Before the class:Let’s chant. Review Present Progressive Tense
Step 1 Greetings and Warming-up
1.Greet the students as usual.
2.Review:
1)Guessing Game: Ask one student to do some actions and ask others to guess what he/
she is doing.
I’m reading a newspaper.
I’m eating food now.
I’m listening to a CD now.
I’m playing the guitar now.
2. Ask and answer: Show some pictures on the scene and ask the students what he/ she
is doing or what they are doing. After that, the teacher will introduce the topic “weather”.
There is a competition between the groups. If the student get the right answer, his/ her group can get a star.
Step 2 Presentation and practice
1. Present the five new words by showing the pictures of weather.
1)Present the sentence patterns by showing the pictures of weather.

Read each new word in groups.
2) Practice:
(1)Look at the pictures carefully and then answer the questions.
(2)Pair work and then show the conversations out.
2. Read and match
Guide the students to read( look at) the picture in 1a carefully. Ask some questions like:
How many cities are there in the picture?
How is the weather in these cities?
Give them one minute to match the words with the picture, and then check the answers together.
3. Guessing Game.
1) Practice the sentence patterns: ---How is the weather? ---I t’s …
Ask and answer: Show some pictures on the scene and ask the students how the weather is.

(2)Pair work and then show the conversations out.
Step 3: Listening:
1. Before listening:
1)Help the students read the city names: Beijing, Sahnghai, Moscow, Toronto and Boston.
2)Ask and answer about the cities on the world map:
What’s the mane of this city?
It’s….
3) Lead-in: Peter is talking about the weather in the five cities.
2. While-listening:
1)Listen and cirle the city names in the form.
2) Listen again and write these city names in the boxes above.
Play the recordings for the students twice, and then check the answers by giving the chances to the teams who put up hands first. Read the conversations group by group.
3.Post- listening:
1)Then read the tapescripts after the tape.
2) Role-play the conversations.
Step 4 Production
1.. Ask the students to talk about the weather in the five cities in pair.
