Halloween used to be a time for kids . In the past , the festival meant houses decorated with Jack-o-lanterns , cool costumes made by mums , and going door to door to ask for candy , saying ” trick or treat.”
However , you wouldn’t have seen any of these if you were at this year’s Halloween even in Shibuya, Tokyo . It lasted for four days from October 27.
Halloween in Japan has become a big party for adults , who dress up in costumes
and have fun . This year’s events were so popular that Tokyo police had to stop
cars from entering two streets so that walker could pass safely . In other words ,
this festival is no longer just a time for kids . AS USA Today editor Bruce Horovitz
wrote ,”Adult have slowly been stealing Halloween from kids.”
But “Steal” is not quite the word , since the adults of today all used to
be kids themselves , These grown-ups still manage to keep the tradition of dressing
up alive though they’re too old to knock stranger’s door for candy now .
Some companies even encourage their employees to wear costumes so they can
relax and enjoy the festival fun. “You can wear whatever you want and not be
judged ,” Denise Delahorne of an advertising company told Forbes when asked why
adults like Halloween more than other holidays. “There is no stress to it . You
don’t have to travel or deal with relatives . if you are single , you don’t have
the stress to go to have a date during this holiday.”
That isn’t good news for kids , but on the bright side , at least young people
can still get free candy . And what could be better than that ?

The motor vehicle has killed and disabled more people than any weapon(武器)
ever invented . Much of the blood on the street flows mainly because of careless
drivers . These drivers refuse to respect the law . The accidents on the road may
be regarded as a social problem . In fact , the enemies of society are harmless
people or ordinary people . You may think these people act carelessly , but
carelessly is no excuse when one’s actions could bring death or damage to others.
Researchers think that as many as 80% of all automobile accidents can be caused
by the psychological(心理的) condition of the drivers . The experts warn that it
is very import for drivers to try to keep their emotions under control. When the
drivers are upset, their judgment will be slow , and they may be unaware of the
danger . Actually, street walkers should also be responsible for the accidents
because they don’t obey the traffic rules . They are responsible in most vehicle
walker accidents . And worst of all , many bicycle-riders even believe that they
needn’t obey the basic rules of the road.
In the past few years , many laws have been made towards safer driving . Safely
standards for vehicle have been raised too . In addition , speed limits have been
lowered . Due to these measures , the accident rate has decreased . But the accident
experts still worry because there has been little or no improvement in the way
drivers behave. The only real and lasting solution , say the experts , is to ask
people to believe driving is a skilled task requiring care and concentration(专
注).
