1.Both as warlike divinities, how did Athena differ from Mars?

Mars is god of war, which is very strong and good at fight with strength. However, Athena is goddess of war and wisdom, which is very smart and skilled in strategy of war.

2.What led to Bacchus’ wandering?

Bacchus invented how to plant grapes and brew wine. He was wandering around and spread this kind of knowledge to bring people the joy of drinking.

3.What made Hades fall in love with Persephone(Proserpine)?

As signs of womanly beauty began to shine along side her childlike innocence, the adolescent goddess Persephone unwittingly attracted the attention of the Greek god Hades.

4.What was Juno’s punishment for Echo?

Juno deprived Echo of speech, except for the ability to repeat the last words of another.

5.What did Heracles do to reveal his heroic potential in his infancy?

Theseus, feeling in himself the spirit and the soul of a hero, and eager to signalize himself like Hercules, with whose fame all Greece then rang, by destroying

the evil-doers and monsters that oppressed the country, determined on the more perilous and adventurous journey by land.

7.Why did Zeus finally decided to give up Thetis as his wife?

Zeus had received a prophecy that Thetis's son would become greater than his father, like Zeus had dethroned his father to lead the succeeding pantheon. In order to ensure a mortal father for her eventual offspring, Zeus made arrangements for Thetis to marry a human, Peleus, son of Aeacus.

8.Why was Oedipus ordered to be killed as a child?

A prophet warned King Laius of Thebes that because he had married his cousin Jocasta, he would be killed by his son. To avoid the disaster, he ordered his loyal shepherd to kill his newborn baby son Oedipus.
