PROJECT INCEPTION
In June 2010, Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) was first mooted by both Sichuan and Singapore leaders at the Singapore-Sichuan Trade and Investment Committee (SSTIC) meeting held in Singapore. A mission trip to Chengdu was then organized by Temasek Holdings from 19 – 20 August 2010 for the Singapore potential investors to study the feasibility of investing in Chengdu. On 15 Sept 2010, Sichuan and Singapore signed a MOU to conduct feasibility study of the joint venture project.

Overall competitiveness ranks 1st in Western China
In the 1st half of 2012, Chengdu ranks first among 15 vice-provincial cities (VPC) in terms of GDP growth, growth on total retail sales, exports growth and total fixed asset investment.
Immediately after the MOU signing, both Singapore and Chengdu parties formed 3 committees namely Business Negotiation, Masterplanning and Industry Planning & Positioning to undertake the feasibility study of the Project.

PLAQUE UNVEILING AND INVESTMENT & COOPERATION AGREEMENT SIGNING
On 15 Sept 2011, Singapore-Sichuan HiTech Innovation Park’s plaque was unveiled by both Minister Lim Swee Say and Sichuan Party Secretary Liu Qibao. On the same day, an investment & cooperation agreement was signed by Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Administrative Committee, Chengdu HiTech Investment Group and SingaporeSichuan Investment Holdings for the development of the Park.
In 2011, tourist arrival was 29 million, ranked 4th in the country and 1st in Western China; cargo turnover was 0.48 million ton, ranked 1st in Western China. Altogether, there’re 95 domestic and 26 direct international air routes. The second runway and second terminal are in operation.
