for him5. “When in Rome, do as the Romans do.” Means ________.A. when you get to Rome, you should act as the Romans doB. when you stay in Rome, you should do as the Romans doC. when you are in a new country, you should do as the natives doD. Romans can be example for you(10)When we can see well, we don’t think about our eyes very often. It is only when we can not see perfectly that we come to see how important our eyes are.People who are nearsighted can only see things that are very close to their eyes. Many people who do a lot of close work, such as writing, reading and sewing, become nearsighted. Then they have to wear glasses in order to see distant things clearly.People who are farsighted suffer from just the opposite problem. They can see things that are far away, but they have difficulty reading a book unless they hold it at arm’s length. If they want to do much reading, they must get glasses, too.Other people do not see clearly because their eyes are not exactly the right shape. This, too, can be corrected by glasses. Some people’s eyes become cloudy because of cataracts(白内障). Long ago these people often became blind. Now, however, it is possible to operate on the cataracts and remove them. When night falls, colours become fainter to the eyes and finally disappear. After your eyes have grown used to the dark, you can see better if you use the sides of your eyes rather than the centers. Sometimes, after dark, you can see a small thing to one side of you, which seems to disappear if you turn your head in its direction. This is because when you turn your head, you are looking at the thing too directly. Men on guard duty sometimes think they see something moving to one side of them. When they turn to look straight at it, they can’t see it any more, and they believe they were mistaken. However, this mistake happens because the center of the eye, which is very sensitive in daylight, is not as sensitive as the sides of the eye after dark.1. We don’t know that our eyes are of great importance until ___.A. we think about our eyesB. we cannot see clearlyC. we wear glassesD. we have to do much reading2.
A→Q→A(A=Article,Q=Question),即先从整体去阅读文章,后看问题,还是Q→A→Q,即先把整个问题快速看一遍,然后带着问题在文章中找答案?选用前者的学生是心里原因在作怪,总觉得不读文章就看题好像肯定做不对似的,心里很不踏实。
