The advice from grandparents has no use for their grandchildren because the world changed a lot during the past 50 years. Our world has changed so much in the last half a century. The invention of the internet alone has altered society to an astounding degree. Given that the world we live in now is so drastically different than the world of 50 years ago, can the advice of grandparents still be relevant for their grandchildren? I think so.For one thing, even though society has changed in countless ways, some things are still the same. We still have many of the problems we had 50 years ago. For example, things like war, hunger, and social inequality are still pervasive issues in today’s world. Because of that, a lot of the advice relevant 50 years ago will still be applicable today. I remember that my grandmother once telling me that she worked to feed the poor when she was younger. She then advised me to pursue philanthropic work at some point in my life. She said for her, philanthropic work gave her some of the most meaningful experiences of her life. This was true 50 years ago, and it likely still holds true today. For another thing, even though some advice from grandparents can be incredibly outdated, it can be useful to get such a different perspective on things sometimes. My grandfather often tells meabout his long and innocent courtship of my grandmother, and about all of the things he did in order to get her attention. I usually just smile and nod when he tells me to follow his example, though I never have any intention of using his tips. I think to myself, “Courtship today is such a different creature. We have cell phones and social networks and all of these different ways to interacting. How can such old fashion ed thinking be relevant today?” But hearing his advice made me think about a different way of doing things, and so even though I would never chase a girl in the way he described, I can adapt some of his ideas to mix up. Girls today are used to being chased a certain way, but if you throw in a technique out of your grandpa’s playbook once in a while, you can surprise them and make a deeper impression.Granted, we should not blindly heed all of our grandparents’ advice. Sometimes, the pointers they give really are too outdated to use. For example, my grandmother thinks I should get a Ph. D because it will help me get a job, but in reality, academic inflation is so severe today that a Ph. D will no longer guarantee you employment. Still, her advice did get me thinking about learning specific job skills to make me more competitive. In the end, I was still happy to hear her advice because it caused me to think about the issue in a different way.The world has changed much since our grandparents’ time. However, their accumulated experience can still serve us well in our modern world. With an open mind and some common sense, we can still get a lot of the advice of our grandparents.。

Task 1: Describe what your life would be like if you were banned from using your cellphone for a month. Give specific details and examples in your response.S a m p l eIt’d be horrible if I’m not allowed to use my cellphone for an en tire month.First, people do everything nowadays on their cellphone. Take myself for example. All my class schedules are on my phone. Sometimes I take audio notes in a class that might be going too fast for me which helps enormously. Also, when it comes to communication, cellphones are extremely important for us if not crucial. Especially in the case of an emergency. I can call or text my parents for help. For example, if it rains and I don’t have an umbrella with me, I can call my parents so they can pick me up after school.Task 2: Do you agree or disagree with the statement that protecting the environment is as important as economical development.S a m p l eI agree with the statement that protecting the environment is as important as economical development. First, lots of the damages done to our environment are irreversible. It takes decadesto reduce air and water pollution, and in some cases the damages can not be undone. Take oil spillages as an example, the impact they have on marine life is impossible to repair. Second, no matter how advanced our social structure and technology get, we can’t enjoy our life if the environment is ruined. What’s the point of having more money when we have to constantly worry about food safety and air and water pollution?相关推荐:托福口语考生不得不注意的四个问题盘点托福口语的七个评分标准总结托福口语中10个常见的被动句相关字搜索:托福口语。

For instance, there are advertisements of Coca-Cola everywhere around the world, and Coca-Cola seems to be the most competitive brand among companies selling beverages. Regardless of how much the world has changed in the past fifty years, I still believe the advice my grandparents can give me is good. My grandparents have had a lot of experiences and survived a lot of hardships. When my great grandmother died young, my grandmother had to grow up fast and help raise her brothers and sisters. This was during the Great Depression, when people had to save every penny just to be able to get by. My grandmother has talked with me about how she got through these hard times, and by listening to her stories I have learned many valuable lessons. I have learned to value the things that I have and to work hard for things that I want. When it comes to taking care of my family, I always ask my grandmother for advice. My grandparents are also a good resource for advice, because they have been around longer and, therefore know more of the world. In my studies, I may have had the opportunities to travel all over the world. While both of my grandfathers have not traveled as much as me, that does not mean they have not experienced the world. During World War II, both of my grandfathers were stationed abroad. They not only lived in Europe for a long period, but they also were able to interact with troops of foreign armies. They did not have the educational opportunities that I have had, but that does not mean that I know more about the world than they do. Admittedly, there are some areas in which I cannot go to my grandparents for advice, namely technology. Cell phones and computers were not around until my grandparents retired, so they have never had to use this kind of technology for work or study. While my grandparents have tried to keep up with the times, they are certainly not experts. Whenever I visit my grandmother, for example, she always asks me to fix her computer. I would say the only thing I cannot go to my grandparents for advice is anything concerning technology.Even though there are certain areas in which my grandparents are not that well informed, this does not me an that they do not have good or useful advice. Grandparents’ wisdom from the experiences they have had can give us insight and help us make decisions. SAMPLE TWO Time witnesses the great progress which we have made in our life. There is no doubt that the modern world has changed a lot over the past several decades. As a result, some people argue that the advices from our grandparents have no use for their grandchildren. Is it true? The answer is negative. I maintain that our grandparents’ advices are sti ll constructive in most case. First of all, no matter how the society has changed, grandparents’ advices especially in the aspect of life and morel are still very helpful. We all might have experience the same cases in our early age. Our grandparents often present us some useful suggestions such as how to get along with other people by sharing their own experience, and we should be honest in any situations. Their advices definitely have severed as good preparation for their grandchild to become excellent adults. Therefore, we should appreciate our grandparents’ helpful advices rather than thinking of their advice is useless. What’s more, our grandparents accumulate more experience so that they usually have better perspectives in some things. For example, once I encounter the choice of a job with high salary but I am not interested in and a job with a lower salary but I really know lots about it. And meanwhile, my family also suffer big economic burden since my parents lose their jobs. I did not how to choose, in this case, my grandfather suggest me that I should choose job based on my own interest according to his experience, because long-term success depend on performance out of vital interest, interest in certain area could encourage me to take an optimistic viewpoint and continue action to accomplish my goal. Even when facing problems, I might tackle them and move forward. And now, I have achieved some success in my field and it is turn out that my grandfather’s advice is very helpful. Last but not least, it is commonly acknowledge that our grandparents are out of date. But it is not true. Many old people try hard to catch up with the modern life. They get information from internet and television to enrich their life experienced, they keep themselves update. So I believe that their advices are still very useful. All in all, I maintain that our grandparents’ advices are still useful whatever the society has changed.)解析:阅读9.(分数:5.00)__________________________________________________________________________________________正确答案:)解析:10.(分数:5.00)__________________________________________________________________________________________正确答案:)解析:11.(分数:5.00)__________________________________________________________________________________________正确答案:)解析:听力12.CONVERSATION ONE Office Hours 1.女生去找天文学课的老师,恰好老师准备找女生谈谈她的论文。
