1.Should College Students Be Allowed to Live off Campus? Some time ago, China’s Ministry of Education banned university students from renting private accommodation. To this people’s attitudes differ sharply. Some hold the positive view. They say that most students prefer to live off campus for the purpose of living with their boyfriends or girl friends, which might severely affect their study. Besides, living on campus can ensure the safety of students and facilitate communication between them. However, many others hold the opposite view. They claim that the living conditions on campus are unbearable. The dormitory is usually crowded and badly equipped. Besides, the university cuts the electricity too early every night. Therefore, many students choose to live off campus in rented houses with the purpose of enjoying a reasonably better living environment and concentrating more on their studies. As far as I am concerned, I tend to believe that universities should be more flexible towards the administration of dorms. The ban should never be acut-off measure and special situations should be considered. Meanwhile, the school should try to upgrade the overall condition of dorms and provide all students with a better service at a low price.(或Personally, I am in favor of the decision of China’s Ministry of Education. Anyway, college students, most aged 18-22, are still too young to control themselves or make proper decisions. Besides, living on campus promotes a sense of belonging by being closely connected with other students. This could truly be a valuable part of the four-year college education.)2. On Lottery GamesThere is no denying the fact that lottery games have become a hotly debated topic in China. Opinions on this issue differ from person to person. Some people believe that lottery games are beneficial in many ways. For one thing, they help collect money for the poor, the disabled and the cause of sports. For another, lottery games provide people with a means of entertainment or pastime. Many others, however, hold the opposite view. They claim that lottery games are, in fact, a kind of gambling. People are tempted to earn money through their luckinstead of down-to-earth labor. They also aruge that the ticket buyers attach more importance to the prizes than to the support of the disabled or the cause of sports. As far as I am concerned, weighing the arguments of both sides, I believe that it is OK to buy lottery tickets. Anyway, it has been existence for many years and proved to be more beneficial than harmful. Actually, we don’t have to worry too much because facts have shown that most people can treat lottery games with a peaceful and normal mind.(Personally, I think that both sides have something right. Actually, lottery games should be viewed as a two-edged sword, which presents us with both benefits and troubles. But we should not give up eating for fear of choking. The best policy, as I see it, is to maximize their advantages and minimize their unhealthy influence, so that they can benefit us in a better way.)3. TV Talent Show --- A Good Thing or Bad?An army of people today are fond of the TV talent show. They support it and see themselves as fans of one or another show star. They believe that the TV talent show can change one’s fortune. At least, they argue that, the show offers the opportunity to show and develop one’s talents. On the contrary, a number of people hold the negative attitude to TV talent shows. They maintain that the TV talent show today is like a river that has risen to its flood level. It misleads the youth and makes them believe that they can make a fortune or become famous overnight. As a result, a lot of students can’t calm down to study on the show’s season. Some of them take interest in imitating their idol, so much so that they can hardly recognize themselves. For my part, the TV talent show is like a double-edged sword, which can do both good and harm. Therefore, it is extremely important for us to face it properly. For one thing, the TV studios are supposed to create more positive and favorable shows. For another, the media ought to guide people, especially the young, to right way and refrain from exaggerating the effect of the show.4. College Students’Job HuntingThere is no denying the fact that job hunting is a grave problem with which college graduates areconfronted. Reports are often heard upon the number of students who fail to find a job on graduation. Actually, the problem has become so widespread that it has severely affected the graduates’ life and hindered the development of economy.A number of factors account for the problem, but the following are the most critical ones. Firstly, in recent years, colleges and universities have enrolled so many students that the number of graduates are far greater than the need in the market. Secondly, many graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable jobs to do than go to small towns or the country. Last but not least, the ongoing financial crisis and economic depression aggravate the difficulty in job-seeking.In view of the seriousness of the problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. For one thing, it is essential that the government create more job opportunities by all means. For another, graduates should change their attitude towards employment and go to work in small cities and the country. With these measures taken, we have reasons to believe that the problem can be solved in the near future.5. Food SafetyThere is no denying the fact that food safety is a grave problem with which we are confronted. Reports are often heard upon food products of bad quality. The most notable instance might be the notorious San Lu milk powder scandal which has drawn considerable publicity in the past months. Actually, the problem has become so widespread that it has severely affected people’s life and hindered the development of economy.Fake and shoddy food products are bound to generate severe consequences if we keep turning a blind eye to them. First and foremost, they directly infringe upon consumers’rights, wasting their money and threatening their health and even lives. Besides, the production and sale of such food cause serious losses on the part of honest and lawful producers. Last but not least, the destruction of the food means a grievous waste of the nation’s resources. In view of the seriousness of the problem, effective measures must be taken before things get worse. First, it is high time that pertinent laws and regulations were worked out and rigidly enforced to crack down on anyproduction and circulation of substandard food products. Meanwhile, inactive and incompetent civil servants should be immediately purged from the team of food safety supervision and administration. Only with these measures taken can we expect a bright future of this nation.(10)Effects of Financial Crisis on College Students审题概述:这是一篇主要论述金融危机与大学生关系的文章。

Although it is efficient, its side effects are also enormous. On the one hand, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. Nosubjectsjcan.be taught successfullywith jjntenttojtake.examinations. In some universities students rating has even become the only source of information on teaching effectiveness..This, however, has caused great controversy. Some are in favor of the rating system, They hold that since students attend the teachers classes every day, they should have their opinion about their teachers effectiveness. Others, on the contrary, are strongly against it. They believe that there is much more to teaching than what is shown on students rating forms. Students should not be expected to judge whether the materials they use are up to date or how well the teacher knows about the subject. These judgments require professional knowledge, which is best left for the teachers colleagues.I think students rating of their teachers is necessary, but it should be conducted in a way that can really shed meaningful light on teachers performance. Instead of rating the teachers knowledge on the subject, students should be asked to estimate what they have learned in a course, and to report on such things as a teachers ability to communicate with students, his or her relationship with students, and his or her ability to arouse students interest in the subject.大学英语四级写作模拟练习二:1. 宿舍生活有时会出现不和谐的情况;2. 一个和谐宿舍生活的必要性;3. 如何创造和谐的宿舍生活。

You should write at least 120 words but no more than 180 words.答案:Writing1、[范文]Urban DevelopmentThe reform and opening-up policy has witnessed the increasing of urbanization rate. Along with the fast pace of urbanization comes not only the rich material life and convenient transportation, but also various environmental and social problems. The most annoying problem of urban development is the increasingly heavy traffic jam. With the rapid increase in the quantity of vehicles, it takes us more time to go to work. Urban air pollution, which is caused by the ever-increasing motor vehicle emissions, is another potential threat to the health of city dwellers. Although various measures have been taken to improve air quality, it is still not satisfying enough. Other problems, such as solid waste pollution, water resources scarcity, food security, are also the results of urban development. In order to solve the problems in urban development, it is imperative to coordinate the relationship between urbanization and industrialization and to promote the construction of smart cities. And new methods and ideas should be introduced to city administrators and planners to solve the contradiction between the improvement of people's living standard and the healthy development of urbanization.2、[范文]Will E-books Replace Paper Books?Though e-books have many advantages, such as space saving, environmental protection and low cost, I strongly believe that they will never replace paper books.First of all, people comprehend better when reading paper hooks. A study showed that people who read on papers in the exam score higher than those who read electronic materials. What's more, despite the fact that the adjustable font size and backlighting will help reading, reading electronic materials will do a lot of harm to the eyes if no adequate precautions are taken. We are already exposed to too much electronic screens, and reading e-books will make it worse. Last but not least, when reading a paper book, we enjoy the peaceful state of mind, and can flip pages backward or forward to really enjoy the pleasure of reading, which is difficult to achieve whenreading e-books.E-books will be more and more popular due to the advance of technology. However, paper books are already a part of our life. No matter which one you choose, the only thing that matters is that you are reading.F-3、[范文]How to Inherit Traditional CultureIt's a popular trend nowadays that more and more people are celebrating foreign festivals, ignoring traditional ones, like the Dragon Boat Festival and Double Ninth Festival. However, traditional culture is the treasure of Chinese national culture and also an important component of Chinese advanced culture. Therefore, we should try our best to inherit and carry forward Chinese traditional culture. To begin with, the government should shoulder the responsibility to urge schools to carry out traditional culture education. Besides, it is an effective way for the young generation to inherit traditional culture through textbooks. Therefore, apart from introducing traditional festivals and customs in textbooks, it is advisable to introduce traditional philosophy and classics in the textbooks based on the psychological characteristics of primary and middle school students. Lastly, cultural innovation is also essential to inherit traditional culture. Only by combining cultural inheritance and cultural innovation can we promote cultural development positively. To improve our international competitive capability, every one of us should inherit the traditional culture creatively and absorb the essence of foreign cultures to maintain the exuberant vitality of our traditional culture.4、[范文]The Advantages and Disadvantages of New Energy VehiclesAs many foreign countries announced schedules to ban conventional fueled vehicles, new energy vehicles spark a hot discussion in Chinese automobile market. Some refuses new energy vehicles due to the low battery durability and reliability and high price, but much more people applaud for it.Admittedly, new energy vehicles are still at the initial stage in which various problems need to be solved. For example, due to the limited charging stations and battery durability, it is impossible to travel a long way by new energy vehicles. High cost is another important factor that barricades their popularity. Nevertheless, new energy vehicles are ideal in addressing energy security and urban air pollution concerns. With no emissions generated and low energy consumption, new energy vehicles are environmentally friendly and cost less compared with conventional fueled ones. From what we have discussed above, it is an inevitable trend for the new energy vehicles to dominate our life because of their various advantages. The government should launch preferential policies and encourage technological revolution to promote the development of new energy vehicles and related industries.5、[范文]Innovation AbilityAs George Bernard Shaw said, "Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their mind, cannot change anything." It cannot be denied that change, especially innovation, is the only way for human to advance. Without the power of innovation, the world will fall into an irrevocable dilemma.Innovation brings chances and changes, which will not only stabilize our nation but also enhance the overall national competitive power. Due to an innovative policy, the reform and opening-up policy, China has undergone remarkable changes over the past three decades, and people's living standard has gone up dramatically. What's more, innovation has been recognized as the sure path to success for any company. Encouraging employees to free their minds and giving them time to think of innovative ideas are effective to increase productivity. As for individuals, cultivating innovative ability is of vital importance for one's professional development. To encourage innovation, investment in research should be increased to encourage scholars to take up the challenges. And corresponding curriculum should be made to stimulate students' interest in solving problems and to foster their innovation ability from the very beginning.。

英语四级写作模拟练习及参考范文英语四级写作模拟练习一:1. 有人认为帮助陌生人是一种美德;2. 有人却认为帮助陌生人会给自己带来麻烦和危险;3. 我认为……【范文】Helping strangers has always been considered as a treasured virtue of mankind. We need help from others throughout our life, whenever we travel to other places or stay at home. On the other hand, helping others can make us happy. We feel great joy when we are trusted, needed and able to give a hand. However, some people are cautious when it comes to helping strangers. They say that helping others involves risks of getting hurt or cheated. Lending a hand to a stranger often puts us in a vulnerable position for it means trusting someone we do not even know. Moreover, there are times when we have physical limitations. For instance, we cant swim but a girl is drowning, what should we do? If we are blind to that limitation, giving a hand would conversely take our life.In my opinion, we should still offer what we can do to help those needed strangers. Meanwhile, we should beware of getting cheated and use our common sense to tell whether the strangers are real needed people or just professional cheats. Detecting anything unusual, we should defend ourselves or turn to the police.英语四级写作模拟练习二:1. 现在许多人越来越依赖电脑;2. 过分依赖电脑会带来很多问题;3. 我的看法【范文1】Do we rely too much on computers? Yes, we do. Almost everything we do and every aspect of our life is affected by modern technology with computers above all. We use computers in business, public services, education and entertainment. However, over-reliance on computer may give rise to some problems. One is that people are more likely to make spelling mistakes when they have to handwrite something. Another is that people are so dependent on computers that they have lost the ability to think for themselves. If “the computer says XYZ”, then XYZ must be true. If you want to make yourself an idiot, just tell him “that is what the computer said”.In my opinion, computers make our lives easier but we should never rely on them completely. These machines should be used as tool to aid work rather than the only tool. Otherwise, chaos can occur when suddenly our computers crash or what is worse, refuse to take our orders.【范文2】With the development of science and technology, computers have played an increasingly important role in our daily life. Computers make our life more convenient. We can not only finish our essays online, but also buy some daily commodities and play games online. However, its estimated that people spend more than three hours on surfing the internet. Now more and more people become weak and shortsighted. It is because they surf the Internet day and night but without rest. In addition, the reason why students rely on too much on computers is that they can find many reference materials online. So students become less independent in thinking for themselves now.All in all, we cant live without computer, but we should try to go out to do some exercise with our friends. Whats more, it is time for us to finish our assignments independently instead of finding the reference answer online.。

大学英语四级考试模拟试题作文范文

大学英语四级考试模拟试题作文范文1 A Letter to a Student I helpedDear Zhang Hua,I am so excited to receive your letter telling me that you have passed the college entrance examination and will soon go to a local university. All your efforts and hard-work are eventually paid back. Congratulations.I do hope you will study hard in the future because knowledge and skills are of great significance in today’s world. For one thing, the world is developing so fast, we can only keep up with its pace by acquiring more knowledge to broaden our horizons. For another, the development of our country is in great need for people with knowledge and skills. Besides, only those with specialized skills are able to win in the competitive job market.Once you are armed with knowledge and skills, you are sure to realize your dreams. I would like to suggest that you try all means to acquire knowledge and skills in college and put them into practice.Sincerely yours,Wang Peng2.How Should We Spend Our College TimeHow should college students spend their time? Opinions vary from person to person. Some are willing to devote time and energy to extracurricular activities. They argue that taking part in some school activities can help them broaden their horizons and develop skills of cooperation and communication, which will benefit their future career. Besides, they believe that “all work and no play make Jack a dull boy”, so it is necessary to participate in some school activities to recharge their batteries.Others, however, prefer spending their time in studying. In theirviews, the competition of modern society is becoming increasingly intense. They must study hard to acquire as much academic knowledge as possible, and those who have extensive knowledge will have a brighter future. As everything has its strength and weakness, spending college life is no exception. I hold the view that these two ideas are both correct. Surely, students should study hard, but school activities are also very important. Therefore, I suggest that college students learn how to arrange college time. On one hand, they should study hard; on the other hand, they should spare(抽出) some time to participate in school activities.3. How to Get Along with RoommatesLast Sunday, two of my roommates got into a serious fight because of a trifle. Now they are still very angry with each other and no one wants to apologize first. The story is not rare. Nowadays, many college students are not able to get along with their roommates, which does considerable harm to both their college lives and their future development. On one hand, quarreling and fighting ruin the friendly atmosphere, making dorms unpleasant places to stay in; on the other hand, if a person is not able to establish good relationships with his roommates, it is hard for him to develop other interpersonal relationships which are important for his future development. Therefore, I advise those students to take it seriously. And the following are some of mysuggestions. First, respect your roommates, thus you can also win respect from them. Second, if your roommates encounter difficulties, try to help them out, so that they will appreciate your help. Finally, don not talk about other’s affairs behind their backs. These are certainly not the only points you should pay attention to. But I am sure if you arewilling to follow them, you will get along well with your roommates.4. A Memorable TripLast summer vacation, my friends and I went to Huangshan for a tour. It’s a trip full of surprises to every one of us.The 21 hours of train traveling was tiring; however, we all became excited at the announcement of the arrival of Huangshan station. We decided to climb Huangshan the next day, because we were warned it would be very energy-consuming. The first part of the climbing was boring, with stairs after stairs ahead. Hardly had we arrived at the first resting spot when it started to pour, and our hearts sank. Surprisingly, half an hour later, the sun emerged from the clouds. As the sky turned bright blue, we were amazed at the spectacular view of the mountain range, sea of clouds, and pine trees in the fog. All exhaustion vanished all of a sudden(忽然地), and we were jumping and cheering. For the rest of the trip, we were deeply impressed by more fantastic rocks and fancy pine trees.I started to understand better the saying that life is full of things beyond any expectation, just like the trip we had at Huangshan. Splendid views were waiting for us after our great efforts.5. Competition or CooperationRecently a debate has been arising upon competition or cooperation, which should be stressed in college students’ education. Opinions vary greatly. Some people claim that college students should learn how to compete. From their point of view, competition exists everywhere in our modern society and people can hardly avoid it. Thus a course of competition is needed to help college students build up enough courage to face up to all difficulties they may encounter in the workplace or in their personal lives. However, others believe it is more useful to learn how to cooperate.Their opinion is that nowadays it is hard for a person to succeed if he lacks team spirit or does not know how to cooperate with others. For example, if a man wants to win a football game, he has to cooperate with his playmates. He can’t win by himself. So learning how to cooperate with others should be stressed .As for myself, I believe that both competition and cooperation are indispensable(二者缺一别可) for leading a normal social life. Because in most circumstances, we can see competition goes hand in hand with cooperation. Therefore, both essential skills should be put forward to educate college students.6. Seeking HelpConfronted with difficulties, we will naturally seek help from people around us. We will turn to our parents when we need their help to support our schooling and daily necessities. We will seek help from our teachers for learning problems, and discussing all sorts of questions and doubts. Certainly, we will ask our friends for help, sharing bitter as well as happy experience.Recently, I learn from others that one of my classmates is in trouble, since his family is in poverty and can hardly support him to finish college.I suggest that he reports his situation to the school, especially the finance aiding office. The school must have relevant policy to help students with financial problems. Secondly, he should let the teacher in charge of his class know about his situation so that both teachers and students around him can offer a hand in some ways. Of course, he can also become more independent to aid himself by taking a part-time job at leisure time.7. How Should We Treat Wild Animals? As is known in the table, the period of 1980-2004 witnessed great changes in the population of both chirus(藏羚,长角羚) and pet dogs in abig city in China. While the number of pet dogs remarkably speeded up by 50 times under the care of human beings, the number of chirus sharply decreased from 1 million to 100 thousand just d ue to man’s greedy hunting for money. What is revealed in the table shocks me greatly because I think we human beings are placing ourselves into a dangerous situation by this behavior. As is known to many people, to sustain the development of humankind, we must maintain the balance of ecological system to which every species makes its own contribution. The excessive killing of(过度捕猎) some species will undoubtedly destroy the ecological balance in the long run and thus endanger the existence of human beings ourselves. Therefore, I suggest that every individual devote efforts to keep the diversity of animals and that we protect wild animals in the way we take care of our pet dogs. Otherwise, man will not only destroy nature, but also end his own life.8. Rent Off CampusRecently, a piece of news caught my sight reporting that some universities forbad undergraduate students to rent off campus. The news arouses arguments among my friends who present varied opinions. Some who are for the regulation claims that undergraduate students should live on campus where they can concentrate on their study and college life. While, those who are against the regulation hold that the university has no right to forbid the students to rent off campus .When they do so, students can live independently and enjoy more freedom.Personally, I don’t think it advisable for the university to set such a regulation; however, I do believe undergraduate students can benefit from renting on campus. First of all, no one can deny that it is far cheaper and convenient to live on campus. In addition, students won’t be distracted by lots of housework.. What’s more, there are a variety ofactivities at evenings on campus, through which students can show their talents or exchange ideas or view with their teachers. In short, renting on campus has more advantages over renting off campus.。

英语四级写作模拟练习题题目要求:Enhance Awareness to Guard against Campus Thefts1.校园盗窃案件时有发生2.物品被盗的原因3.学生如何加强防盗意识参考范文:Enhance Awareness to Guard against Campus Thefts"If you dont want to wake up and find you have no pants to wear, youd better put them on in sleep," goes a popular joke among students. Obviously, campus thefts have become increasingly annoying as they occur far more often than before. And it seems that the thieves are less choosy these days, with their targets ranging widely from bikes, cell phones, purses, pre-paid IC cards to sunglasses, bags, and even underwear. In short, anything that worth a dime is likely to be stolen. What makes students the easy targets? The reasons are not hard to find. But I believe of all these reasons, the lack of anti-theft alertness is the most important. For lack of alertness, the students tend to leave the doors and windows wide open during sleep at noon or at night in summer. For the same reason, theyll also leave their bikes unlocked before a storeor by a road, or forget to take away their personal stuff before they go out of the classroom to make a phone call. These acts undoubtedly have increased their exposure to the light-fingered monsters. In order to minimize possible losses, the students must stay on guard in the first place, as awareness of the thefts around often makes a big difference. To be more specific, the students should not hide any tempting amount of cash in the dorm. Put it in the bank instead. Besides, do not leave any valuable items unattended. Take them wherever you go. In addition, its advisable to develop a neighbourhood watch programme with other students in the dorm and neighbouring dorms.题目要求:Its Time to Stop Software Piracy1. 盗版软件比比皆是2. 盗版软件猖獗的原因3. 如何打击盗版软件参考范文:Its Time to Stop Software PiracyChina has often been criticized for the rampant practice of software piracy. Take a look around. We operate on pirated Windows systems, defend PC security with pirated Kaspersky anti-virus programmes, process files with pirated Microsoft Office, draft 3D designs with pirated AutoCAD, refine pictures with pirated Adobe Photoshop, and study English with pirated Kingsofts electronic dictionaries and translators. Its no exaggeration that pirated software is everywhere. The logic behind the phenomenon is simple and clear: if a pirated copy is available for just a tiny fraction of the normal price, not to speak of many of the free downloads online, who would pay for an authentic copy? Cheaper prices aside, easy access is another important factor. With such a large gathering of pirated upgrades around, who would bother to spend time and money searching the stores for an authorized yet outdated version?Despite these apparent benefits, the practice of software piracy should be banned, because it represents unfair competition and by nature its a no-win situation. But how? Two approaches are to be taken at the same time: Technically, software developers should enhance their antipiracy engineering, so that cracking the software should be virtually impossible. And legally, the government should also tighten its antipiracy laws and toughen up the penalties, so that violations should be costly.。

In China, the focus of English education tends to be on grammar rules, vocabulary memorization, and test preparation. Students spend a lot of time learning the language in a classroom setting, which can be effective for improving their reading and writing skills. However, they often lack the opportunity to practice speaking and listening in real-life situations. On the other hand, studying English in an English-speaking country provides students with immersion in the language and culture. They have the chance to interact with native speakers on a daily basis, which helps them improve their speaking and listening skills dramatically. They also have access to authentic materials such as newspapers, magazines, and movies, which can enhance their reading and listening abilities.Personally, I believe that studying English in anEnglish-speaking country is more effective in terms of language acquisition. However, studying English in China can also be beneficial if students make an effort to practice speaking and listening outside of the classroom.Part II:The Importance of Reading in English LearningReading plays a crucial role in English learning as it helps students improve their vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension skills. By reading extensively, students are exposed to a wide range of words and sentence structures, which can help them express themselves more clearly and fluently. Additionally, reading provides insight into the culture and customs of English-speaking countries, which is essential for effective communication. To utilize reading to improve their English proficiency, students should read a variety of materials such as newspapers, novels, and academic articles. They should also make a habit of looking up unfamiliar words and phrases to expand their vocabulary. Furthermore, students can practice reading aloud to improve their pronunciation and intonation. In my opinion, reading is a vital component of English learning that should not be overlooked. It not only enhances language skills but also broadens the mind and enriches one's understanding of the world.Overall, by recognizing the differences between studying English in China and studying English in an English-speaking country, as well as the importance of reading in English learning, students can effectively improve their English proficiency and communication skills.。

And in the Western countries, there is nothing that can’t be bought by money. Many people lose their own lives when hunting it.I think that money is essential to life and we cannot do without money. But e ven though money is necessary to life, it can’t buy happiness. Happiness is not something that can be measured bymoney. It is a state of mind. One can have plenty of money, with whichhe can buy whatever he wants, and at the same time he is not happy because heis never satisfied or he is troubled byvarious kinds of problems. Therefore, although money is necessary for a happy life, it can’t buy happiness.大学英语六级作文模拟练习二:1. 近年来,推迟退休年龄引发人们热议2. 推迟退休年龄有利也有弊3. 我的看法参考范文:Based on a recent survey on the Internet, a majority of individuals admit that aging society will bring a variety of problems to their life. Along with the trend of longevity, it has become atrend for people to debate whether it is wise to postpone retirement age. Some people favor postponing the retirement age. In their eyes, it is this policy that enables the aging society to build up enough work-force. As a matter of fact, people in mounting numbershave come to realize this problem in an aging society. Even so, others hold a different view that postponing retirement age carries some risks. This policy can bring old people stress, butcannot arouse their enthusiasm for work, and cannot help them to enjoy their retirement pension.I am convinced that we should balance old people’ interest and this aging society. Thus, if those seniors have enthusiasm for work, we should educate, advocate and encourage them to work andperform their tasks. If we try our utmost to do so, the future of old people’ life will be promising, hopeful and rosy.感谢您的阅读,祝您生活愉快。

Some people, especially the younger generation, challenge the value of conventional libraries. When they need any information in their studies or work, they can turn to their computers for help. For this reason, they do not need to go to a library for borrowing or returning one or two books. While others, including most old people as well as scholars, value libraries. They love libraries because they can enjoy peace and quietness in an isolated spiritual world. And they also have access to rare academic works needed for their studies in the libraries. In my view, conventional libraries are still available though there is still much room for improving. At the Age of Information, as long as knowledge is respected and cherished, libraries wont extinct from our lives. On the other hand, libraries should not refuse the latest information technology, which will enable them to regain those young readers。

范文1Should the University Campus Be Open to Tourists?Nowadays some famous university campuses have become new popular visiting spots. More and more people come to visit them. However, people have very different views as to whether the university campuses should be open to tourists. Some think that the university campuses should be open to tourists for it can help people to have a chance to feel the cultural atmosphere on the campuses. It is of importance for those who are dreaming to study there but still have no chance to do so. On the other hand, others feel that tourism will spoil the quietness of the campuses and consequently the students cannot concentrate their attention on study. In my opinion, famous university campuses should be open to tourists because we all know universities should be open places and be able to accept those who are willing to feel the atmosphere there. However, in order to keep the universities running smoothly as before, there must be some rules to guide the tourists.范文2Nowadays, many famous university campuses have become one of the popular tourist attractions. It has been shown on TV and on the radio that every year thousands and thousands of middle school students visit Tsinghua University and Peking University and other famous universities in china. In the place far away from the capital city, the local students also visit the universities famous in their own province. So far as the present situation is concerned, is it a good or bad thing to open the university campus for tourists? Different people have different opinions. On one hand, some people argued that it is a good thing for the students to visit the famous university campus in that it can enable the middle students to get more information about the university and they can have enough time and opportunity to prepare themselves with the chance to get into the university. On the other hand, some people hold a negative view about this phenomenon. In their opinion, the public tourism will have negative effect on the universities because it will not only do harm to the environment but also to the intellectual atmosphere. In my opinion, the tourism to the universities is not a good thing. The campus is mainly a place for study. With the increasing tourism on the campus, it will ruin the spiritual atmosphere in this learning field.。

Our dreams combine verbal, visual and emotional stimuli into a sometimes broken, nonsensical but often entertainingstory line. We can sometimes even solve problems in our sleep. Or can we? Many experts disagree on exactly what the purpose of our dreams might be. Are they strictly random brain impulses, or are our brains actually working through issues from our daily life while we sleep -- as a sortof coping mechanism? Should we even bother to interpret our dreams? Many say yes, that we have a great deal to learn from our dreams. Why do we Dream? For centuries, we've tried to figure out just why our brains play these nightly shows for us. Early civilizations thought dream worlds were real, physical worlds that they could enter only from their dream state. Researchers continue to toss around many theories about dreaming. Those theories essentially fall into two categories:● The idea that dreams a re only physiological stimulations● The idea that dreams are psychologically necessaryPhysiological theories are based on the idea that we dream in order to exercise various neural connections that some researchers believe affect certain types of learning. Psychological theories are based onthe idea that dreaming allows us to sort through problems, events of the day or things that are requiring a lot of our attention. Some of these theorists think dreams might be prophetic. Many researchers andscientists also believe that perhaps it is a combination of the two theories.Dreaming and the BrainWhen we sleep, we go through five sleep stages. The first stage isa very light sleep from which it is easy to wake up. The second stage moves into a slightly deeper sleep, and stages three and four represent our deepest sleep. Our brain activity throughout these stages is gradually slowing down so that by deep sleep, we experience nothing but delta brain waves -- the slowest brain waves. About 90 minutes after we go to sleep and after the fourth sleep stage, we begin REM sleep.Rapid eye movement (REM) was discovered in 1953 by University of Chicago researchers Eugene Aserinsky, a graduate student in physiology, and Nathaniel Kleitman, Ph.D., chair of physiology. REM sleep isprimarily characterized by movements of the eyes and is the fifth stage of sleep. How to Improve Your Dream RecallIt is said that five minutes after the end of a dream, we have forgotten 50 percent of the dream's content. Ten minutes later, we've forgotten 90 percent of its content. Why is that? We don't forget our daily actions that quickly. The fact that they are so hard to remember makes their importance seem less. There are many resources both on the Web and in print that willgive you tips on how to improve your recall of dreams. Those who believe we have a lot to learn about ourselves from our dreams are big proponents of dream journals. Here are some steps you can take to increase your dream recall:● When you go to bed, t ell yourself you will remember your dreams.● Set your alarm to go off every hour and half so you'll wake up around the times that you leave REM sleep -- when you're most likely to remember your dreams. (Or, drink a lot of water before you go to bed to ensure you have to wake up at least once in the middle of the night!)● Keep a pad and pencil next to your bed.● Try to wake up slowly to remain within the "mood" of your last dream. Common Dream Themes and Their Interpretations● Being naked in publ icMost of us have had the dream at some point that we're at school, work or some social event, and we suddenly realize we forgot to put on clothes! Experts say this means: ◆ We're trying to hide something (and without clothes we have a hard time doing that).◆ We're not prepared for something, like a presentation or test (and now everyone is going to know -- we're exposed!).If we're naked but no one notices, then the interpretation is that whatever we're afraid of is unfounded. If we don't care that we're naked, the interpretation is that we're comfortable with who we are.● FallingYou're falling, falling, falling... and then you wake up. This is a very common dream and is said to symbolize insecurities and anxiety. Something in your life is essentially out of control and there isnothing you can do to stop it. Another interpretation is that you have a sense of failure about something. Maybe you're not doing well in schoolor at work and are afraid you're going to be fired or expelled. Again, you feel that you can't control the situation.● Being chasedThe ever-popular chase dream can be extremely frightening. What it usually symbolizes is that you're running away from your problems. What that problem is depends on who is chasing you. It may be a problem at work, or it may be something about yourself that you know is destructive. For example, you may be drinking too much, and your dream may be telling you that your drinking is becoming a real problem.● Taking an exam (or forgetting that you have one)This is another very common dream. You suddenly realize you are supposed to be taking an exam at that very moment. You might be running through the hallways and can't find the classroom. This type of dreamcan have several variations that have similar meanings. (Maybe your pen won't write, so you can't finish writing your answers.) What experts say this may mean is that you're being scrutinized about something or feel you're being tested -- maybe you're facing a challenge you don't think you're up to. You don't feel prepared or able to hold up to the scrutiny. It may also mean there is something you've neglected that you know needs your attention.● FlyingMany flying dreams are the result of lucid dreaming (清醒梦). Notall flying dreams are, however. Typically, dreaming that you are flying means you are on top of things. You are in control of the things thatmatter to you. Or, maybe you've just gained a new perspective on things. It may also mean you are strong willed and feel like no one and nothing can defeat you. If you are having problems maintaining your flight, someone or something may be standing in the way of you having control. If you are afraid while flying, you may have challenges that you don't feel up to.● Running, but going now hereThis theme can also be part of the chasing dream. You're trying to run, but either your legs won't move or you simply aren't going anywhere -- as if you were on a treadmill (踏车). According to some, this dream means you have too much on your plate. You're trying to do too many things at once and can't catch up or ever get ahead.1. This passage mainly discusses different theories about why we have dreams at night.2. Early theories held that dreams were reflection of people’s real, physical worlds.3. According to physiological theories, dreaming allows us to sort through problems or events of the day that require our attention.4. REM occurs at the third and fourth stage during which we experience the deepest sleep.5. The reason why dreams do not seem important is that they are very difficult to remember.6. Trying to get recorded what you said or did in your dream can help increase your dream recall.7. If a person dreams he is naked but is not noticed by others, it means what he is afraid of is groundless.1.[Y][N][NG]2.[Y][N][NG]3.[Y][N][NG]4.[Y][N][NG]5.[Y][N][NG]6.[Y][N][NG]7.[Y][N][NG]8. Each passage is followed by some questions or unfinished statements. For each of them there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D). You should decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with a single line through the centre.Passage OneQuestions 57 to 61 are based on the following passage. Most of the people who appear most often and most gloriously in the history books are great conquerors and generals and soldiers, whereas the people who really helped civilization forward are often never mentioned at all. We do not know who first set a broken leg, or launched a seaworthy boat, or calculated the length of the year, or manured(施肥)a field; but we know all about the killers and destroyers. People think a great deal of them, so much so that on all the highest pillarsin the great cities of the world you will find the figure of a conqueror or a general or a soldier. And I think most people believe that the greatest countries are those that have beaten in battle the greatestnumber of other countries and ruled over them as conquerors. It is just possible they are, but they are not the most civilized.Animals fight; so do savages (野蛮人); hence to be good at fighting is to be good in the way in which an animal or a savage is good, but it is not to be civilized. Even being good at getting other people to fight for you and telling them how to do it most efficiently --- this, after all, is what conquerors and generals have done --- is not being civilized. People fight to settle quarrels. Fighting means killing, and civilized peoples ought to be able to find some way of settling their disputes other than by seeing which side can kill off the greater number of the other side, and then saying that that side which has killed most has won. And it not only has won, but, because it has won, has been in the right. For that is what going to war means; it means saying that might is right. That is what the story of mankind has on the whole been like. Even our own age has fought the two greatest wars in history, in which millions of people were killed or disabled. And while today it is true that people do not fight and kill each other in the streets --- while, that is to say, we have got to the stage of keeping the rules and behaving properly to each other in daily life --- nations and countries have not learnt to do this yet, and still behave like savages.57. In the opening sentence the author indicates that ________.A) most history books were written by conquerors, generals and soldiers.B) those who truly helped civilization forward is rarely mentioned in history books.C) history books focus more on conquerors than on those who helped civilization forward.D) conquerors, generals and soldiers should not be mentioned in history books.58. In the author’s opinion, the countries that rul ed over a large number of other countries are ________.A) certainly both the greatest and the most civilizedB) neither the most influential nor the most civilized.C) possibly the most civilized but not the most powerful.D) likely the greatest in some sense but not the most civilized.59. The meaning of “That is what going to war means; it means saying that might is right.”(Last sentence of Paragraph 2) is that________.A) those who fight believe that the winner is right and the loser wrong.B) only those who are powerful have the right to go to war.C) those who are right should fight against those who are wrong.D) in a war only those who are powerful will win.60. In the third paragraph, what the author wants to convey to us is that ________.A) World War I and World War II are different from previous wars.B) our age is not much better than those of the past.C) modern time is not so civilized compared with the past.D) we have fought fewer wars but suffered heavier casualties.61. This passage is most likely taken from an article entitled________.A) War and World PeaceB) Creators of CivilizationC) Civilization and HistoryD) Who Should Be RememberedPassage TwoQuestions 62 to 66 are based on the following passage. The motor vehicle has killed and disabled more people in its brief history than any bomb or weapon ever invented. Much of the blood on the street flows essentially from uncivil behavior of drivers who refuse to respect the legal and moral rights of others. So the massacre on the road may be regarded as a social problem. In fact, the enemies of society on wheels are rather harmlesspeople or ordinary people acting carelessly, you might say. But it is a principle both of law and common morality that carelessness is no excuse when one's actions could bring death or damage to others.A minority of the killers go even beyond carelessness to total negligence. Researchers have estimated that as many as 80 per cent ofall automobile accidents can be attributed to the psychologicalcondition of the driver. Emotional upsets can distort drivers' reactions, slow their judgment, and blind them to dangers that might otherwise be evident. The experts warn that it is vital for every driver to make a conscious effort to keep one's emotions under control.Yet the irresponsibility that accounts for much of the problem is not confined to drivers. Street walkers regularly violate traffic regulations; they are at fault in most vehicle walker accidents. And many cyclists even believe that they are not subject to the basic rules of the road.Significant legal advances have been made towards safer driving in the past few years. Safety standards for vehicle have been raised bothat the point of manufacture and through periodic road-worthiness inspections. In addition, speed limits have been lowered. Due to these measures, the accident rate has decreased. But the accident expertsstill worry because there has been little or no improvement in the way drivers behave. The only real and lasting solution, say the experts, is to convince people that driving is a skilled task requiring constantcare and concentration. Those who fail to do all these things pose a threat to those with whom they share the road.62. The word “massacre” in line 3 paragraph one means _____A) mass-killing. B) disaster. C) tragedy. D) accident.63. What is the author's main purpose in writing the passage?A) To show that the motor vehicle is a very dangerous invention.B) To promote understanding between careless drivers and street walkers.C) To discuss traffic problems and propose possible solutions.D) To warn drivers of the importance of safe driving.64. According to the passage, traffic accidents may be regarded asa social problem because _____.A) autos have become most destructive to mankindB) people usually pay little attention to law and moralityC) civilization brings much harm to peopleD) the lack of virtue is becoming more severe65. Why does the author mention the psychological condition of the driver in Paragraph Three?A) To give an example of the various reasons for road accidents.B) To show how important it is for drivers to be emotionally healthy.C) To show some of the inaccurate estimations by researchers.D) To illustrate the hidden tensions in the course of driving.66. Who are NOT mentioned as being responsible for the road accidents?A) Careless bicycle-riders.B) Mindless people walking in the street.C) Irresponsible drivers.D) Irresponsible manufactures of automobiles.Part V Cloze(15 minutes)Directions: There are 20 blanks in the following passage. For each blank there are four choices marked A), B), C) and D) on the right side of the paper. You should choose the ONE that best fits into the passage. It was the report of the New ZealandGovernment’s Early Childhood Care and Education Working Group. The report argued forenhanced equity (公平) of access and better funding for childcare and early childhood educationinstitutions. Unquestionably, that’s a real need;but since parents don’t normally send children topreschoolsuntil the age of three, are we missing out on the most important years of all?A 13yearstudy of early childhood development at Harvard University has shown that, by theage of three, most children have the potential to understand about 1000 words – most of thelanguage they will use in ordinary conversation for the rest of their lives.Furthermore, research has shown that while every child is born with a natural curiosity, it canbe suppressed dramatically during the second and third years of life. Researchers claim that thehuman personality is formed during the first two years of life, and during the first three yearschildren learn the basic skills they will use in all their later learning both at home and at school.Once over the age of three, children continue to expand on existing knowledge of the world. It is generally acknowledged that young people from poorer socioeconomicbackgroundstend to do less well in our education system. That’s observed not just in New Zealand, but also inAustralia, Britain and America. In an attempt to overcome that educational underachievement, anationwide program called ‘Headstart’ was launched in the United States in 1965. A lot of moneywas poured into it. It took children into preschoolinstitutions at the age of three and wassupposed to help the children of poorer families succeed in school.Despite substantial funding, results have been disappointing. It is thought that there are twoexplanations for this. First, the program began too late. Many children who entered it at the age ofthree were already behind their peers in language and measurable intelligence. Second, the parentswere not involved. At the end of each day, ‘Headstart’ children returned to the same disadvantagedhome environment. As a result of the growing research evidence of the importance of the first three years of achild’s life and the disappointing results from ‘Headstart’, a pilot program was launched inMissouri in the US that focused on parents as the child’s first teachers. The ‘Missouri’ programwas predicated on research showing that working with the family, rather than bypassing theparents, is the most effective way of helping children get off to the best possible start in life. Thefouryearpilot study included 380 families who were about to have their first child and whorepresented a crosssectionof socioeconomicstatus, age and family configurations (结构). Theyincluded singleparentand twoparentfamilies, families in which both parents worked, andfamilies with either the mother or father at home. The program involved trained parent educators visiting the parents’ home and working withthe parent, or parents, and the child. Information on child development, and guidance on things tolook for and expect as the child grows were provided, plus guidance in fostering the child’sintellectual, language, social and motorskilldevelopment. Periodic checkupsof the child’seducational and sensory development (hearing and vision) were made to detect possible handicapsthat interfere with growth and development. Medical problems were referred to professionals.Parenteducatorsmade personal visits to homes and monthly group meetings were held withother new parents to share experience and discuss topics of interest. Parent resource centers, located in school buildings, offered learning materials for families and facilities for child. At the age of three, the children who had been involved in the ‘Missouri’ program wereevaluated alongside a crosssectionof children selected from the same range of socioeconomic backgrounds and family situations, and also a random sample of children that age. The resultswere phenomenal. By the age of three, the children in the program were significantly moreadvanced in language development than their peers, had made greater strides in problem solvingand other intellectual skills, and were further along in social development. In fact, the averagechild on the program was performing at the level of the top 15 to 20 per cent of their peers in suchthings as auditory comprehension, verbal ability and language ability. Most important of all, the traditional measures of ‘risk’, such as parents’ age and education, orwhether they were a single parent, bore little or no relationship to the measures of achievementand language development. Children in the program performed equally well regardless ofsocioeconomicdisadvantages. Child abuse was virtually eliminated. The one factor that wasfound to affect the child’s development was family stress leading to a poor quality of parentchildinteraction. That interaction was not necessarily bad inpoorer families. These research findings are exciting. There is growing evidence in New Zealand that childrenfrom poorer socioeconomicbackgrounds are arriving at school less well developed and that ourschool system tends to perpetuate (使永存) that disadvantage. The initiative outlined above couldbreak that cycle of disadvantage. The concept of working with parents in their homes, or at theirplace of work, contrasts quite markedly with the report of the Early Childhood Care and EducationWorking Group. Their focus is on getting children and mothers access to childcare andinstitutionalized early childhood education. Education from the age of three to five is undoubtedlyvital, but without a similar focus on parent education and on the vital importance of the first threeyears, some evidence indicates that it will not be enough to overcome educational inequity.1. The skills learned by children at age of three will be used in all their later learning in life.2. The ‘Headstart’ program finally succeeded in its aim.3. The ‘Missour’ program supplied many forms of support and training to parents.4. They have developed ahitlistof our main fears: natural resources are 47 out;the population is ever growing, leaving less and less to eat; species are becoming 48 in vast numbers, and the planet’sair and water are becoming ever more polluted. But a quick look at the facts shows a different picture. First, energy and other naturalresources have become more 49 not less so, since the book ‘The Limits to Growth’ waspublished in 1972 by a group of scientists. Second, more food is now produced per 50 ofthe world’s population than at any time in history. Fewer people are 51 . Third, althoughspecies are indeed becoming extinct, only about 0.7% of them are expected to disappear in thenext 50 years, not 25~50%, as has so often been 52 . And finally, most forms ofenvironmental pollution either appear to have been 53 , or are transient – associated withthe early stages of industrialization and therefore best cured not by restricting economic growth, but by 54 it. One form of pollution –the release of greenhouse gases that causes globalwarming – does appear to be a phenomenon that is going to extend well into our future, but itstotal impact is unlikely to 55 a devastating (令人心神不安的) problem. A biggerproblem may well turn out to be an inappropriate response to it.Yet opinion polls suggest that many people nurture the belief that environmental standardsare declining and some factors seem to cause this disjunction between 56 and reality.A) pose I) starvingB) exaggerated J) headC) accelerating K) runningD) extinct L) predictedE) exist M) abundantF) perception N) conceptionG) wealthy O) reducingH) magnifiedSection BDirections: There are 2 passages in this section. Youshould decide on the best choice and mark the corresponding letter on Answer Sheet 2 with asingle line through the centre.Passage OneQuestions 57 to 61 are based on the following passage. Most conceptions of the process of motivation begin with the assumption that behavior is, atleast in part, directed towards the attainment of goals or towards the satisfaction of needs ormotives. Accordingly, it is appropriate to begin our consideration of motivation in the work placeby examining the motives for working. Simon points out that an organization should be able tosecure the participation of a person by offering him inducements(引诱)which contribute in someway to at least one of his goals. The kinds of inducements offered by an organization are varied, and if they are effective in maintaining participation they must necessarily be based on the needsof the individuals.Maslow examines in detail what these needs are. He points out not only that there are manyneeds ranging from basic physiological drives such as hunger to a more abstract desire forselfrealization, but also that they are arranged in a hierarchy(等级制度)whereby the lowerorderneeds must to a large degree be satisfied before the higherorderones come into play. One of the most obvious ways in which work organizations attract and retain members isthrough the realization that economic factors are not the only inducement for working as indicatedby Morse and Weiss. In line with the social respect and selfrealizationneeds discussed by Maslow, factors such as associations with others, selfrespectgained through the work, and a high interestvalue of the work can serve effectively to induce people to work.57. According to Maslow, a work organization is able to motivate people to work by _______.A) satisfying their physiological needsB) satisfying their selfrealizationneedsC) satisfying hierarchy of their higherorderneedD) first satisfying their lowerorderneeds58. Lowerorderneeds concern a person’s _______.A) essential physical needs C) selfrealizationB) selfrespectD) working relationships with others59. Which of the following is NOT a higher need that attractspeople to work?A) Association with others. C) Interest value of the work.B) Possibility of earning a good salary. D) Cultivation of selfrespect.60. Which of the following statements may be supported by Morse and Weiss?A) Physiological needs are the most basic.B) There is a hierarchy of needs that must be met.C) Economic factors are the greatest inducement.D) Personalesteem and the gaining of power is the most important factor.61. Simon points out that ________.A) the needs of individuals range from hunger to selfrealizationB) economic factors are not the only inducement for workingC) effective inducements must be based on what individuals wantD) inducements must not be too variedPassage TwoQuestions 62 to 66 are based on the following passage. The justification for a university is that it preserves the connection between knowledge andthe zest of life, by uniting the young and the old in the imaginative consideration of learning. Theuniversity imparts information, but it imparts it imaginatively. At least, this is the function which itshould perform for society. A university which fails in this respect has no reason for existence. This atmosphere of excitement, arising from imaginativeconsideration, transforms knowledge. Afact is no longer a burden on the memory, it is energizing as the poet of our dreams and as thearchitect of our purposes.Imagination is not to be divorced from the facts: it is a way of illuminating the facts. It worksby eliciting the general principles which apply to the facts, as they exist, and then by anintellectual survey of alternative possibilities which are consistent with those principles. It enablesmen to construct an intellectual vision of a new world, and it preserves the zest of life by thesuggestion of satisfying purposes.Youth is imaginative, and if the imagination be strengthened by discipline, this energy ofimagination can in great measure be preserved through life. The tragedy of the world is that thosewho are imaginative have but slight experience, and those who are experienced have feebleimagination. Fools act on imagination without knowledge;pedants(学究)act on knowledgewithout imagination. The task of university is to weld together imagination and experience.62. The main theme of the passage is ____.A) the access to knowledge in universityB) the function of universitiesC) the role of imagination in our livesD) the relationship between imagination and experience63. According to the passage, the justification for a university is that ____.A) it presents facts and experience to young and oldB) it imparts knowledge to imaginative peopleC) it combines imagination with knowledge and experienceD) it enables men to construct an intellectual vision of the world64. The word “eliciting” in paragraph 2 probably means ____.A) applying C) drawing forthB) challenging D) preserving65. Which of the following is NOT discussed as one of the things imagination can do?A) It makes our life exciting and worthwhile.B) It helps us to understand the world.C) It helps us to formulate Laws about the facts.D) It provides inspiration to the artists.66. According to the author, the tragedy of the world is that ____.A) our energy of imagination cannot be preservedB) our imagination is seldom disciplinedC) we grow old inevitablyD) too many people are either fools or pedantsPart V Cloze (15 minutes)Directions: There are 20 blanks in the following passage. When pe rsonalities don’t mix, thespecifics can tear roommates apart and sometimes even lead to serious conflicts. Besides, the factthat roommates hold different attitudes towards certain issue is another factor causing theseconflicts.Roommate conflicts are harmful and need to be settled. Though many people think that schooldiscipline can soften the conflicts, I believe learning to be tolerant with each other can play a moreconstructive role because it teaches students flexibility and。

参考范文:On DisastersAn old saying goes: Life is full of roses and thorns. As we all know, ones life is full of unexpected events, some of which are wonderful and some of which are disastrous. Those heavy blows, such as, floods, snowstorms, and earthquakes, threaten to weigh one down. However、its even worse if one cant drag himself out of the grief in that mental break-down is more serious than the disaster itself. Instead of indulging oneself in sadness, one should take positive attitude towards life and contribute to the reconstruction of his or her life and hometown. As for me, if I am lucky enough to survive in a disaster, I will try my best to help those who are suffering by donation blood or money. IfI am a victim, I will endeavor to recover from the sadness as soon as possible and be certain to be strong and supportive to the recovery work. 题目要求:On Dishonesty in Tourism1. 近年来旅游行业中不诚信现象比较普遍2. 出现这一现象的原-因3. 我对这一现象的看法和建议参考范文:On Dishonesty in TourismSince 1980s, the economy of China has developed greatly. With more money in their pockets, people are spending more money on travelling, which has brought prosperity to tourism. Nevertheless, many travel agencies or agents are reported to cheat their customers and make money in a dishonest way.The reason for dishonesty in tourism is various. First and for most, money is the spur. Some travel agencies use all means to cheat their customers in order to get more money. Secondly, to survive in the fierce competition, travel agencies have to make enough profits. To realize profit maximization, they cheat. Last but not least, their victims seem to have little sense of defending their rights. To regulate travel agencies and protect the rights of tourists, the government has issued various laws. However, I think tourists can take the following tips to avoid travel scams. First, choose a trustworthytravel agency for your trip. Secondly, use your common sense and keep alert while travelling. Finally, defend yourself if your rights are violated. 题目要求:Directions: Write a composition entitled Telling Lies. 大学英语四级写作模拟题论说文十大必背范文(一)出国留学Directions:For this part, you are allowed 30 minutes to write a short essay on the topic Studying Abroad. You should write at least 120 words following the outline given below:1.日前很多小国学生出国留学2.出国留学的好处3.我的看法[范文]Studying AboradNowadays, going abroad for studies is enjoying a striking popularity among adolescents. Importance should be attached to studying abroad. There are a great many advantages of studying overseas. First and foremost, living and studying abroad offers students a different perspective of the world. On a university campus, international s tudents are likely to encounter their counterparts from various countries and areas and are exposed to diverse ideas and values. What is more, overseas experience is the best opportunity for the real-life use of foreign languages. There is no better opportunity to improve second-language skills than living in the country in which it is spoken.Generally speaking: it is my view that although going abroad is expensive and perhaps painful, the payoff is worthwhile. In the first place, in addition to knowledge, overseas students can gain precious experiences that those who stay at home will never have. Furthermore, overseas experience, frustrating and painful as it may be, is conducive to the growth of adolescents.(二)就业Directions:For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Jobs for Graduates. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1.大学生难找工作2.原因很多3.解决的办法[范文]Jobs for GraduatesJob hunting has always been a headache for college students. Though many graduates am employed right after graduation, some are not. Most serious of all, some still have no idea where to go working even a long time after graduation. The reasons for this phenomenon are various. On the one hand, a few years ago colleges and universities enrolled so many students in popular majors, such as economy, finance and so on that the number of graduates was greater than the need in the market. On the other hand, most graduates would rather stay in large cities without suitable job to do than go to the country.I reckon this problem can be solved if both colleges and students take measures. First, they should research the market and develop special skills to suit its need. Second, students' attitude towards employment should be changed. They should go to small cities and country. There they can also give full play to their professional knowledge. In a word, if we pay mush attention, the situation can be improved.(三)互联网Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Internet. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1.互联网使用的现状2.大学生是否应该使用互联网,人们的看法不同3.我的看法[范文]InternetIn recent years, people are developing an inseparable relationship with Internet. As is known to all, it is convenient for us to click the mouse when surfing on line, either to entertain ourselves or to meet the work's needs. On the one hand, no one denies that Internet is currently one of the must useful media in our dally life. As a college student, I get on line every day to exchange information through e-mails with my net friends. But on the other hand, a good many people admit that they are too much addicted to Internet to maintain a regular and wholesome lifestyle. Thus, it is necessary for us to use Internet in a reasonable way and restrain from overindulgence. After all, Internet is invented to enrich our life, and to improve the efficiency of our work rather than shackle us with a chain.(四)考试Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic My Views on Examinations. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1.大学都用考试来衡量学生的成绩2.考生可能带来的副作用3.我对考试的看法[范文]My Views on ExaminationsIn most colleges and universities the examination is used as a chief means of deciding whether a student succeeds or fails in mastering a particular subject. Although it does the job quite efficiently, its side effects are also enormous. To begin with, examinations lower the standards of teaching. Since teachers are often judged by examination results, they are reduced to training their students in exam techniques. No subjects can be taught successfully merely through being approached with intent to take examinations. In addition, the most undesirable effect is that examinations encourage bad study habits. As the examination score is the only criterion for his academic performance, a student is driven m memorize mechanically rather than to think creatively. In fact, few of us admit that examinations can contribute anything really important to the students' academic development. If that is the case, why cannot we make a change and devise something more efficient and reliable than examinations?(五)节日Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Which to Celebrate--the Western or Eastern Festivals? You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1.年轻人日益喜欢西方节日2.关于西方与东方节日,人们的看法不同3.我的看法[范文]Which to Celebrate--the W esten or Eastern Festivals?Nowadays, the majority of young people are willing to celebrate western festivals. As a result, importance should be attached to the issue of festival celebration. For one thing, western festival celebrations are so colorful that especially the youth cannot resist all the temptation of having one. Just imagine the romantic atmosphere on St. V alentine's Day, the fun on All Fool's Day and the ecstasy brought by gills and games at Christmas. For another, Chinese festivals have their own attractions.Think about the comfort of family reunion during Spring Festival and the delicacy of national feelings on many occasions. As for me, some fashionable western festivals are no doubt days to set aside as special. Meanwhile, I cannot afford to be absent from family gathering during many Chinese festivals. My celebration would be a combined one, some for western festivals, some for Chinese ones.(六)网上交友Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Internet Friendship. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1. 网上交友的现状2. 我所了解的一个例子3. 我对于网上交友的看法[范文] Internet FriendshipAccording to the recent survey by CCTV, 80% of people who surf online are there in, search of social interaction. As a consequence, the voice speaking through the other side of the line can be used to disguise aspects of a user's personality. And this might bring an unpleasant or even damaging outcome.Numerous examples can be given, but this will suffice. One of my closest friend, Helen, started a net relationship with a man she knew as "Prince Charming". The physical contact, however, reveals that her beloved idol was a husband with wife.In my view, first and foremost, it is true that people may gain community on the net, but this exists only in cyberspace. Furthermore, although Internet friendship can give users companionship and even romance, it often ends with failure and even disaster. It is high time that we placed great emphasis on this phenomenon.(七)青少年犯罪Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic Juvenile Delinquency. You should write at least 120 words and base your composition on the outline below:1. 青少年犯罪的现状2. 这个问题的原因3. 我的建议[范文]Juvenile DelinquencyRecently, juvenile delinquency is increasingly lower than normal age. Careful deliberation of this problem has given me several ideas as to why this should be so.To begin with, with the rising divorce rate, some children are not properly taken care of, and are easily led astray by evildoers. What is more, inexperienced and gullible young people plunge into the illusory world of electric games, on-line chat or even pornography. Such alienation from proper social values is the slippery slope to crime. It is my view that, first of all, the whole of society should attach great importance to the sound growth of youngsters. Furthermore, proper guidance and protection of adults and schools are vital to teenagers. To sum up, if we exert every effort, the juvenile crime rate will undoubtedly be brought down and effectively controlled in a short while.(八)我最喜爱的小说Directions: For this part you are allowed 30 minutes to write a composition on the topic My Favorite Novel. But perhaps the most unforgettable person I ever know is my English teacher. What frequently brings back memories of my English teacher is his special qualifies. First of all, he gave us the greatest gift a teacher can offer--an awakening of a passion for learning. He not only led us to an appreciation of the beauty and perfection of English language and literature, but also aroused our great interest in exploring something deeper in this field. The expenses on food have declined by 30% while those on closing and recreation have increased respectively by 90/0 and 7%.There are two factors accounting for these changes.
