1My Hometown ChangshuHi, my name is Xiaoming and I'm 10 years old. I was born and raised in a city called Changshu in Jiangsu Province, China. Changshu is not a big city like Beijing or Shanghai, but it's a very special place to me. Let me tell you all about my beloved hometown!Changshu is an ancient city with a long history going back over 2,500 years. It used to be a very important town along the Grand Canal that connected northern and southern China. Even today, you can still see sections of the old canal running through the city. There are also many old buildings, temples, and city walls that remind us of Changshu's rich past. One of my favorite places in the old town area is Zhengxie Street. This street has been around for centuries and it's like stepping back in time when you walk along it. The buildings have the classic white walls and black roofs of traditional Chinese architecture. There are little shops selling arts and crafts, antiques, snacks, and all sorts of interesting things. I love exploring the back alleys and courtyards off the main street.Another special place in Changshu is Shazhong Garden, which used to be the private gardens of a rich family during the Ming Dynasty. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, with ancient trees, ponds, pavilions, and carefully designed rock and water features. It's a wonderfully peaceful place to spend an afternoon. During the summer, there are always lots of colorful lotus flowers blooming on the ponds. As well as being an old historic city, Changshu also has a modern side. One of the most famous things produced in Changshu is high-quality silk. The city is well-known across China for its booming silk industry. Many of the newest skyscrapers and shopping malls in the downtown areas are related to silk companies and sellers. Every year, there is a huge Silk Culture Festival to celebrate this important local product.Changshu is located right next to Taihu Lake, which is one of the largest freshwater lakes in China. The lake area is a great place for weekend family trips. You can rent boats, swim, visit amusement parks, see interesting museums about the lake ecology, and sample delicious local fish and rice dishes. Thesunsets over the lake are incredibly beautiful, with the sky turning shades of pink, purple and orange.During holidays like Chinese New Year, the streets and lanes of the old town area come alive with the sights, smells and sounds of celebrations and traditions. You'll see beautiful red lanterns and decorations hung up everywhere. There are dragon dances, firecrackers, and special new year food delicacies like niangao (glutinous rice cakes). The atmosphere during these festivals is electric and filled with joy.Changshu may not be a big famous city, but it's a place with its own unique character and charm. It has gorgeous natural scenery with the lake, rivers and gardens. It mixes the ancient and modern with historic streets alongside modern shopping districts. And of course, it has its own delicious local cuisine and vibrant cultural traditions.I'm proud to be from Changshu and cherish all the happy memories I have here. From visiting Shazhong Garden and watching the lotus flowers bloom, to enjoying fresh local snacks on Zhengxie Street, to dragon dance celebrations during new year, Changshu will always feel like home to me. I hope someday you can come visit my hometown too and experience its beauty and friendliness for yourself!篇2My Hometown ChangshuMy name is Xiao Ming, and I'm a 10-year-old boy studying in the fifth grade.
