There are ones for sports, music,drama, politics, community service - you name it! I'm part of the Gobbledegook Society where we write stories and poems using made-up nonsense words. We even publish our own little magazine called The Jibber-Jabber each term. It's such a fun creative outlet.Cambridge also has some brilliant traditions like formal halls.A few times per term, we get to dress up in our absolute finest for a super fancy three-course meal in the college's dining hall. We're talking posh gowns, dress shoes, the whole nine yards! The meal is served up by smartly dressed servers and there's lots of ceremonial stuff like saying Latin graces before eating. I always feel like a little princess at those dinners.To wrap things up, let me tell you one of the craziest Cambridge customs - the time they let us run riot through the streets! It's called Caesarian Sunday and happens once a year in the winter. For that one day, we're allowed to go totally wild - play pranks, make lots of noise, and generally cause mischief in town before getting chased off by a ceremonial 'Footbearer' representing authority. Last year, a bunch of my mates and I let off tons of confetti bombs all over the market square. You can visit the study where Newton had his famous apple incident. Or check out the notebook where Charles Darwin first jotted down his evolutionary theories. We've got underground tunnels and hidden rooms that were used to shelter soldiers during wars. My friends and I like to play explorers and see if we can uncover any lost treasures or secret passages!The best part is, we don't just sit in classrooms reading from textbooks all day. The professors take us on field trips to museums and botanical gardens. We get to go punting on the River Cam and have picnics on the backs. That's what we call the sprawling green spaces behind the colleges. On warm days, you'll see students scattered all over, soaking up the sun between classes.Cambridge has so many fun traditions too. Once a year, there's a huge chocolate festival where you can try every kind of chocolate imaginable - even chocolate curry or chocolate beer if you're feeling adventurous! A Brief History
in 1209, scholars taking refuge from hostile townsmen in Oxford migrated to Cambridge and settled there. At first they lived in lodgings in the town, but in time houses were hired as hostels with a Master in charge of the students.
