Extending from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean, the United States is a federal republic, with its capital in Washington, D.C.The present-day continental United States has been inhabited for at least 15,000 years by indigenous tribes.[1] After European exploration and settlement in the 16th century, the English established their own colonies—and gained control of others that had been begun by other European nations—in the eastern portion of the continent in the 17th and early 18thcenturies. On 4 July 1776, at war with Britain over fair governance, thirteen of these colonies declared their independence. In 1783, the war ended in British acceptance of the new nation. Since then, the country has more than quadrupled in size: it now consists of 50 states and one federal district; it also has numerous overseas territories. At over 3.7 million square miles (over 9.5 million km²), the U.S. is the third or fourth largest country by total area, depending on whether the disputed areas of China are included. It is the world's third most populous nation, with nearly 300 million people. The United States has maintained a liberal democratic political system since it adopted its Articles of Confederation on 1 March 1781 and the Constitution, the Articles' replacement, on 17 September 1787. American military, economic, cultural, and political influence increased throughout the 20th century; with the collapse of the Soviet Union at the end of the Cold War, the nation emerged as the world's sole remaining superpower.[2] Today, it plays a major role in world affairs. The earliest known use of the name America is from 1507, when a globe and a large map created by the German cartographer Martin Waldseemüller in Saint-Die-des-Vosges described the combined continents of North and South America. Although the origin of the name is uncertain[3], the most widely held belief is that expressed in an accompanying book, Cosmographiae Introductio, which explains it as a feminized version of the Latin name of Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci (Americus Vespucius); in Latin, the other continents' names were all feminine. Vespucci theorized, correctly, that Christopher Columbus, on reaching islands in the Caribbean Sea in 1492, hadcome not to India but to a "New World".The Americas were also known as Columbia, after Columbus, prompting the name District of Columbia for the land set aside as the U.S. capital. Columbia remained a popular name for the United States until the early 20th century, when it fell into relative disuse; but it is still used poetically and appears in various names and titles. A female personification of the country is also called Columbia; she is similar to Britannia.[4][5][6][7] Columbus Day, a holiday in the U.S. and other countries in the Americas commemorating Columbus' October 1492 landing. The term "united States of America" was first used officially in the Declaration of Independence, adopted on 4 July 1776. On 15 November 1777, the Second Continental Congreadopted the Articles of Confederation, the first of which stated "The Stile of this Confederacy shall be 'The United States of America.'"The adjectival and demonymic forms for the United States are American, a point of controversy among some.美国旅游英语作文高二3Los Angeles, city in southern California, the most populous city in the state and the second most populous city and metropolitan region in the United States, after New York City.Located on the Pacific Ocean near the U.S.border with Mexico, the metropolis is noted for its pleasant climate and scenic setting. It is situated on a hilly coastal plain surrounded by beaches in the west and mountains and deserts in other directions.Referred to casually as “LA,” Los Angeles is one of the major industrial, commercial, and financial centers of the United States. It is known especially for its motion-picture,aeronautics,and aerospace industries. This international, multicultural city is alsohome to the largest Mexican,Korean,Salvadoran, and Guatemalan populations outside of those countries.Los Angeles has grown at a phenomenal rate since the late 19th century.Since the 1920s it has been the leading city of California as well as the most important metropolis west of the Mississippi River.美国旅游英语作文高二4USA field place North America central section , east face Atlantic Ocean , the north being near to Canada , meet Mexico and the Gulf of Mexico in the south. 小编精心收集了关于美国旅游英文介绍,供大家欣赏学习! 关于美国旅游英文介绍篇1The Culture of the United States is a Western culture, and has been developing since long before the United States became a country. Today the United States is a diverse and multi-cultural nation. The types of food served at home vary greatly and depend upon the region of the country and the family's own cultural heritage. Recent immigrants tend to eat food similar to that of their country of origin, and Americanized versions of these cultural foods, such as American Chinese cuisine or Italian-American cuisine often eventually appear. German cuisine also had a profound impact on American cuisine, especially the mid-western cuisine, with potatoes and meat being the most iconic ingredients in both cuisines.[3] Dishes such as the hamburger, pot roast, baked ham and hot dogs are examples of American dishes derived from German cuisineThe primary, although not official, language of the United States is American English. According to the 2000 U.S. Census, more than 97% of Americans can speak English well, and for 81% it is the only language spoken at home. Nearly 30 million native speakers of Spanish also reside in the US. There are more than 300 languages besides English which can claim native speakers in the United States—some of which are spoken by the indigenous peoples (about 150 living languages) and others which were imported by immigrants. American Sign Language, used mainly by the deaf, is also native to the country. Hawaiian is also a language native to the United States, as it is indigenous nowhere else except in the state of Hawaii. Spanish is the second most common language in the United States, and is one of the official languages, and the most widely spoken, in the U.S. Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. There are four major regional dialects in the United States: northeastern, south, inland north, and midwestern. The Midwestern accent (considered the "standard accent" in the United States, and analogous in some respects to the received pronunciation elsewhere in the English-speaking world) extends from what were once the "Middle Colonies" across the Midwest to the Pacific states.关于美国旅游英文介绍篇2I get acquainted with them in American New York -- the father and the son,is purely coincidental. That is in New York street, there is a guide to hold the five-star red flag, head a group for the tourist, attracted a large number of Americans. The United States is like the sea stars and stripes. In the United States many many-storied buildings on top of all the year round, flying the stars and stripes. Many Americans at home to hang the stars and stripes,in market stalls on the pending flag, even the sedan car is also affixed to a stars and stripes ......In so many stars and stripes,a rare five-star red flag.I only in the people's Republic of China Consulate General in San Francisco on top and the UN building in New York in front of the square, see the five-star red flag.Because of this,he was in heavy traffic on the streets of New York to lift the five-star red flag, behoove attract millions of people 's eyes.关于美国旅游英文介绍篇3New York City is the most beguiling place there is. You may not think so at first - for the city is admittedly mad, the epitome in many ways of all that is wrong in modern America. But spend even a week here and it happens - the pace, the adrenaline take hold, and the shock gives way to myth. Walking through the city streets is an experience, the buildings like icons to the modern age, and above all to the power of money. Despite all the hype, the movie-image sentimentalism, Manhattan - the central island and the city's real core - has massive romance: whether it's the flickering lights of the midtown skyscrapers as you speed across the Queensboro bridge, the 4am half-life in Greenwich Village, or just wasting the morning on the Staten Island ferry, you really would have to be made of stone not to be moved by it all.None of which is to suggest that New York is a conventionally pleasing city. Take a walk in Manhattan beside Central Park, notably its east side, past the city's richest apartments and best museums, and keep walking: within a dozen or so blocks you find yourself in the lower reaches of Spanish Harlem. The shock could hardly be more extreme. The city is constantly like this, with glaring, in-your-face wealth juxtaposed with urban problems - poverty, the drug trade, homelessness - that have a predictably high profile. Things have definitely changed during the nineties, especially in the recent, Mayor Guiliani years. Crime figures are at their lowest in years and are still dropping (statistically, New York is now one of the country's safest big cities), and renewal plans have finally begun to undo years of urban neglect. But for all its new clean-cut image New York remains a unique place –one you'll want to return to again and again. The city also has more straightforward pleasures. There arethe different ethnic neighborhoods of Lower Manhattan, from Chinatown to the Jewish Lower East Side and ever diminishing Little Italy; and the artsy concentrations in SoHo, TriBeCa, and the East and West Village. There is the architecture of corporate Manhattan and the more residential Upper East and West Side districts (the whole city reads like an illustrated history of modern design); and there is the art, which affords weeks of wandering in the Metropolitan and Modern Art Museums and countless smaller collections. You can eat anything, at any time, cooked in any style; drink in any kind of company; sit through any number of obscure movies. The established arts - dance, theater, music - are superbly catered for, and although the contemporary music scene is perhaps not as vital or original as in, say, London or Los Angeles, New York's clubs are varied and exciting, if rarely inexpensive. And for the avid consumer, the choice of shops is vast, almost numbingly exhaustive in this heartland of the great capitalist dream.。

介绍美国洛杉矶的英语作文简单一点

介绍美国洛杉矶的英语作文简单一点全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Los Angeles - The City of AngelsHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about the amazing city of Los Angeles where I live. It's a huge, exciting place with so many cool things to see and do. Let me give you a tour!First, Los Angeles is right next to the Pacific Ocean. We have incredible beaches with soft golden sand and beautiful blue water. My favorite is Santa Monica Beach where you can walk along the pier, play games at the amusement park, and watch street performers. The sunsets over the ocean are just gorgeous too!Downtown Los Angeles has towering skyscrapers that seem to stretch all the way to the clouds. The US Bank Tower is the tallest building in LA and on a clear day you can see it from really far away. At night, the skyline lights up in a rainbow of colors. It's magical!Have you ever seen a famous movie star? Well Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world, so there's a good chance of spotting a celebrity here. The city is home to huge movie studios like Universal, Warner Brothers, Paramount and more. You can even go on studio tours and see how films and TV shows are made. Hollywood is the heart of the movie biz with the iconic Chinese Theatre and Walk of Fame where stars leave their handprints. So cool! Some of my other favorite parts of LA are the awesome museums we have. The Natural History Museum has massive dinosaur skeletons and the California Science Center has a real Space Shuttle you can go inside! The La Brea Tar Pits are right in the middle of the city and you can see bubbling tar pits where they dug up fossils of prehistoric animals like saber-toothed tigers and woolly mammoths.Speaking of animals, we also have two huge zoos in Los Angeles - the Los Angeles Zoo and the San Diego Zoo which isn't too far away. They have every animal you can imagine from lions and tigers to pandas and gorillas. My favorite is probably the giraffes because they're so tall! And if you love sports, LA has some great teams to cheer for. We have two basketball teams (the Lakers and the Clippers), twobaseball teams (the Dodgers and the Angels), two hockey teams, two soccer teams and even two football teams! The Rams and the Chargers both play here. I'm a big Dodgers fan myself. One really unique thing about Los Angeles is how spread out it is. It's a massive city that seems to stretch on forever in every direction. That's why we have so many cool neighborhoods with their own unique personalities. Some are urban and artsy, others are suburban and family-friendly. My neighborhood has lots of houses with backyards and swimming pools which is awesome in the hot LA sun!No tour of LA would be complete without mentioning the incredible diversity here. People come from all over the world to live in Los Angeles, bringing their customs, food, art and culture with them. You can find neighborhoods like Chinatown, Koreatown, Little Tokyo and more. The different holidays and festivals they celebrate are so much fun to be part of.Well, I could go on and on about Los Angeles but I'm out of space! Just know that it's a fascinating, kid-friendly city with something for everyone. The sunshine, the beaches, the attractions, the diversity - what's not to love? If you ever get a chance to visit, you'll have an amazing time exploring the City ofAngels. Thanks for reading, and hopefully I'll see you around LA someday!篇2Los Angeles: The City of AngelsHi there! My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you all about the amazing city of Los Angeles, or L.A. as some people call it. L.A. is a huge, exciting place in the state of California. It's right near the Pacific Ocean on the west coast of the United States. One of the coolest things about L.A. is the weather. It's warm and sunny there pretty much all year round! Temperatures are usually between 60°F and 80°F (15°C to 27°C). That means you can go to the beach any time you want. The most famous beaches in L.A. are Santa Monica and Venice Beach. At Santa Monica, you can walk along the pier with an ice cream cone and watch people fishing. Venice Beach has a fun boardwalk where you can see street performers, artists, and vendors selling all sorts of neat stuff.L.A. is also famous for the entertainment business. That's where they make tons of movies and TV shows! Some of the biggest movie studios like Universal Studios, Warner Bros., and Paramount are located there. You might even see a celebritywalking down the street. The neighborhood of Hollywood has the iconic Hollywood Sign up in the hills, along with the Walk of Fame where you can see stars with famous actors' names on the sidewalk. If you visit L.A., you have to go to one of the huge theme parks. Disneyland is in the city of Anaheim, about a 30 minute drive from downtown L.A. It's famously known as "The Happiest Place on Earth!" You can meet Mickey Mouse, Cinderella, and other Disney characters. Go on exciting rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. Don't forget to try a Mickey-shaped pretzel or churro while you're there!Another amazing theme park is Universal Studios Hollywood. That's where they have the real movie studios and sets for Universal films. You can go "behind the scenes" on theworld-famous Studio Tour to learn how they make movies. Then you can ride thrilling rides and attractions themed around your favorite movies and TV shows like Transformers, Jurassic World, and Harry Potter.Los Angeles is a huge, spread out city, so there are lots of cool neighborhoods to explore besides just Hollywood. Downtown L.A. has impressive skyscrapers, museums like TheBroad art museum, and incredible food from all different cultures. Little Tokyo has authentic Japanese restaurants and stores.Speaking of food, the food scene in L.A. is out of this world! You can find amazing Mexican food thanks to the city's Hispanic heritage. Some of the best tacos, burritos, and tamales are in East L.A. But there's also incredible Korean BBQ, Chinese dim sum, sushi, Italian, and basically any other cuisine you can imagine. And of course, In-N-Out Burger is a quintessential California fast food chain that started in L.A.For shopping, Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills is one of the fanciest, most expensive shopping areas in the world. You'll find boutiques for designers like Chanel, Gucci, and Louis Vuitton. On the other hand, The Grove is a fun outdoor mall with affordable stores, a trolley to ride, and a dance crew that performs in the evenings. One part of L.A. culture that I have to mention is sports! The city has plenty of major league sports teams that the locals are super passionate about. For basketball, there are the Lakers and the Clippers. For baseball, you've got the Dodgers. And for hockey, there are the Kings. Can you imagine how excited the city gets when one of those teams makes it to the playoffs or wins a championship? As you can probably tell, there is so much to see and do in Los Angeles that it's impossible to get bored. From beaches to movie studios, theme parks to incredible food, sports to shopping...this city truly has it all. It attracts people from all over the world to live, work, and play in the warm California sun. Maybe you'll be lucky enough to visit L.A. someday and experience its magic for yourself!篇3My Trip to Los AngelesLast summer, my family and I went on a trip to Los Angeles, California. Los Angeles is a huge city with so many fun things to see and do. I'm going to tell you all about our amazing vacation!First, we visited some of the most famous beaches in Los Angeles. Santa Monica Beach was my favorite. The sand was soft and warm, and the ocean was a pretty blue-green color. We played in the waves and made sandcastles. I even tried surfing for the first time! It was really hard, but I had a lot of fun.Another day, we went hiking in Griffith Park. It's a massive park with tons of trails to explore. We hiked up to the Griffith Observatory and saw incredible views of the city skyline and the famous Hollywood Sign. The Observatory had cool exhibitsabout space and planets too. After our hike, we had a picnic lunch on the grass.Speaking of Hollywood, we also went on a tour of movie studios! We got to go behind the scenes and see how they film TV shows and movies. We walked through sets of fake houses, cities, and even another planet! Our tour guide told us funny stories about actors and showed us cool props and costumes. My favorite part was getting to ride a little tram cart through an outdoor set made to look like New York City.Los Angeles has some awesome museums too. At the Natural History Museum, we saw real dinosaur skeletons and learned about prehistoric animals. The California Science Center had a space shuttle and an ecosystem with a living rainforest inside! We spent a whole day at the La Brea Tar Pits watching scientists excavate fossils from the sticky tar pits. It was like traveling back in time.Of course, we had to visit Disneyland while in LA! It's the biggest and most famous Disneyland resort. We rode tons of thrilling rides like Space Mountain, Splash Mountain, and the Haunted Mansion. We watched spectacular parades and fireworks shows. I especially loved meeting Mickey, Minnie, and all the other Disney characters. Disneyland was magical! Our trip also included exploring different LA neighborhoods. We drove down Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills, an ultra fancy shopping area. All the stores were selling super expensive jewelry, clothes, and cars. In Hollywood, we walked along the Walk of Fame and saw celebs' handprints in the concrete at the TCL Chinese Theatre. For food, Los Angeles had the most delicious restaurants! We ate incredible Mexican food with fresh guacamole and tacos. We had huge sandwiches loaded with meats and veggies. And of course, we couldn't leave without getting food from an LA food truck - I had an amazing bacon cheddar burger! At night, LA looked gorgeous all lit up. The streets glistened with lights from skyscrapers, billboards, and cars. We took an evening bus tour to see the shimmering high rises of Downtown LA. We could even see the famous Hollywood sign glowing in the distance. Our trip to Los Angeles was jam-packed with fun activities, tasty food, and amazing sights. From the beautiful beaches to the glitzy Hollywood streets, there was never a dull moment. I loved exploring a city with so much energy, diversity, and creativity. LA has something for everyone - movies, music, art, sports, you name it. I definitely want to go back again soon. Maybe I'll even become a movie star someday!。
