PART A. Reading Aloud

In this part, you are required to watch a video clip and read after the speaker in the video.

The Songyue Pagoda was built in 523 AD, and it retains the original Indian shape of a stupa. Close by is the Shaolin temple-birthplace of Zen Buddhism and more famously, Kung Fu. On the first day of second grade, my father gave me a map of street names and directions on how to walk to school. But he kissed me goodbye and sent me out of the door. And then I went to school, crying but walking. I don’t know how long it took me to get there or how many fearful and anxious moments. But I do remember forever how I found when I came around the last corner and saw my school. I had made it. I jumped up and down with joy. I wished I could tell my dad right then that I had done it. That night, I waited for him to ask what had happened. He never did. Like usual, we laughed and talked, and went to bed.
