英语(人教新课标)九全Unit 8阅读理解专练题及答案(共16页)Unit 8 It must belong to Carla第一部分:选择型A“Save the whales!” That's what the picture on Jake Smith's bedroom wall said. Jake liked having a picture that said something important; that showed he cared. He just never expected to get a chance to save a real whale, one right in his own neighbourhood. It was a Saturday morning when the newspaper first reported the whales' coming. A group of the animals were swimming close to the beach in Jake's hometown. All the local people rushed out to the beach to see them. They were expecting a beautiful show, better than a movie, but nothing they'd have to do anything about. Then one whale swam in their direction, directly towards land. It came in with the waves, and when the waves receded,it stayed. Its huge body rested on the sand. Suddenly, Jake and his family and all the others were no longer sightseers. They had to become rescuers. A few people ran towards the animal. They pushed and tried to force the whale back into the water, but it was no use.An animal rescue service team soon arrived in a truck with heavy lifting machinery, to help move the animal. Jake and his family couldn't do much on the beach, so they went back to their house and made sandwiches and hot tea for the rescuers. At least, Jake thought, they could help in some way.Back at the beach, they offered the food to the rescuers and were happy to see that it was needed. It was getting dark. Some people lined up their cars along the beach and shined the headlights on the sand. The rescuers would not give up. After trying many times they were finally able to lift the whale into the water.Everyone cheered when it headed out to sea. It swam out about a mile and then disappeared for a moment under the sea. Is your mobile phone directory full of phone numbers of people you don't really want to talk to? Do you go out with people from work or school more often than with your real friends? Do you say yes to invitations because you think you should, not because you want to? If you answered yes to at least two ofthese questions, then perhaps you need to "edit your friends".Nowadays people like to spend a lot of time with people at work or classmates at school. The result is that we don't have enough time to see our real, close friends. As our lives get busier, it becomes more important to spend the little free time we have with people we really want to see, people we love and who really love us.Who are the friends you need to edit? A few years ago I read a book about how to get rid of unnecessary possessions(物品). It said you should ask yourself about each thing you have: Is it useful? Do I really like it? Do I feel better every time I look at it? If the answer is no to any one of those questions, you should throw it away. Maybe we should ask similar questions about our friends. What kind of friends will you probably need to edit? Sometimes it's an old friend. Somebody who you used to have a lot in common with, but who, when you meet now, you have very little or nothing to say to. Or it might be a new friend who you get on quite well with, but who is taking up too much of your time. Next time one of these people calls you and suggests a meeting, think "Do I really want to seethis person?", and if the answer is no, say no, and make an excuse. That way you'll have more time to spend with your real friends.1. People need to edit their friends when .A. they have moved to a different areaB. they have no time with their real friendsC. some of their friends don't talk very muchD. their friends are people from work or school2. People don't need to edit their .A. real friendsB. young friendsC. old friendsD. new friends3. What does the writer want to tell us in Paragraph 3?A. We should often throw some possessions.B. Most of our friends are not necessary at all.C. We shouldn't treat our friends as possessions.D. We should ask ourselves who our real friends are.参考答案1—3、BADKWhen people go to England, they must learn somethingabout transportation there. In England, cars, buses and bikes must keep to the left side of the street. 九年级期末题型突破13 阅读理解(C篇)阅读单选(C篇)一Smile Train is a charity (慈善团体) that helps the millions of children around the world, who suffer from a facial defect (缺陷). The defect happens when a baby’s top lip or mouth doesn’t form properly before birth. Eating and drinking is very difficult for these babies. The charity provides free operations, which give these children a new smile, and with it, new hope and a new beginning.Children with the defect need all the help. Although many sufferers are accepted by their families, sadly, others are not. In some countries, children with this defect are often abandoned at birth because their parents feel ashamed of them or cannot afford the operations. The good news is that the operation is not difficult. It takes less than an hour and costs the family nothing. The charity raises money and finds the right medical volunteers to perform the operations.A Smile Train doctor from the UK said, “Each child who has the operation is given a second chance at life. 句子还原及信息搭配【2015某某】DWhy is setting goals(目标) important? Because goals can help you do and experience everything you want in life. Instead of just letting life happen to you, goals allow you tomake your life happen.Successful people in life imagine how their life should be andset lots of goals. 61 It's like having a sign to show you whereyou want to go. Think of it this way. There are two drivers. Onehas a place to go to clearly in mind which can be found on a map. He can drive straight there surely without any wasted time. The other driver has no goal, or a map. 62 But he drives aimlessly (漫无目的地) around, never getting anywhere, just using up oil. Which driver do you want to be?63 They decide what they want in life and then get there by setting goals and making plans. Unsuccessful people usually just let life happen by accident. Goals aren’t difficult to set and they aren't difficult to reach. 64 You are the one who must decide what to achieve and in what direction to aim your life.Research tells us that when we write a goal down we are more likely to achieve it. 65 They are harder to forget. Also when you write your goals in your own way, you are able to make yourself realize situations that will bring you nearer to your goal.根据材料内容,从下面五个选顶中选出能填入文中空缺处的最佳选项,使短文意思通顺、内容完整。

阅读下列短文,根据短文内容选择最佳答案。
I strongly believe that we can have an important effect on anyone we meet. The right words at just the right time could totally change someone’s life.Years ago, that’s what happened to me. My l ife was completely changed because a simplethree-word phrase was delivered at the right time in just the right way. When I was 3 years old, my parents discovered I was totally deaf. After asking many educational specialists, doctors, psychologists, and parents of other deaf children, they decided to put me in a “mainstream” school. All of my classmates and teachers would have normal hearing. From the time I started going there in the third grade, I was the only deaf child at Blue Creek Elementary School in the small, quiet town of Latham, New York. From almost the first day there, the other kids made fun of me and called me names mainly because of my hearing aid and the way I talked.I worried throughout elementary school because, in addition to the pr oblems of “fitting in” with the other students, I also struggled with most of my schoolwork.Although I seemed outgoing, my self-esteem was quite low. I saw myself as an ugly kid wearing a weird-looking box around his neck who wasn’t even smart enough to keep up with the other kids. Mrs Jordan, my fifth-grade teacher, changed all of that with a simple three-word phrase. Mrs Jordan was a large woman with a voice that bounced (反弹) off the walls of her tiny classroom. One morning, she asked the class a question. I read her lips and immediately raised my hand. For once I knew the answer. But, when she called on me, I was afraid. I took a deep breath and nervously answered Mrs Jordan’s question.I will never forget what happened next.Mrs Jordan pointed directly at me. With sparkling eyes and a wide smile she cried: “THAT’S RIGHT, STEPHEN!”For the first time in my young life, I was an instant star. My confidence soared like never before.I decided right then and there that I would make a place for myself in this world. No matter how many obstacles I might meet in life, I knew I could overcome them. A simple three-word phrase delivered with incredible enthusiasm (热情) had totally changed my young life. “THAT’S RIGHT, STEPHEN!”1. A “mainstream” school is probably where ______.A. students with disabilities go to studyB. students can receive extra careC. most students do not have disabilitiesD. there are many wonderful teachers2. Even if you don't buy anything more, by the time you get your bill the following month, you will have more than 35 to need paying back. And every day, interest keeps adding up. 3But the good news is that a credit card is convenient. 4 . Besides, the credit card companies also offer extra services. People who are blind may have a chance to see things clearly—by wearing bionic eyes.A blind eye can no longer sense light, but a bionic eye can use a camera to “see”the environment and send information to the mind. Now the bionic eye only allows patients to see lights and unclear shapes. A bionic eye with very clear pictures could be just in a few years away.Digital moneyWe used to pay with cash for everything we bought. Now when we use a Wechat Pay or Alipay to shop, money is spent without us seeing it. That means we are already using digital money. People only need to take a mobile phone wherever they go. Using these ways is much easier than searching our pockets for change. It is also safer than carrying a lot of cash. It's reported that people in Sweden completely stopped using cash last year, and the US might be next.Selfdriving carsUnlike a human driver, a selfdriving car won't be influenced by a phone call, the radio or something outside the window. Sensors(探测器) and cameras on the car would allow it to follow the rules of the road and keep a safe space from other cars. This would greatly make the number of road accidents smaller. Food shortage(匮乏) is a big problem in the world. Right now, there are more than 1,000 million hungry people in the world according to the UN. Many children go to sleep with hunger, and 15 million of them die because of hunger each year. There are several reasons why there are food shortages. But men don't walk without shoes in the snow!In 1906, another climber saw more than footprints. Far off, he saw a very large animal standing on two legs. Chinese people are among the most hospitable people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they would be surprised at the warmth that they would receive as guests. When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve you snacks (小吃) like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also chat with you, never letting you feel lonely. At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat(款待) their guests with a big meal. Most people want to be happy, but few know how to find happiness. Here are some tips about the discovering happiness in your life.Allow yourself to be human. When we accept emotions — such as fear, sadness, or nervousness — as natural, we are more likely to overcome them. Refusing our emotions, whether positive or negative, leads to sadness and unhappiness.Happiness mostly depends on our understanding towards the outside world, not on how much money we have. Mostly, our level of well-being is decided by what we choose to focus on and by our understanding of the things that happened. For example, do we see failure as the mother of success, or do we see it as a chance of learning?Simplify! We are, generally, too busy, trying to do more and more activities in less and less time. Yet sometimes the more we expect, the more we will lose. Sometimes we even lose our happiness by trying to do too much.Remember the mind-body connection. What we do — or don't do — with our bodies influences our mind. Regular exercise, enough sleep, and healthy eating habits lead to both physical and mental health.1.Do most people know how to find happiness?2.How many tips for happiness are talked about in this passage?3.What does happiness mostly depend on?4.How do we sometimes lose our happiness?5.What is the passage mainly about?答案:1.No./ No, they don't.2.4 / Four.3.Our understanding towards the outside world.4.Sometimes we even lose our happiness by trying to do too much.5.What happiness is and some tips about the discovering happiness in our life.(十五)What makes people happier: money, having happy friends or having happy neighbors? I asked doubtfully because they seemed all right."Yes," the woman answered weakly and lowered her head. But when they started to present their problems, things became unclear. The daughter had a fever, but her temperature was OK. The son had an earache, but he couldn't tell me which ear hurt. It seemed that the mother was pretending (假装) to cough.Something was wrong. But I only explained that it might take a while before a doctor could meet them. "Take your time, please," said the mother. I checked their charts—no address.
