An unforgettable experience

刘逸博2015210849

Good morning ladies and gentlemen,

Today I’m going to talk about one of my most unforgettable experi ence.

How would you describe a impressive trip? Maybe happy to most people.I just want to share with you a story about a trip that was not all about happiness but stroke me so strongly. The story was abouta A-I tour guide on my first trip overseas to the US 3years ago.

There’re three tour guides on our trip, two handsome white guys, and a little American-Indian guy, Shawn. Something tricky happened just on the first day. At scenic spots, many girls asked handsome Leigh and Austen to take photo together, however, less girls invited Shawn. Actually it’s kind of embarrassing.

I felt sorry for that but some of my friends just laugh at it privately. Days laterthere were even bad words about him and my friends avoided to be close to him or ignored his invitation to take photos together. Obviously he felt the strangeness. I tried to be nice all along, but still unable to persuaded my friends.

The night before leaving, something strange happened. We were in the hotel and as my friends and I walked from one room to another, suddenly we noticeda familiar figure in the elevator, lifting up to us. It was Shawn! He saw us and waved to us. My friends almost screamed out and we rushed to the room. Not long after, just as expected, there was a knock at the door. Shawn asked us to open the door and we kept silent in horror. One of us phoned our teacher for help, and another were seeking for tools that may use for defense. Finally I responded to him, telling him we had already slept. He confirmed that we didn’t and insisted on us open the door. He blamed us for making noises and refused to leave until I told him the room next to us were to blame. We sighed with a relief, still trembling.

After the trip they all hate Shawn so much but I just couldn’t. Was that discrimination? Or at least prejudice.T ill now I still couldn’t point out was that cau sed by Shawn’s ethnicity or just because we simply judged a man byhis appearance and popularity. I believe that prejudice was not naturally existed, but people create it. Maybe my friends and I were naïve and need to be more sophisticated. And I have another concern, that only such little things as appearance could cause prejudice, what if we were facing disabled, people from the third world, those whose living standard below us, or the people who just have some characteristic we don’t like? Respect the dif ferences and understand them instead of reject. Tha t’s why this trip means a lot to me.
