Comparing the ‘Blue Nude’by Pablo Picasso with the ‘Blue Nude’by Henri Matisse, both two images indicate a woman with their own action and their colours look muted but two picture shows the different emotions and characteristics.

The first one seems that more coarse than the second one, for distinguishing by the levels of colour, tones and lines.

Unlike the Henri’s, Picasso’s seems more pale. It looks like a woman rolls up herself, just gives is a lonely sight of her back, look like want to find the feeling of save and comfortable. Furthermore, the blond lines that used in the first one can give the public a deep impression, for almost like sculptures. Dark- blue takes over the most of the work. The level of the blue is nearly close to the grey. As we known, the set of colours is a good way to represent the misfortune as well as to make the whole image seems depressive. The rough, coarse and uneven lines’ styles all can display the screwy emotion.

Similarly the first one, blue takes over the most. However this one looks more active in the main. Another hand, the picture has the flowing lines, make me think of the waves of river. The woman in the picture looks like in appearance. Coupled with colours, obviously the second one looks much lighter. Blue and white indicate the strong contrasting tone make the emotion looks stronger. The whole image appears vibrant and earthy. Although it is not colourful enough. Actually the woman makes me feel gentle but this production is not as subtle as the first one.

In conclusion, both pictures have the similar size and belong to the portrait. Because the blues are different, they achieve the different emotions and themes..
