1 I dont know how long I havent read the original English book. I finally finished reading the Great Gatsby at the end of 20xx. So write down a little personal feeling of reading. In this book, the author narrates the story in the first person voice and tells Gatsbys short life story. He used a "marvelous" modifier, which is a more life-style name. From the perspective of English, "the great" is very well used. Its a great experience to transform from a poor household of unknown origin into a rich man. But the luxury of material in his eyes, are not as important as Daisy. Party constantly, the reception of people who do not know, experience everything, just to be close to her. Mingming is very close to each other, but it seems very far away. Gatsby is a nostalgic person. He thinks that he can go back to the past five years later and live a happy life with Daisys old mirror. However, he overestimates Daisys love for himself. He thinks that she can be happy only when she is with him. In fact, she loves him, but she loves herself more. Gatsby thought that Daisy was too perfect, too idealistic, for fear that she would receive little harm, just like all the people in love, beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, and all the shortcomings are advantages. Gatsby, it seems, did not see any shortcomings, only perfect, completely immersed in his own imagination, unable to extricate himself. Love is consistent to this point, so great love, ordinary people cant do it! Daisy is lucky to be betrayed by her husband Tom, full of insecurity and emptiness. Gatsbys appearance, only for her one person, loves her so deeply, in her luxurious tedious life, ignited the spark. However, meeting Gatsby again is more stimulated by Gatsbys rich and luxurious life. Suppose that Gatsby reappears in her life as a poor person, whether she would like to see him more or have more intersections. She is used to the life of a lady, but also the ideological snobbery, the concept of the rich formed from childhood. Although Gatsby is rich, she seems to be an upstart after all. She cant stand a few words of Toms instigation, and the hereditary rich family is more popular with her. Even if Tom betrayed her, she still chose to live with him and dare not step out of the original life circle. When seeing the palm extended by gates to the Daisys house on the other side, when seeing Gatsby as nervous and excited as a child because Daisy is going to Nicks house for afternoon tea, when Gatsby let Daisy say she doesnt love Tom in New York, Daisys indecision and Toms slander of Gatsby, Daisy begged Tom to take her home, and he really sympathized with Gatsby. He loves too humble, in this relationship into too much, can not extricate themselves, stubborn and stubborn. Think of Daisy more than your life. After Daisy accidentally bumped Toms mistress to death, he just waited outside Daisys house to make sure she was safe. His good friend Nick asked him to leave. He had to wait for Daisys phone call, but it was Wilsons shot. But Tom and Daisy still left, when nothing happened, cold and heartless. Gatsbys death may be a better ending, with his dedication to Daisy. Otherwise, its hard to imagine what his life would be like without daisy. In this way, to keep a perfect image in the readers mind for a long time, to imagine each other and to expect love. I dont want to mention Gatsbys indifference and depression after his death. Only Nick as a spectators final evaluation is the most touching. In his last chat with Gatsby, the sentence "they are rotten crowd, youre worth the whole damn bunch put together" that he left left gave Gatsby a warm feeling in his lonely love seeking life. I was very moved to see it. Gatsbys greatness was recognized and resonated with readers. Such a dedicated and lovely Great Gatsby is believed to be the dream partner in the hearts of all girls. Its enough to have such a person in life. Finally, a picture of Leonardos Gatsby will be posted. If you are interested, you can see the movie. 2 The Great Gatsby is a short story published by Francis Scott kifitzgerald in 1925. At the end of the 20th century, the American academic authority selected one hundred of the best novels among the hundred years of English literature. The Great Gatsby ranks the second in the list of Contemporary Classics. The appearance of this novel established Feis position in the history of modern American literature, and was hailed as the symbol of the American jazz age and one of the representative writers of the lost generation. The Great Gatsby is set in the upper class white circle of American society in the 1920s. It is composed of everything I see, experience and feel in the first person. I, Nick, a small poor employee, lived next to the rich man Gatsby, and accidentally broke into the paper addicted upper class society. In the atmosphere of singing and drinking, I was surprised to find the huge secret hidden in Gatsbys heart. No one knows how Gatsby succeeded, how Gatsby became rich, or even how Gatsby looked. But no one does not know Gatsbys name and the banquet he held. Gatsbys heart is to repeat the past and recover the past, his favorite woman in his life daisy. Daisy and millionaire Tom have been married, but unfortunately, her husband has an affair. When the two meet again five years later, Gatsby may still be Romeo, while Daisy is no longer Juliet. Gatsbys stubborn pursuit of heart yearning, but reality has shattered his illusory and almost naive dream with a cold attitude. The author describes a vivid Gatsby for us from the perspective of the third party with a cool and warm style of description of Impressionism, outlines a nearly perfect and accessible dream for us, and provides us with an opportunity to witness the envy of the upper class society, but mercilessly breaks the charm of the people in front of us with a determined attitude The colorful heart, the end of the story, the coldness of Gatsbys funeral and the noise of the banquet, Gatsbys ardent persistence and Daisys indifference have formed a strong contrast. Although reality has broken the dream, it also makes the living see the hypocrisy and indifference of reality. 3 Recently, I just finished reading the Great Gatsby book, and I feel a lot of emotion, because he is not only talking about dreams, society, but also human nature. In the era of everyones pursuit of the "American Dream", a person with a dream to resist seems to have touched heaven for a time, but ultimately defeated fate. When people fall, they end up. The American version of "seeing him rise from Zhulou, seeing his banquet guests, seeing his building collapse". After Gatsbys death, there was no one willing to take care of his affairs or even come to the funeral to send him to the last leg, which was in sharp contrast to the bustling scene of the party in his villa. Maybe you think you cant get anything from this person here, but will you be involved? How sad. Hypocritical human feelings and collective silence are common faults of human nature? His former friend said, "we should understand that when we talk about friendship, we should talkabout it when we are alive, and when we are dead, there will be no friendship." Compared with what I get from others, maybe I value my conscience more. But in the Great Gatsby, each full of independent human nature is the real human nature of the world. To understand the world, we must first understand human nature. This book is already a good revelation of human nature. I often think of Carnegies weakness in human nature, the whole description of human nature. Say: human being is a high-level animal. In his nature, he is greedy, hateful, and infatuated with all kinds of desires, which is hard to fill, so the world suffers a lot. Just like many middle-aged people nowadays, there are old people and small people, and they still need to pay back the house loan in the middle. They dare not leave their jobs and do not dare to make any changes. There are layers of mountains on their bodies. They cant breathe. The burden is too heavy and they cant take off. After all, human beings are still social animals. They are in a complex social relationship. Its too difficult to be indifferent. They can only compromise. Born to be human is born to die. Human nature cant stand the test and scrutiny. All of them are the same. Human nature is not worth it, and human life is not worth it. So dont hold too much hope, think about what you want and do what you like to do. However, there are often many people who dont know what they like to do and what they want. Its sad. Gatsbys consistent love for Daisy, in any case, takes Daisy as the first. The most outstanding thing is to stay at Daisys house after the car accident and worry that she will be embarrassed by Tom. Gatsby recognizes his goal and insists on his pursuit in the flashy world. But I have to say that his dream, Daisy, is not worth it. She loves only herself. Maybe it was brainwashed by too many idol dramas and jitangwen before. They have infinite and beautiful reverie and hope for love. They think that there must be someone who loves you as much as love life. But the more they grow up, the more they find out that no, people always love themselves more than others, and they love themselves the most, especially for their little pay. They must be more rewarded than themselves, except for their parents Its funny that when I think about the deep meaning behind it, I dont think its romantic. In fact, I believe there is love in the world, but I just dont believe it will happen to us. However, I am still totally convinced by Gatsbys faithful pursuit of love, even though what he pursues is like the green light that is never accessible, even left behind by him. A lot of life is the process of chasing the green light in his heart. If Gatsby is not so persistent, he will not become Gatsby. This is in line with our real life, and its hard to keep his original mind like Gatsby, even though his dream has been Utopian. In fact, they are very similar to the times we live in. What should we stick to and pursue in our life? I think its worth everyone thinking about their life. The green light of life is often like this. Its the persistence and pure yearning for dreams that support us. When we get close, its not the same thing. But after all, we have tried our best. Although just passing by.。

The Great Gatsby, a literary masterpiece by F Scott Fitzgerald, has left an indelible mark on my mind This story, set against the backdrop of the Jazz Age, is not just a tale of love and wealth but a profound exploration of the American Dream and its illusionsThe protagonist, Jay Gatsby, is a figure of both tragedy and aspiration His pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a woman who represents the upper crust of society, is not merely a love story but a symbol of his longing for acceptance and social status Gatsby's elaborate parties, filled with music, champagne, and a sea of strangers, are a desperate attempt to create an image of himself as a man of consequence Yet, beneath the surface of all this extravagance lies a profound loneliness and insecurityThe character of Daisy, on the other hand, is a complex blend of charm and shallowness She is trapped in a world of materialism and social conventions, unable to break free from the expectations placed upon her Her inability to choose Gatsby over her comfortable, albeit loveless, marriage to Tom Buchanan showcases the power of societal norms and the limitations they impose on individual freedomThe theme of the American Dream is central to the story Gatsby's rise from poverty to wealth is seen as the embodiment of this dream However, despite his newfound fortune, he is unable to bridge the gap between himself and the old money elite This shows that the American Dream, as often perceived, is not as attainable as it seems It is a mirage that lures people withthe promise of success and happiness but often leaves them disillusioned and brokenThe setting of the novel, the roaring twenties, adds a layer of vividness and context The era was one of rapid change, excess, and moral ambiguity The contrast between the opulence of the East Egg and the more humble West Egg serves to highlight the social divide that exists within societyThe narrative style of Fitzgerald is truly remarkable His prose is both elegant and accessible, painting a vivid picture of the characters and their world The use of symbolism, such as the green light at the end of Daisy's dock, adds depth and meaning to the storyOne of the most poignant aspects of the novel is the realization that Gatsby's idealized version of Daisy and the life he hopes to have with her is nothing but a fantasy His unwavering belief in this dream ultimately leads to his downfall This makes one question the nature of dreams and the price one is willing to pay for their pursuitThe relationship between Gatsby and Nick Carraway, the narrator, is also worth noting Nick serves as the voice of reason and observation, providing a contrast to Gatsby's passionate and often blinded pursuit Through Nick's eyes, we see the flaws and beauty of Gatsby's character, as well as the harsh realities of the world they inhabitThe novel also offers a commentary on the nature of love Gatsby's love for Daisy is unconditional and selfsacrificing, yet it is also onesided and ultimately unfulfilled This raises questions about the true meaning of love and whether it can overcome the barriers of class and social statusIn conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a powerful and thoughtprovoking novel that continues to resonate with readers today It forces us to confront the harsh truths of human nature, the allure and emptiness of wealth, and the fragility of our dreams It is a reminder that behind the glitz and glamour often lies a world of pain and disappointment This story has made me reflect on my own aspirations and the true value of the things I strive for in life It has taught me that sometimes, the pursuit of a dream can blind us to the reality around us, and that true happiness may lie not in achieving our ideals but in accepting and finding meaning in the present。

The Great Gatsby is a classic novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, and it has left a deep impression on me after reading it. The story is set in the 1920s, a time of great social and economic change in America. It revolves around the mysterious and wealthy Jay Gatsby, who is in love with Daisy Buchanan, a woman from his past who is now married to Tom Buchanan. The novel explores themes of love, wealth, and the American Dream, and it left me with a range of emotions and thoughts. One of the most striking aspects of The Great Gatsby is its portrayal of the American Dream. Gatsby is a self-made man who has amassed great wealth, but he is ultimately unable to win the love of Daisy or find true happiness. This reflects the idea that the pursuit of wealth and success does not guarantee fulfillment, and it made me reflect on the true meaning of happiness and contentment in life. The novel also delves into the idea of the corrupting influence of wealth and the emptiness of materialism, which are timeless themes that still resonate today.Another aspect of the novel that stood out to me is the complex and flawed characters. Gatsby is enigmatic and tragic, while Daisy and Tom Buchanan are shallow and selfish. The characters are all deeply flawed in their own ways, and their actions and motivations are often driven by their own desires and insecurities. This made the story feel more real and relatable, as it reflects the complexities and contradictions of human nature. It also made me reflect on the idea of moral ambiguity and the blurred lines between right and wrong. The novel's setting in the 1920s also adds to its allure. The Jazz Age is depicted as a time of excess and decadence, with lavish parties, extravagant lifestyles, and a sense of recklessness. This backdrop serves as a stark contrast to the inner turmoil and disillusionment of the characters, and it highlights the stark disparity between appearance and reality. The vivid descriptions of the era made me feel like I was transported back in time, and it added depth and richness to the story. In conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a thought-provoking and emotionally resonant novel that has left a lasting impact on me. Its exploration of the American Dream, its complex characters, and its vivid setting all contribute to its enduring relevance and appeal. The novel's themes and messages continue to be relevant in today's society, and it serves as a timeless reminder of the fragility of human aspirations and the complexities of the human experience. I highly recommend this novel to anyone who appreciates deep and introspective literature.。

The Great Gatsby: My Reflection on the NovelAs I delved into F. Scott Fitzgerald's masterpiece, The Great Gatsby, I was instantly transported to the dazzling world of the 1920s. The novel weaves a captivating tale of Jay Gatsby, a mysterious millionaire, who is driven by love, wealth, and the pursuit of the American Dream. My reading experience was filled with a kaleidoscope of emotions, as Fitzgerald's words painted a vivid picture of a bygone era. In this reflection, I would like to share my thoughts and impressions of The Great Gatsby and how it resonated with me.The novel opens with the introduction of Nick Carraway, the narrator, who moves to West Egg, Long Island, and becomes neighbors with the enigmatic Jay Gatsby. Through Nick's perspective, we witness the opulence and extravagance of the Roaring Twenties. Fitzgerald's descriptive language transports readers into the grand parties, luxurious mansions, and the superficiality that defined the era. As I immersed myself in this lavish setting, I couldn't help but be enthralled by the decadence and allure of the time.Jay Gatsby, the central character, represents the epitome of the American Dream. Born into poverty, Gatsby amasses a fortune through dubious means, solely driven by his desire to win back his lost love, Daisy Buchanan. This relentless pursuit of wealth and status struck a chord with me. It made me contemplate the sacrifices people are willing to make for love and the lengths they will go to recreate the past. Gatsby's unwavering determination and unrequited love evoke a sense of tragedy that resonated deeply with me.Throughout the novel, Fitzgerald challenges the idea of the American Dream, exposing the hollowness behind the facade of material wealth and social status. The characters in The Great Gatsby are trapped in a never-ending cycle of discontent, constantly searching for fulfillment in all the wrong places. The stark contrast between the extravagance and the emptiness underlying each character's life serves as a powerful critique of the society of that time, as well as a timeless commentary on the human condition. One of the most poignant themes in the novel is the impossibility of recapturing the past. Gatsby's desperate attempts to recreate the love he once shared with Daisy are ultimately futile. This theme struck a chord with me personally, as I reflected on the transient nature of life and the significance of cherishing the present. Fitzgerald's masterful portrayal of Gatsby's longing and disillusionment serves as a cautionary tale, reminding us of the futility of dwelling in the past.As I reached the climax of the novel, the tragic demise of Gatsby left me contemplating the nature of success and the cost of one's dreams. The Great Gatsby delves deep into the dichotomy between illusion and reality, forcing readers to question the fragility of our ambitions and the consequences of single-minded pursuit. The poignant ending left me introspective, pondering the choices we make and the impact they have on our lives. In conclusion, The Great Gatsby is an extraordinary novel that offers a profound exploration of the human condition. Fitzgerald's impeccable storytelling, combined with his keen observations of society, made this a truly transcendent reading experience. Through its themes of love, wealth, and disillusionment, the novel resonated with me on a deep level. The characters, the setting, and the overall atmosphere of the 1920s came to life within these pages. The Great Gatsby is not just a tale of the past but a timeless masterpiece that continues to hold relevance and captivate readers to this day.。

The north American continent, is hundred years ago, the economic development of the train sped forward; Friction machines roar, but also too much to hide a moment of the heart. The book, that history is a little mark.Investigate its likelihood is a person's tragedy, is the tragedy of the society as a whole, may not be important. Think first, young and beautiful, sketched a period of time; Flies away and alternative fate lane person, in the heart of love is someone else's confidante. The deep love, the injury the farthest, cut; Not reality, immersed in the beautiful dream, but blurred the forward field of vision. Weakness of gunfire, all the dreams and beautiful, vulnerable to burst, scattered in the wind, without trace.Gatsby, his great, because he was the degree of potential energy, but because of his pursuit of the good feelings. He hasn't done anything wrong, but also had to the empty rooms. A dream, how to do, easy, but also how to away, difficult to achieve. In an age of people pursuit of material, to be backed by real emotions. Buckish, stained with money, odour, lost a condition is a pure heart. That is worth pity era, these moving words, bring us infinite daydream.《了不起的盖茨比》英语读后感篇2"The great gatsby is a harbor of" American dream "in the literature writer Fitzgerald's works, Fitzgerald said his own extraordinary, with his parents is different also, don't even think of themselves as the son of parents, he has come from the self Platonic idea.In this article, the hero that gatsby is a unique thought of the people, he also have Platonic love. He put himself as the son of god, he thought he should be god's career service, his pursuit ofa "vast, secular, ostentation of beauty", obviously he imagine himself become Christ's character. Seventeen, he decided to change name, from the original James gates to jay gatsby, jay gatsby is said to be English Jesus, God ` s boy pronunciation variation. But the irony is that, from the moment he changed his name, he began to pursue the so-called beauty and kindness, also began his tragic life. He saw Daisy buchanan as he pursues the incarnation of beauty. When he saw her, he knew that she had put his ideal and his life together. He knew his heart to heart with god, must be single-minded, never heart side wu chi. When he kissed her for the first time, "she is just like a flower bloom for him, and the embodiment of this ideal is done." On Daisy, gatsby's dream became flesh and blood. He desire and Daisy together to realize their dreams. However, Daisy cannot act as the role. She is a just a miss the bourgeoisie for the highest goal in life, no thoughts, there is no sentiment, shallow false, bored, nothing to do. She never to realize gates than his dream to sacrifice their own vested interests. While gatsby himself could not achieve their dreams, of course, his idea is too unreal. He and Daisy's husband Tom buchanan possess wealth, the difference between two people is at least he used his wealth to pursue a kind of "beauty", and try my best to get it. However, he didn't win it, finally, George Wilson, is Tom's mistress's husband in Daisy couple killed gatsby conspired and egged. His dream completely shattered. Gatsby's failure is the fundamental reason is that he did the "American dream" has been out of date, his opportunity had little s dream come true.I felt sorry for gatsby, he is so single-minded, but in the end was hurt by their favorite woman. Of course he is praiseworthy in some places. He can read the love is beautiful, and not likemost people associate love and interests. But he really misled by his ideal, he did not see time and occasion, he shouldn't be on the right people also is reluctant to part with the past memories after married. And Daisy this person too vain, too greedy. To some extent, gates than the final fate has a lot to do with her. 《了不起的盖茨比》英语读后感篇3There is a dream, rooted deeply in every American, from the very beginning of theMayFlower, that the great grandfathers of all Americans had been contemplatingand seeking, and of all Americans that has been written in the second sentence of theUnited States Declaration of Independence which states that "all men are created equal" and that they are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."The American Dream , is a belief that as long as the United States after a hard struggle will be able to achieve the ideal of a better life, that is, people have to work through their own hard work, courage, creativity and determination to move towards Prosperity, rather than rely on specific social classes and other assistance. This is usually on behalf of the people in the economic success or entrepreneurial spirit.Yet, the dream has already became a nightmare, that in the money-orienting,power-persuing minds springing up since the Industry Revolution,Americans have fallen in,not only the way of life through which Americans rifling for more luxurious enjoyment, but the morality of heart that they persued prosperity with all costs of which they were oblivious.Luckly,we had people who saw the reality much more clearly than the blind masses, while those were considered Critics of sorts. They pointed out that many versions of the dream equateprosperity with happiness, and that happiness may not always be that simple. These critics suggest that the American Dream may always remain tantalizingly out of reach for some Americans, making it more like a cruel joke than a genuine dream. Fitzgerald was one of them who went the first step that American fiction has taken since Henry James, because he depicted the extolled grandest and most boisterous, reckless and merry-making scene (T.S.Elliot)。

第一篇:了不起的盖茨比读后感(英文)What Makes The Great Gatsby Great?Recently, I have read a classical novel, The Great Gatsby, Francis Key Fitzgerald is the author, who is one of the most outstanding writers in 20th century.I think all the plots in the novel are similar to the something happens in the today’s society. The story is told by Nick(Daisy’s cousin),who witnesses a lot the ugly aspects of the society and human characters. Here is the story goes: Tom and Daisy married for a time and live in East Egg. In their opposite, living a very great wealthy man, called Gatsby. He hold parties day and night and get famous for this. Actually, Daisy and Gatsby fell in love a few years ago. At that time, Gatsby was very poor and dispatched into Europe because of war. Then, they broke up and Daisy married Tom, the second-generation rich. Latter, Gatsby comes back with social position and big fortunate, and he continues loving Daisy. At a car accident, Daisy kills the Tom’s mistress. To protect Daisy, Gatsby takes all the responsibility of the accident. Finally, Wilson (the husband of mistress) shoots Gatsby under the instigation of Tom. And Tom and Daisy set foot on Europe’s travelling.I think everyone feels pity for the Gatsby, for his infatuation to Daisy and for his foolish love, like the following two descriptions.①“--Was Daisy driving? ---Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I’ll say I was.”(p154)②“the chauffeur –he was one of Wolfshiem’sprotégés-heard the shoots-”(p172).As we can see Gatsby undertakes the responsibility of the accident and that’s his cold ending. So what makes The Great Gatsby Great?I think the answer also is the image of Gatsby. Because of his profound love to Daisy even though the others become selfish and sophisticated in the society. He devotes himself to making big fortune for expecting Daisy’s return; he take responsibility of car accident at the expense of being put in the prison. Yes, this great man displays something called Profound Love when the society members’hearts becoming colder and colder. And I always feel sympathetic to Gatsby’s consequence. We may say how stupid he is to pay so much to Daisy, but in other words, how persistent he is to his believing about love. He always thinks that all his behaviors can make Daisy change her mind and come back.Gatsby is a tragic hero in the novel, maybe his profound love and strong faith lead to his bad ending. But I always believe this two valuable things are the writer appeals to in that time, also works in today’s. Here’s my understanding to the question What Makes The Great Gatsby Great? The disillusion of the American dream- The Great Gatsby book reviewThe Great Gatsby is the representative work of American writer Francis Scott Fitzgerald. It is a true reflection of 1920s. The book is a classical novel and has profound meaning of the essence of the American dream’s illusory. The writer showed the American social after the World War I in the book. It uncovers the money worship andhedonism in the Jazz Age and people’s selfishness and indifference in that time. What the novel describes is a tragic story about the disillusion of the American dream. The story happened after the World War I. A young business man named Nick Carraway rent a house in the Long Island. In the opposite house there lives his cousin Daisy Buchanan and her husband TomBuchanan. In the villa next lives Jay Gatsby. Gatsby holds big party every weekend in his villa but there is few people has seen his face. After a while Nick knows that when Gatsby was a soldier, he fell in love with Daisy. However, Daisy finally married with a rich man Tom Buchanan. When the war is ended, Gatsby began to do illegal business and become a millionaire in high society. In order to draw Daisy’s attention, he bought a big house in opposite to Daisy’s and often holds big party. Gatsby and Daisy meet again in the help of Nick. When this is known by Tom, he is burst into anger and they have a quarrel. With extremely nervous, Daisydrives the car and killed Tom’s mistress Myrtle accidentally. However, Tom suggests Myrtle’s husband Wilson that it is Gatsby who killed her wife. In extreme anger Wilson shoot Gatsby and suicide. In the end of the book, when Nick held a funeral for Gatsby, none of his old friends join. Nick is disappointed to the dark high society of New York so he leave the city and go back to his home in the American Midwest. The theme of the novel is to present the tragedy of the American dream’s disillusion by showing the story of Gatsby’s pursuing of dream. The so-called "American dream" means that in America everyone is equality of opportunity. People can realize their dream and achieve success just by themselves’struggle. The American dream has always been an ideal that people are convinced of and pursue of. It is a kind of spiritual strength that promote America to developing and flourishing quickly. After the World War I, America has entered into anunprecedented era of prosperity and the American dream becoming a crazy worship to money. The wind of money worship prevailing. So the American dream has been deteriorated as the social develop. In this novel, the short life of Gatsby has go through the process of dream from start to burst. It symbolize the rise and burst of the American dream at the same time. One side of his American Dream is the dream of money. He realize this dream by illegal business which made him from a poor boy to a millionaire. However, the other side of his dream is thedream of love and it make him into a sad ending. In fact, his loving dream is another form of his money dream. At first when he fell in love with Daisy, he was attracted by her material life. He yearns for not so much Daisy’s love as Daisy’s high society life. Daisy is the combination of love and money which he’s longing for. She is the represent of a beautiful life. However, in real life, Daisy is far from what Gatsby imagine. She is a selfish, shallow and timid girl and all she wants is money and high society life. Finally Gatsby’s dream broken and it also symbolize the broken of the American dream. The essence of the tragedy of Gatsby is the tragedy of American idealism. But then again, although Gatsby’s effort did not pay off, his spirit of struggling to realize his dream and change the fate is moving and deserves our admiration and learning. 13061069 The Great Gatsby This is a story about Gatsby and his pursuit for the ‘American dreams’. During the World War One, the poor soldier Gatsby fell in love with an upper class girl named Daisy. But due to the wide gap between them, Daisy decided to marry Tom, a man of her class, instead of Gatsby. Broken-hearted Gatsby then held the conviction that money was of the greatest importance. He strongly believed in the‘American dreams’, which as we all know, advocates that one can achieve whatever he or she likes through continuous efforts. He strived for five years to become a millionaire and bought a villa near Daisy’s to attract her. He was too addicted to his fantasy to realize that Daisy was no longer the lovely girl she used to be. Eventually, he was killed because of her crime. I can’t help thinking of the theme Fitzgerald trying to convey. One thing may be the lonely void of people’s spiritual world. I am deeply impressed by chapter 3. There were two circumstances underlying it. The first is the lack of dreams. Some people, especially the people of the upper class, lived an aimless life. They wasted their time and money and took an indifferent attitude towards life. They chased for temporary ecstasy but lost their identity in eternity, namely Daisy and Tom. The second is the misleading of dreams. Some others like Gatsby, bravely pursued their dreams, yet going to a diverged way unconsciously. They might mix up the concept of a richer life and a happier life, viewing a higher social state and a peaceful fulfilled life as equality. Unfortunately, when they were busy chasing their dreams, everything changed with time. W they ignored what they had already had and lost the alert to the constant changes. As far as I am concerned, this story can serve as a reminder for us. To live a meaningful life, we should carefully choose some dreams to pursue. And in the process of fulfilling our dreams, we should always be concious about what we really desire. Anyhow, only by pursuing the proper dreams can we finally get to the deep springs of happiness. We Die for Our Dreams——Comments on The Great Gatsby It was in a book of Murakami Haruki that I knew The Great Gatsby for the first time. He said that The Great Gatsby was a fantastic fiction so that I immediately developed a strong interest in it. At that time I wondered that what masterpiece would be worth such compliments from an excellent writer like Murakami Haruki. It must be more than a masterpiece.I read The Great Gatsby several years ago when I was in senior high school. Actually I was reading it for fun, the reason of which is obvious that under the great pressure of schoolwork I wouldn’t spare one more hour to receive another boring sermon from anybody. However, I found it wasn’t that attractive as I imaged so I quitted reading it after getting the superficial main idea of it. Gatsby was decisive and stupid; his dream lover Daisy was vulgar and ruthless; Daisy’s husband, accordingly, was a total jerk. There are neither admirable characters nor exciting plot at all. It was definitely a masterpiece but wasn’t my cup of tea. As time passed by, I realized that even the same person tended to develop an extremely different opinion towards the very book. Now I read it all over again and I found something deep and thought-provoking about it.Gatsby was described as an arrogant and tasteless businessman who was quite wealthy. He held parties almost every night to gather those so-called rich and genteel people. However, his real purpose was to meet his first lover—Daisy who had already married another rich and famed man. As he wished, he got to meet Daisy and found that she was still in love with him. But he didn’t realize that Daisy wasn’t what she used to be. She was no longer that innocent girl who waited for her lover, full of joy and wishes. In the end, Gatsby died for Daisy, the woman he had loved for lifetime. With little guilt or sorrow, Daisy quickly got rid of the whole mess and moved onsmoothly as if nothing has happened, as if there has never been such a man named Gatsby who was in deep love with her and died for her. Gatsby’s love story was filledwith cheat and cupidity. The statement that Gatsby and Daisy were in love with each other was merely a misconception. Or rather, they used to be in love for a short period but in the end, time changed everything and true love turned out an absurd lie. From another perspective, neither of them is to blame in this tragedy named love. Daisy was a typical woman of that time, who had pretty face as well as empty brain, married a rich man, spent their life going for various parties and immoderate shopping, and turned a blind eye to their husbands’stuff. They had original pureness and rosy dreams which finally were eroded by the onrush of depraved age. And Gatsby was just a man who was still stuck in previously romance and tried his best to earn back his lover. He was oriented, diligent and sometimes kind-hearted. He had the courage to chase his dream while most people didn’t, though his attempt ended up nothing.Somebody said that be prepared for the nothing stuff and nowhere land, and keep walking with dreams. Maybe this makes sense to some extent. Even if we can predict the end in the very beginning, we will still orient ourselves in the thick fog and move ahead until death. Pursuit for dreams—after reading The Great GatsbyI have heard of the famous novel The Great Gatsby for many years. However, until recently have I got the time and mood to read it. But due to the wide gap between them, Daisy decided to marry Tom, a man of her class, instead of Gatsby. Broken-hearted Gatsby then held the conviction that money was of the greatest importance. The Great GatsbyZhang Chao 2013706031Last week we watched a movie which is named.”The Great Gatsby”, the film gave me a lot of touches in love and American dream. The film is told us the story of Gatsby by Nick’s tone.He rent a small house nearby Gatsby’s luxurious mansion where hold a grand banquet every weekend night. The character Gatsby is overwhelmedby only one thing that he does not possess, that is to be loved.Gatsby and Daisy loved each other when Gatsby was young, but because of Gatsby’s poor family they were broken up.Then Gatsby was joined the First World War.While Daisy was married to Tom who was a rich dandy, but her marriage was not happy because Tom had a mistress. There was a lost love in Gatsby’s deep heart. So he is overlooking the river green light in every night. The green light represents Gatsby’s hopes and dreams for the future.Gatsby’s love for Daisy is real and strong, and he can do everything to win Daisy. So he spent much money to hold the big party in order to attract Daisy’s attention. But in the end Daisy chose her husband not Gatsby.Because her husbandis so rich that he can do everything he likes and he can also offer Daisy a better life, and finally wins Daisy’s love. The end of story is a tragedy that Daisy goes together with her husband to another city happily while Gatsby is murdered mistakenly.People think that the American dream offers faith in the possibility of a better life , its attendant illusion is the belief that material wealth alone can bring that dream to fruition. As for Gatsby, the symbol of his final American Dream is to win the loveof pared with them, Gatsby is the only hero living in the impulsive society. Please remember that material gain is only a fruit of freedom, not its root.

This time, it is the work of Li Jihong, a talented translator. In the novel, Gatsby was born in a poor family and fell in love with Daisy when he was young. However, he was unableto marry Daisy because of poverty. The reality made Gatsbys fantasy in his heart disillusioned for the first time. Daisy is a very realistic rich woman, and she immediately married another rich businessman Tom. Later Gatsby became a millionaire by his own efforts and luck. Gatsby was still nostalgic for his former lover after he made his fortune. He just wanted to see the green light at Daisys Wharf and set his home by the sea.At the beginning of the novel, the author uses a lot of ink to describe Gatsbys scene of entertaining guests and friends in the mansion, as well as his feelings after meeting Daisy again. Although Daisys husband Tom was adamant against it, they were still recklessly sweet. Just as they were about to walk to the "happiness Avenue", Daisy accidentally hit a passer-by while driving, which resulted in the death of passers-by. The authors use of such dramatic colors is really boastful. Gatsby was willing to give up his life and wealth for daisy. In sharp contrast to this, Daisy and Tom are selfish and indifferent. They deliberately excuse themselves to go away from home and blame Gatsby for all the accidents. Once again, the reality coldly shattered his illusory and almost naive dream. At first glance, the title of "amazing" Gatsby, but at the beginning, I had been thinking hard. I just couldnt figure out where he was? Its only after a lot of aftertaste that we have an epiphany.Gatsby is a great man. His greatness lies in his simple and simple view of love. He thinks that love is the world of two people. Gatsby can live a rich and upper class life from poverty to wealth, but he is not moved by money and fame. All his purposes are only to meet Daisy again until his life ends in tragedy. Gatsbys greatness lies in his wish I want to exchange my life for Daisys life. Knowing that we cant do it, I applaud Gatsbys courage again!"The Great Gatsby" is such a story of "the grandiose age, the last classical love dream" with tragic color! 3Summer order. Just finished reading "the Great Gatsby", write down the feeling after reading it. To be honest, I dont really understand the meaning of it. Maybe I dont know enough about the American dream and the jazz age.But I still felt the infinite sadness revealed in the novel. At the beginning, I was intoxicated with gold. The lively party scene was in sharp contrast with the funeral of Gatsby that no one except the hero was willing to attend. Even Daisy, the only important person in Gatsbys heart, never sent a telegram to send a flower. How sad!I can only write some miniature of Gatsby and the world I saw. Gatsby is a fool who is loyal to love. He used to be a self disciplined man, but in order to get Daisy, he would not hesitate to walk outside the rules and laws to make himself rich. It seems that Daisy can choose him!Toms arrogance and even the people who attended the party were still full of insults to Gatsby. Daisy chose a rich and powerful man as the marriage object among many suitors (even if she didnt love him so much). The shock and alienation after hearing Gatsbys moneys coming were the choice of those hateful upper class people for that era -- money and power. At the end of the story, he was misunderstood and shot in his own yard. No one came to see him off. Even Daisy didnt。

But I believe that all is destined, not only his success, but also his miserable, dramatic ending.First, Gatzby meant to be succeed, which was determined by his personality. He was such an absolute perfectionist, fairly speaking, a paranoiac, that he never accept he was inferior to others in all kinds of aspects. He scheduled his life when he was young in order to achieve his goal. He couldn’t live like Tom who dissipated his time on women, also couldn’t like Wilson live so meaninglessly, and his ambition made it impossible for him to be content with common life. After the moment he denied his poor family background, changed his name into Jay Gatzby, he either succeed, or die.No matter how, he will succeed. I always believe it because his characteristic promised. And I also believe Gatzby would fall in love with a lady with a celebrated background. Because he was a perfectionist , he must long for a charming, wealthy, graceful aristocracy. Daisy was just a representation of perfection, a concrete thing in his dream. However, Daisy falls far short of Gatzby’s ideal. She is beautiful and charming, but also fickle, shallow, and hypocritical. She is careless person who smashes thing up and then retreatsbehind her money. She allows Gatsby to take the blame for killing Myrtle ever though she herself was driving the car. Finally, rather than attend Gatsby’s funeral, Daisy and Tom move away, leaving no contact address.Gatzby knew exactly what kind of person she was. And the very beginning of the novel, he said “Her voice is full of money”. But how can it matter? His puzzle of life would be incomplete without Daisy, and as we know, he was such a paranoiac that never let it happen. It’s impossible for him to restart.Gatzby’s obsession about Daisy and Daisy’s characteristic determined the trend of plot. So, it is destined. And not only from the plot development we can say Gatzby’s fate was destined, but also from the writer himself. Technically, Gatzby wasn’t a only fictional character, but also the reflection of writer, Fitzgerald himself. He also had a complex relationship of his own. His own experience made him believe that there’s a huge gap between the “natural” rich and the ”new” rich.In rich boy, his another novel, he showed his attitude directly: Let me tell you about the very rich. They are different from you and me. They possess and enjoy early, and it does something to them, makes them soft where we are hard, and cynical where we are trustful, in a way that, unless you were born rich, it is very difficult to understand. They think, deep in their hearts, that they are better than we are because we had to discover the compensations and refuges of life for ourselves. Even when they enter deep into our world or sink below us, they still think that they are better than we are. They are different.Because of the poverty and adversity they had been through, they always cherish the first glamorous thing dropping in their life. Some of them even take it as the highest goal in life, like Gatzby who considered Daisy as his whole world. When their dream faded out gradually, they might behave like Gatzby, deceive themselves to protect their “little green light” in their heart until their hearts are beaten to pieces by reality. At last, I want to use the final sentence in The Great Gaztby as the end, which I consider as the most profound ending I have ever read and inspire me a lot. Gatzby’s dream was always behind him, from the moment he met Daisy and fell in love with her. So what he did was just striving hard back into the past against the current of time, like the ending says:So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.。

1"The great gatsby is a harbor of" American dream "in the literature writer Fitzgeralds works, Fitzgerald said his own extraordinary, with his parents is different also, dont even think of themselves as the son of parents, he has come from the self Platonic idea.In this article, the hero that gatsby is a unique thought of the people, he also have Platonic love. He put himself as the son of god, he thought he should be gods career service, his pursuit of a "vast, secular, ostentation of beauty", obviously he imagine himself become Christs character. When he kissed her for the first time, "she is just like a flower bloom for him, and the embodiment of this ideal is done." On Daisy, gatsbys dream became flesh and blood. He desire and Daisy together to realize their dreams. However, Daisy cannot act as the role. She is a just a miss thebourgeoisie for the highest goal in life, no thoughts, there is no sentiment, shallow false, bored, nothing to do. She never to realize gates than his dream to sacrifice their own vested interests. While gatsby himself could not achieve their dreams, of course, his idea is too unreal. He and Daisys husband Tom buchanan possess wealth, the difference between two people is at least he used his wealth to pursue a kind of "beauty", and try my best to get it. However, he didnt win it, finally, George Wilson, is Toms mistresss husband in Daisy couple killed gatsby conspired and egged. His dream completely shattered. Gatsbys failure is the fundamental reason is that he did the "American dream" has been out of date, his opportunity had little s dream come true.I felt sorry for gatsby, he is so single-minded, but in the end was hurt by their favorite woman. Of course he is praiseworthy in some places. He can read the love is beautiful, and not like most people associate love and interests. But he really misled by his ideal, he did not see time and occasion, he shouldnt be on the right people also is reluctant to part with the past memories after married. And Daisy this person too vain, too greedy. To some extent, gates than the final fate has a lot to do with her.了不起的盖茨比英文读后感篇2The novel described for the 20's through the perfect artistic form to sell "the American dream" which liquor nouveau riche Gates compared pursues vanishing, has promulgated the American society's tragedy. However, until recently have I got the time and mood to read it. As soon as I finish reading, I find my previous unwarranted assumption of it totally wrong. This is a story about Gatsby and his pursuit for the ‘American dreams’. He strongly believed in the ‘American dreams’, which as we all know, advocates that one can achieve whatever he or she likes through continuous efforts. He strived for five years to become a millionaire and bought a villa near Daisy’s to attract her. He was too addicted to his fantasy to realize that Daisy was no longer the lovely girl she used to be. Eventually, he was killed because of her crime. After reading it, something reverberates in my heart. I can’t help thinking of the theme Fitzgerald trying to convey. One thing may be the lonely void of people’s spiritual world. I am deeply impressed by chapter 3, where a vivid description of a party is given. There were beautiful girls, drunk men, and boisterous crowds there, but none of them perceived the pointless of their lives and the barren of their minds. To see this phenomenon deeper, there were two circumstances underlying it. The first is the lack of dreams. Some people, especially the people of the upper class, lived an aimless life. They wasted their time and money and took an indifferent attitude towards life. They chased for temporary ecstasy but lost their identity ineternity, namely Daisy and Tom. When they were anxious about the to-gets, they ignored what they had already had and lost the alert to the constant changes. The excellent use of symbolization illustrates this idea perfectly. The imagery of ‘green light’ is the most important symble which occurred three times in the novel. The green-light’s obscure in the mist indicates the dim of Gatsby’s dreams. As far as I am concerned, this story can serve as a reminder for us. To live a meaningful life, we should carefully choose some dreams to pursue. And in the process of fulfilling our dreams, we should always be concious about what we really desire. Anyhow, only by pursuing the proper dreams can we finally get to the deep springs of happiness.了不起的盖茨比英文读后感篇5There is a dream, rooted deeply in every American, from the very beginning of theMayFlower, that the great grandfathers of all Americans had been contemplatingand seeking, and of all Americans that has been written in the second sentence of theUnited States Declaration of Independence which states that "all men are created equal" and that they are "endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable Rights" including "Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness."The American Dream , is a belief that as long as the United States after a hard struggle will be able to achieve the ideal of a better life, that is, people have to workthrough their own hard work, courage, creativity and determination to move towards Prosperity, rather than rely on specific social classes and other assistance. They pointed out that many versions of the dream equate prosperity with happiness, and that happiness may not always be that simple. These critics suggest that the American Dream may always remain tantalizingly out of reach for some Americans, making it more like a cruel joke than a genuine dream. Fitzgerald was one of them who went the first step that American fiction has taken since Henry James, because he depicted the extolled grandest and most boisterous, reckless and merry-making scene(T.S.Elliot).It was five years that Fitzgerald foreseen the latent fatal cancer of Capitalism of American. The Great Gatsby soon came into being,in which first half is comedy, second half is tragidy. In the third--person view,Nike, who learns that his next-door neighbor, who throws lavish parties hosting hundreds of people, is the wealthy, mysterious Jay Gatsby. And the key charactor ,Gatsby, had fallen in love with Daisy in 1917 as an Army Lieutenant stationed near Daisy's hometown, Louisville. After thewar, Gatsby came east and bought his mansion near Daisy and Tom, where he hosts parties hoping she will visit.Befor then Gatsby was a man of integrity and honor, who received great respect form the society to his wealth and power. While after his death,he was merely remembered, forgottern in the flew of time and lust. These parties were fashionable, but pointless. It was only a show-off of Gatsby’s riches and material s uccess. The crowds hardly knew their host; many came and went without invitation. The music, the laughter and the faces, all blurred as one confused mass, showed the purposelessness and the loneliness of the party-goers beneath their marks of relaxation and joviality. All this was typical of “the Jazz Age”, when many people lost belief in American dream and indulge themselves in drinking and dancing. The great expectations which the first settlement of the American continent brings vanish, and so despair and doom set in.In his blue gardens, men and girls came and went like moths among the whisperings and the champagne and the stars…On week-ends his Rolls-Royce became an omnibus, bearing parties to and from the city between nine in the morning and long past midnight, while his station wagon scampered like a brisk yellow bug to meet all trains. And on Mondays eight servants, including an extra gardener, toiled all day with mops and scrubbing-brushes and hammers and garden-shears, repairing the ravages of the night before.“Every Friday five crates of oranges and lemons arrived from a fruiterer in New York----every Monday these same oranges and lemons left his back door in a pyramid of pulpless halves.” (Chapter 3, 52)The exavagent life, the noisy people const itute Gatsby’s parties. However, the depiction of the fashionable andmeaningless parties served to highlight Gatsby’s tragedy by contrasting the grandeur of his party with his violent death, with the frustration of his dream. Gatsby’s funeral was rather d eserted and cheerless compared with his parties. It’s a record of human coldness. Nick had invited some people to come to Gatsby’s funeral. These people were all Gatsby’s so-called friends. They found a lot of excuses for their absence because they knew clearly that Gatsby was no longer useful for them. Gatsby’s generous parties had not brought him even one friend. What’s more, Daisy, once Gatsby’s lover, the real killer, “hadn’t sent a message or a flower”.(Chapter 9, 233)The sharp contrast between the exavagence of the parties and the coldness of the funeral revealed the hypocritical relationship among people and the moral degradation of the Jazz Age.Gatsby, though his wealth came from his criminal activities, was the typical symbol of American dream in that time, and the whole-hearted dedication of Gatsby and his sincere belief in what he did made him heroic, and this submerged the unpleasant details so that they did not seem important in the final outcome,as has the American dreammer who were so stubborn to believe perspirition would bring what they want. The real killer who murderred Gatsby was the society,in which people could become rich overnight by non-moral means.A poor beautiful girl could marry a wealthy boy who may not be handsome for the purpose of being rich, and a young man could find a job in which he would do nothing but be paid. While Gatsby, the true heir to the American dream, was killed by Conspiracy of his lover Daisy ,who was actually stimulated by the vanity fair, and lived in luxury at the cost of Gatsby, to whom without mercy. The cruel reality smashed Gatsby’s dream.Fitzgerald’s comment on the failure of Gatsby’s dream was also a statement on the failure of American dream. The contrast of the dream and the reality significantly indicated a moving away from faith and hope in a world where material interests had driven out sentimentality and faith. What is more, dream, even if it persists, is utterly helpless and defenseless against a material society. It can only be defeated. Gatsby was an example. Owing to his unrealistic dream, Gatsby’s fate turned out to be a tragedy. Because he was not conscious of his unrealistic dream of love and he did not correctly handle contradictions between ideal and reality, Gatsby sunk into this kind of unreal dream so deeply that he can’t wake up. And the final result of Gatsby was surely miserable. The Great Gatsby is Fitzgerald’s finest novel. “sensitive and symbolic treatment of themes of contemporary life related with irony and pathos to the legendry of th e American dream.” --《The Oxford Companion to American Literature》The sharp contrast between dream and reality not only explains Gatsby’s failure at the end, it also explains the meaninglessness of that age. In a word, these contrasts provide the readers with a panorama of 1920s. And in the contrast, the theme of the novel ----the disillusion of the American dream ----is strengthened. In the mean time, the loss of the American dream reflects the corruption of people’s morality.。

What Makes The Great Gatsby Great?Recently, I have read a classical novel, The Great Gatsby, Francis Key Fitzgerald is the author, who is one of the most outstanding writers in 20th century.I think all the plots in the novel are similar to the something happens in the today’s society. ---Yes, he said after a moment, but of course I’ll say I was.”(p154) ②“the chauffeur –he was one of Wolfshiem’sprotégés-heard the shoots-”(p172).As we can see Gatsby undertakes the responsibility of the accident and that’s his cold ending. But I always believe this two valuable things are the writer appeals to in that time, also works in today’s.H ere’s my understanding to the question What Makes The Great Gatsby Great?。

《了不起的盖茨比》英文读后感《<了不起的盖茨比>英文读后感》The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece that has left a profound impression on me F Scott Fitzgerald's vivid storytelling and insightful exploration of themes such as love, wealth, and the American Dream have made this novel an unforgettable readThe story is set in the 1920s, a time of great social and economic change in America The protagonist, Jay Gatsby, is a mysterious and wealthy figure who throws elaborate parties in the hope of winning back his lost love, Daisy Buchanan Gatsby's unwavering pursuit of Daisy is both touching and tragic His love for her is so intense that it blinds him to the reality of their different social statuses and the corruption and shallowness of the world they inhabitOne of the most striking aspects of the novel is Fitzgerald's portrayal of the characters Gatsby is a complex figure, filled with hope and idealism, yet tragically naïve Daisy, on the other hand, represents the superficiality and materialism of the upper class Tom Buchanan, Daisy's husband, is a brute and a symbol of the arrogance and entitlement of the wealthy The supporting characters, such as Nick Carraway, the narrator, add depth and perspective to the storyThe theme of the American Dream is central to the novel Gatsby's rise from poverty to wealth is seen as the embodiment of the American Dream, but his ultimate failure and downfall reveal the hollowness andunattainability of this dream Fitzgerald shows how the pursuit of wealth and status often leads to corruption, emptiness, and a loss of true values The parties and extravagance of the Jazz Age only mask the underlying moral decay and spiritual povertyThe writing style of The Great Gatsby is also remarkable Fitzgerald's prose is both elegant and evocative His descriptions of the parties, the mansions, and the landscapes are vivid and immersive, transporting the reader to the world of the novel The use of symbols, such as the green light at the end of Daisy's dock, adds layers of meaning and depth to the storyAnother important aspect of the novel is its exploration of love and its many complexities Gatsby's love for Daisy is pure and unwavering, but it is also onesided and ultimately doomed Daisy's feelings for Gatsby are mixed with nostalgia, selfinterest, and a fear of losing her social position This portrayal of love shows that it is not always simple or straightforward, but often influenced by external factors and human frailtiesThe Great Gatsby also offers a commentary on the nature of society and class The divide between the rich and the poor is stark, and the characters' actions and decisions are often shaped by their social status Gatsby's attempts to bridge this gap and fit into Daisy's world are met with resistance and ultimately prove futile This highlights the rigidity and injustice of the class system and the difficulties faced by those who try to rise above their stationIn conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a powerful and thoughtprovoking novel that continues to resonate with readers today It offers a poignant critique of the American Dream, a complex exploration of love and humannature, and a vivid portrait of a society in transition Reading this novel has made me reflect on the importance of true values, the illusions of wealth and status, and the power and fragility of love It is a work that will stay with me for a long time, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in literature and the human condition。

1Summer order. He used to be a self disciplined man, but in order to get Daisy, he would nothesitate to walk outside the rules and laws to make himself rich. It seems that Daisy can choose him!Toms arrogance and even the people who attended the party were still full of insults to Gatsby. Daisy chose a rich and powerful man as the marriage object among many suitors . The shock and alienation after hearing Gatsbys moneys coming were the choice of those hateful upper class people for that era -- money and power. At the end of the story, he was misunderstood and shot in his own yard. No one came to see him off. Even Daisy didnt come. In the end, wealth and love are empty dreams. How disappointing!Maybe Gatsby, who has dreams in his heart and has been struggling hard, is amazing! At the end of the novel:So we continue to strive forward, sailing against the current, being pushed back until we return to the past. 2Reading "the Great Gatsby" is a chance. I wanted to spend my time reading it in my spare time. However, my fathers advice at the beginning made me have great interest: when you comment on others, you should remember that not all people have suchexcellent conditions as you. I like watching Gatsby standing at the seaside looking at the green light on Daisys Wharf, watching him "stretch out his arms in a strange way", like that kind of surprise and eagerness; I like the unknown light on Gatsbys mansion all night, following the music and laughter in the wind in the garden, like a dog and a horse, intoxicated. And Gatsbys loneliness and pent up desire behind all this prosperity. I like the feeling of being warm and cold after death. I like watching the car from the other end of the world come to the gate of the mansion, but I didnt find that the wonderful banquet had already ended. I also like the language, metaphor and story telling in the book, as well as the delicate but meticulous structure. only after repeated reading, can you find that each person in the original book is not only full and independent, but also in the invisible, it is gathered in the net of the plot and becomes a part of the plot. When I finished the last page of "the Great Gatsby", I inexplicably recalled reading Gogols "Neva Avenue" one autumn night a year ago. When I saw a pure and weak young mans thrill completely shattered by the realitys absurdity in the charming streetlights and noisy crowd of Neva Avenue, I felt an indescribable emotion that left me nowhere As a recluse, piscaloov came to love with his whole life pursuit at a glance, but the charming girl turned into an unreasonable prostitute, so his pursuit of beauty ironically pushed him to the end of his life. Then, I came to a conclusion in that flustered night: to give up saving people, because there wont be too many people who want to constantly expand their dreams under the blue sky, including love, helpless yearning and trying to change others with ideal nature will always turn pale and absurd.《了不起的盖茨比》英语读后感3The Great Gatsby is the work of Francis Scott Fitzgerald, an American poet and dreamer, published in 1925. This time, it is the work of Li Jihong, a talented translator. In the novel, Gatsby was born in a poor family and fell in love with Daisy when he was young. However, he was unable to marry Daisy because of poverty. He just wanted to see the green light at Daisys Wharf and set his home by the sea.At the beginning of the novel, the author uses a lot of inkto describe Gatsbys scene of entertaining guests and friends in the mansion, as well as his feelings after meeting Daisy again. Gatsbys greatness lies in his wish I want to exchangemy life for Daisys life. Knowing that we cant do it, I applaud Gatsbys courage again!"The Great Gatsby" is such a story of "the grandiose age, the last classical love dream" with tragic color!。

The Great Gatsby, a novel written by F Scott Fitzgerald, has left a profound impression on me This story, set in the Roaring Twenties of the United States, is not only a tale of love and tragedy but also a reflection of the social and moral landscape of that eraThe protagonist, Jay Gatsby, is a mysterious and wealthy figure His unwavering pursuit of Daisy Buchanan, a woman from a wealthy background, forms the core of the plot Gatsby's love for Daisy is so intense and pure that it blinds him to the reality of their differences in social status and values He throws elaborate parties in the hope of attracting her attention, believing that money and material possessions can bridge the gap between them However, this pursuit ultimately leads to his downfallThe character of Gatsby is both tragic and admirable His determination and singlemindedness in the face of love are touching He builds an illusion of a perfect life around Daisy, but this illusion is fragile and easily shattered Despite his efforts to fit into the upper class, he is still an outsider, never truly accepted by those who consider themselves born into privilege This shows the shallowness and hypocrisy of the socalled high societyDaisy, on the other hand, represents the typical woman of the upper class She is beautiful and charming but also selfish and fickle She is unable to make a firm choice between Gatsby and her husband Tom Buchanan, and her indecision ultimately brings disaster to Gatsby Her character reflects the weakness and moral ambiguity of the privileged classThe setting of the novel, the Roaring Twenties, is a time of great change and excess The pursuit of wealth and pleasure seems to be the main goal of people's lives The parties, the cars, and the mansions all symbolize the superficial prosperity of the era But beneath this surface lies a sense of emptiness and moral decay Fitzgerald uses vivid descriptions to bring this era to life, making the reader feel both the allure and the hollowness of itThe theme of the novel is multilayered It is about love and its power to both inspire and destroy It is also about the American Dream and its disillusionment Gatsby's pursuit of Daisy can be seen as a symbol of his pursuit of the American Dream the belief that through hard work and determination, one can achieve success and happiness However, his tragic end shows that this dream is often just an illusion, and that social class and prejudice are insurmountable barriersThe writing style of Fitzgerald is exquisite His prose is both elegant and vivid, capturing the essence of the characters and the atmosphere of the era The use of symbols, such as the green light at the end of Daisy's dock, adds depth and meaning to the story The green light represents Gatsby's hope and longing for Daisy, as well as his unwavering pursuit of his dreamAnother aspect that struck me is the portrayal of human nature in the novel The characters are complex and multifaceted Tom Buchanan, for example, is a selfish and cruel man who cheats on his wife and is indifferent to the suffering of others The narrator, Nick Carraway, is a more objective and observant character, who tries to make sense of the chaos and moral confusion around himIn conclusion, The Great Gatsby is a masterpiece that offers profound insights into love, society, and the human condition It reminds us that behind the glitz and glamour of wealth and success, there may be hidden pain and emptiness It also makes us question the true meaning of the American Dream and the values we hold dear This novel has not only entertained me with its compelling story but also made me think deeply about the nature of human existence and the society we live in It is a book that I will undoubtedly return to in the future, as each reading is likely to bring new understanding and appreciation。

1:After reading the Great GatsbyThe film gives a tentative answer: Jane finally returns to Rochester. In fact, when Jane meets Rochester for the first time, she scares his horse and makes his heel tense, which means that Rochester will be recovered because of Jane. We can think of Rochester's experience as a religious experience, which means that he ignited the fire crazily. After his wife was his early punishment for cynicism, Rochester got the mercy of God and the love of the woman he loved. Here we can say: the perfect combination of human nature and divinity can make such a story meet the requirements of both sides. The price of this film is very good The value may lie in its efforts to explore a new religious belief. The development path of humanism is constantly changing, but our life principles are still firmly adhered to, and the right to independence gives us enough confidence and courage, which is like alighthouse on the ocean of aimless life in the movie world. We have found our own story, which makes us pay so much attention to the protagonists In this era of rapid social and technological changes, which is the complexity of life and psychological displacement, the impact of body and spirit on us need a balance, we are likely to fall into the Sargasso Sea of information overload and unconscious life. Our spirit makes life meaningful - the heart is the engine of the body, the brain is the source of thought, and the great movie is the mirror of life. The novel tells us that the best person to increase the dignity of life is the end of the love novel. This is the life like this. Although I think the ending is too perfect, so perfect and superficial, I still respect the writer's good life The ideal is to increase the dignity of love / in modern society, few people like Jane Eyre, give up everything for the character of love, and do not go back to the pursuit of dedication, and pure as a glass of ice water.

了不起的盖茨比书评英文了不起的盖茨比书评英文篇一《了不起的盖茨比英文书评》The Great GatsbyReading experience:I start to read the book about 3 weeks ago ,At first, I searched some information about the author from the Internet, then glanced the basic content of novel, When I read the several chapters ahead of the novel, I feel it was so boring , the complex relationship would kill me. When I nearly finished the novel, everything was suddenly enlightened.Information about this novel:The novel is told us the story of Gatsby by Nick’s tone. Nick came to New York from his hometown the America Middle West, and he rent a small house nearby Gatsby’s luxurious mansion where hold a grand banquet every night. The story began with the meet between Nick and Gatsby. And Nick hadan exploratory interest to Gatsby and understood that there was a lost love in Gatsby’s deep heart. Gatsby and Daisy loved each other when Gatsby was young, but because of Gatsby’s poor family they were broken up. Then G. joined the First World War. While Daisy was married to Tom who was a rich dandy, but her marriage was not happy because Tom had a mistress. Therefore, the material couldn’t satisfy her spiritual empty.Gatsby was very painful and he believed that Daisy betrayed the pure heart for the money, so he resolved to be a man of wealth and a few years later he managed it. What’s more, in the opposite direction of Daisy’s house Gatsby built a mansion. In order to attract Daisy and aroused the lost love, Gatsby spent money like water.Nick was moved by Gatsby’s passion of love, so he visited to his young female cousin Daisy and told her Gatsby’s mind. Then Gatsby made date with Daisy, often. Finally, Gatsby found Daisy’s vanity, vulgar and selfish. Gatsby’s pink dream finally broke up, but he still insisted it, still retained any illusion about Daisy, and even led to his tragedies. One day Daisy was in a drunken driving Gatsby’s car ran over and caused an accident that killed Tom’s mistress, and she planned a plot with Tom to put the crime to Gatsby. It led to the mistress’husband shot Gatsby. Gatsby died, only his father and Nick attended the funeral.Nick witnessed the virtual mood of human reality. At the end, Nick backed to his hometown with a tragedy mood.Introduction of the author:The Great Gatsby is written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, who was born in1896 and died in Hollywood in 1940, and grew up in St. Paul, Minnesota. He is the most important representative of the “Jazz Age”. He published the novel Tender is the Night, Paradise, the Last Tycoon and so on; and published over 160 short novels, for instance, Benjamin’s FantasyTrip, Ice Palace, Winter Dream and so on. The twentieth century, the United States academic community selected 100 the best novels in the river of English literature. The Great Gatsby and Tender is the Night are the list. And The Great Gatsby is second. He first published The Great Gatsby on April 10, 1925, a story set in Island’s North Shore and New York City during the summer of 1922.Impression on the novel:After reading the novel, I was deeply shocked by Gatsby’s persistence, dream, and his miserable ending, and impressed more about the “Jazz Age”.In American history, maybe“it was the best of times, it was the worst of times, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way”.The Gates ratio is the 20's models American youth,he was young and full of passion to realize all his dreams ,which could have been a perfectcharacter in any times. However, he was poor, and this, which made him become a tragic character, also was the focus in that age-“Jazz Age”. Gates compares in order to pursue the black eyebrow coloring alizarin red to exhaust own sentiment and the ability and wisdom, finally ruined own life. “There was a faint, barely perceptible movement of the water as the fresh flow from one end urged its way toward the drain at the other .With little ripples that was hardly the shadows of waves ,the laden mattress moved irregularly down the pool.” A hopeless ending indicates that the most beautiful dream in that age was eventuallydestroyed by the reality, the social. We can clearly know that Daisy did not choose Gatsby although he had become much more affluent thanTom ,but choose her previous life-living with Tom,it may be a bad choise, but it was really the decision made by Daisy herself,a selfish, disingenuous and vain girl, the girl which Gastby always lovedand was willing to pay everything he has for ,even she betrayed more than once, and this can be inferred when Gastby showed his love and she hesitated.Shutting the book,I am deep in thought. The author tries to describe the social, the so-called up class ,the so-called prosperous country, and certainly the shattered"the Americandream".In my opinion, the author not only wants to attack the luxury and hypocrisy of the classes, but also to appeal to people to pursue true love, not the greed of money andhypocrisy, although this book has a desperate ending.了不起的盖茨比书评英文篇二《了不起的盖茨比英文读后感》The Great GatsbyMengyan Li, September 15, 2013The film The Great Gatsby is on in the cinema these days. I watched the film last week and felt interested in the story. So I decided to read the novel The Great Gatsby. During one week, I just have read the first half of the story. The novel describes the break of American dream of Gatsby who was an upstart by selling wine in the 1920s, which indicates the Americansociety's tragedy. On the surface, The Great Gatsby is a story of the frustrated love between Garsby and a Daisy. But this novel actually wants to criticize the situation of society at that time. The novel is a classic fiction of hope and disillusion. The author describes the leading character Gatsby through Nick’s eyes. Nick Carraway is the novel’s narrator, a young man who was a tolerant,open-minded, quiet, and good listener. And as a result, others tend to talk to him and tell him their secrets. He is the protagonist Gatsby’s neighbor and Daisy’s cousin. The protagonist Gatsby was born into a poor family, but he had the greatambition to achieve the fortune and ideal happiness. All his ambitions and illusions are for his lover, Daisy. And his lover Daisy is the symbol of youth, money and rich, the American dreamwhich is based on the consistent pursuing of wealth. Gatsby paid all his life to pursue the dream though his lover had became the another rich man’s wife. In my eyes, about love, Gatsby is a pitiful guy. Every night he looked the green light across the river, missing his lover. Every Saturday night he hold big parties, invited all the celebrities to his big house, just want to attact Daisy to come. He asked Nick’s for help, just wanted to meet Daisy. His nervousness and before meet Daisy makes me feel he is a young guy who first meet his little girlfriend. Aside all the other things, for love, he is loyal through thick and thin. That’s the point which makes me feel pitiful about Gatsby and the tragedy.

只能说人在社会中是渺小的,渺小到瞳孔再清澈也会被人看做冰穹;
