My friends and associates perhaps didn't see it. By thegenerally accepted standards, I was "successful," I was head of aprosperous manufacturing concern and led what is usually referred to as an"active" life, both socially and in business. But it didn't seem tome to be adding up to anything. I was going around in circles. I worked hard, played hard, and pretty soon I discovered I was hitting the highballs harderthan I needed. I wasn't a candidate for Alcoholics Anonymous, but to be honestwith myself I had to admit I was drinking more than was good for me. It may havebeen out of sheer boredom.Ibegan to wonder what to do.It occurred to me that I might have gotten myselftoo tightly wrapped up in my job, to the sacrifice of the basic butnon-materialistic values of life. It struck me abruptly that I was being quiteselfish, that my major interest in people was in what they meant to me, whatthey represented as business contacts or employees, not what I might mean tothem. I remembered that as my mother sent me to Sunday school as a boy, andencouraged me to sing in the church choir, she used to tell me that the valueof what she called a good Christian background was in having something to tieto. I put in a little thought recalling the Golden Rule and some of the otherfirst principles of Christianity.

Then the water can be used to water flowers.2. Reduce the number of using water. We’d better wash the family’s clothes together. Starting from the small things to improve the efficiency of water use.3 When we use the toilet bowl, it’s better to use the one which displacement volume is small. Pollution is a problem that is attracting more and more people’s at tention in the world. Give some examples of water pollution and give some suggestions to the solution to the problem.Problem:1 Domestic pollution2 Industrial waste3 Oil pollution4 Radioactive waste5 Underground storage leakages6 Marine dumpingSolution:Take Domestic pollution for example,Toxic products like paints, automobile oil, polishes, and cleaning products should be stored and disposed off properly. As a matter of fact, it is better to produce non-toxic products for the house as far as possible. Non-degradable products like tampons, sanitary napkins, and diapers should not be flushed down the toilet, for these can end up damaging the process of sewage treatment, and usually end up as litter on beaches. Refrain from throwing litter into streams, lakes, rivers, or seas. If you do spot litter on beaches or in water systems, after ascertaining that it is safe, collect them and dispose them off in any nearby waste disposal system.3. Global warming may cause the melting of the ice in the polar areas which may cause a radical change in the global climate. So what can we do about it?we should carry out actions to prevent Global Warming.1 reduce waste. Most products we bury cause greenhouse gas emissions in one or another way, for examples, during production and distribution. By taking our meals in a reusable box instead of a disposable one, we can save energy needed to produce new boxes.2 choose products that come with little packaging and buy refills also help against global warming.3 Taking a shower instead of a bath, which takes up to four times energy than a shower , can maximize the energy saving.4 Plant trees as many as we can, when a single tree can absorb ton-of carbon dioxide over its lifetime and provide shade to help reduce air conditioning.5 Taking the bus, the train, the subway or other forms of public transportation lessens the load on the roads and reduces one's individual greenhouse gas emissions.6 We can extend our positive influence on global warming well beyong our home by actively encouraging others to take action. We can encourage neighbors, supervisors, colleagues, and businesses to recycle more by using recycling bins, composting, etc.4. W ater is indispensible for our life and work; give some examples to illustrate it.Water covers 70 percent of the surface, and about 3 percent of it is drinkable (or potable) water. Our bodies are made up of about 60 to 70 percent water, and if you focus even further on specific organs, our need for continual hydration makes sense. Water acts as a messenger within our systems, carrying nutrients to cells and flushing waste and toxins out of our bodies. It also regulates our body temperature -- when it's too hot outside or we exercise, we sweat. As sweat evaporates, our bodies cool down to a manageable temperature. In the same way a car needs oil to run smoothly, our bodies need water. Just like oil, however, water needs to be replaced. Our bodies lose about 250 milliliters of water every day, and doctors recommend drinking at least eight glasses every day. If we don't, we become dehydrated, leading to headaches, fatigue and lack of concentration. And, although we can survive for weeks without food, it only takes a few days before a lack of water becomes fatal.视频51.W ould you take an active part in the price war if you were a retailer?I think it depends on the scale of my business. If I were a small online retailer,I would have no choice but to join the wave of price cut.In fact , in the price war, without making a profit, it is difficult to sustain.(However), if I were a online giant,I will fully prepare for battle, even initiate new price wars by creating festivals ou of nothing, such as "Double Twelves Festival".2.What is your viewpoint of the price war? Is it a beneficent cycle or vicious cycle?(In my opinion),it is a vicious cycle. As more and more online retailers joining the price war reluctantly or willingly,on one hand,it will cause conflicts with the current online shopping,on the other hand, the price war of such high frequency will hurt the whole industry. For many smaller business, without making a profit, price war would become a battle for survival.3. How can individual retailers maintain their position in the competitive online market? As price war breaking out fiercely, many customs has realized the truth of the price war.It is just a stunt that attractive people to deliver their purchase. So I think the quality of goods and the credit of individual retailers are more important than the price. For instant, many customs are frustrated by the delayed delivery,if you can guarantee your service is on time, you will get some regular customs,of course,if you can bring warmth to customs when you send the goods, it will be better.视频61.What measures do you think should be taken to balance food allocation? "3.Is it possible to change littered food into fertilizer? It is possible. In fact, recycling littered food need a lot of technical support, which includes the relevant equipment and workers.During the littered food processing,it will need a lot of time.In addition, food waste is critical, which increases the difficulty in processing the littered food. The video said:"recycling worker Sun Weihan drives a truck capable of carrying five tons of kitchen waste. He makes two journeys a day. But he says it’s not enough to collect all the kitchen waste from restaurants located on his assigned route." So changing littered food into fertilizer is not equal to we can waste food arbitrarily. In my view, using the least littered food to create the most fertilizer is the best choice.视频71.At the UN Climate Change Conference held in Copenhagen in September,2009, the low-carbon life was mentioned for the first time. Please re-organize these paragraphs by dragging them with your mouse so that they make a coherent text. The third paragraph has already been correctly marked for you.答案:In the first year or so of Web business, most of the action has revolved around efforts to tap the consumer market. More recently, as the Web proved to be more than a fashion, companies have started to buy and sell products and services with one another. Such business-to-business sales make sense because business people typically know what product they're looking for.Nonetheless尽管如此,, many companies still hesitate to use the Web because of doubts about its reliability. "Businesses need to feel they can trust the pathway between them and the supplier," says senior analyst Blane Erwin of Forrester Research. Some companies are limiting the risk by conducting online transactions only with established business partners who are given access to the company's private intranet.Another major shift另一个重大转变in the model for Internet commerce concerns the technology available for marketing. Until recently, Internet marketing activities have focused on strategies to "pull" customers into sites. In the past year, however, software companies have developed tools that allow companies to "push" information directly out to consumers, transmitting marketing messages directly to targeted customers. Most notably, the Pointcast Network uses a screen saver to deliver a continually updated stream of news and advertisements to subscribers' computer monitors.Subscribers用户can customize定制the information they want to receive and proceed directly to a company's Web site. Companies such as Virtual Vineyards are already starting to use similar technologies to push messages to customers about special sales, product offerings, or other events.PART 4 (10 points)Directions: In this part of the test, there is a passage with 10 blanks. For each blank, please choose ONE word or phrase from the list below by dragging it with the mouse to complete the passage.完型答案:The simple act of surrendering a telephone number to a store clerk may not seem harmful—so much so that many consumers do it with no questions asked. Yet that one action can set in motion a cascade of silent events, as that data point is acquired, analyzed, categorized把…归类, stored and sold over and over again. Future attacks on your privacy may come from anywhere, from anyone with money to purchase that phone number you surrendered. If you doubt the multiplier effect, consider your e-mail inbox. If it's loaded with spam, it's undoubtedly because atsome point in time you unknowingly surrendered your e-mall to the wrong Web site. Do you think your telephone number or address is handled differently? A cottage industry of small companies with names you've probably never heard of—like Acxiom or Merlin—buy and sell your personal information the way other commodities like corn or cattle futures are bartered. You may think your cell phone is unlisted, but if you've ever ordered a pizza, it might not be. Merlin is one of many commercial data brokers that advertises sale of unlisted phone numbers compiled收集from various sources—including pizza delivery companies. These unintended, unpredictable consequences that flow from simple actions make privacy issues difficult to grasp, and grapple with. It is hard to deny, however, that people behave different when they're being watched. And it is also impossible to deny that Americans are now being watched more than at any time in history.。

平时要加强动词词汇量的积累.9.(1分)No one be more generous,he has a heart of gold.()A.could B.must C.dare D.need【考点】A6:情态动词.【分析】不可能有谁比他更慷慨了,他有一颗金子般的心.【解答】答案:A根据句意可知此处表示推测:不可能有谁比他更慷慨了;A.could是can的过去式,可用于否定句中表示推测,意为"一定不";B.must表示推测时,意为"一定、准是"通常只用于肯定句;C.dare 敢;D.need 需要;故选:A.【点评】本题考查了could在否定句中表示推测的用法.做类似题时,首先根据句意判断出此处表示推测,然后根据各选项的意义及用法,选出正确答案;因此平时应注意总结并掌握情态动词表推测的用法.10.(1分)In some languages,100 words make up half of all words in daily conversations.()A.using B.to conversations作后置定语,修饰words,words与use之间是被动关系,应该用过去分词used. Don't use words,expression_rs or phrases known only to people with specific knowledge. The bridge built last month needs repairing.上个月建造的那座桥需要修理.11.(1分)It was not until near the end of the letter she mentioned her own plan.()A.that B.where C.why D.when【考点】GC:强调句.【分析】一直到信的结尾他才提到他自己的计划.【解答】答案A. 英语常用的强调结构有:It is (was)+被强调部分(主语、宾语或状语)+that/who…;what…be… It was in London that they met each other for the first time.It is not till yesterday morning that he told me this. It was when he fell asleep that I came back home.我是在他睡着了才回到家.that 前面的部分就是强调的内容.12.(1分)At our factory there are a few machines similar to described in this magazine.()A.them B.these C.those D.ones【考点】55:指示代词.【分析】我们工厂的有些机器和杂志上描述的相似.【解答】答案:C.根据句意可知,所选词是用来代替上文提到的"a few machines"而且其后有后置定语"described in this magazine"修饰,由此可知,此处属于同类中的特指,those是that的复数形式.them用作宾语,指前面所提到过的事或物,these这些,ones泛指,前面的可数名词复数,故选C.【点评】结合句子的意思掌握代词的不同分类,弄清不同代词的用法,在不同的语言环境中灵活运用他们.13.(1分)The water supply has been cut off temporarily because the workers _______ one of the main pipes.()A.had repaired B.have repairedC.repaired D.are repairing【考点】E9:过去完成时.【分析】句意:水供应已暂时被切断,因为工人们正在维修其中一个主管道.【解答】答案D根据has been cut off判断应该是现在的某种时态. 可以根据时间状语或主从句的时态一致原则判断.14.(1分)If he had spent more time practising speaking English before,he _________ able to speak it much better now.()A.will be B.would beC.has been D.would have been【考点】GJ:虚拟语气.【分析】如果以前他花更多时间练习说英语的话,那么现在他英语就会说得更好.【解答】答案B.本题实际上是考查错综时间的虚拟语气.if条件句的虚拟有三种情况:对过去的虚拟,从句用had done,主句用could/would/might+have done;对现在的虚拟,从句用did,主句用could/would/might+do;对将来的虚拟,从句用did/were to do/should+do,主句用could/would/might+do. 这时可以根据时间状语和if条件句虚拟语气中动词的变化形式加以辨别.15.(1分)I want to tell you is the deep love and respect I have for my parents.()A.That B.Which C.Whether D.What【考点】H7:wh﹣引导的主语从句.【分析】我想告诉你的是我深爱我的父母并很尊重他们.【解答】答案:D. D.I have for my parents为一定语从句,修饰先行词the deep love and respect,关系词为that或者which,因为作动词have的宾语,故给省略了. 第二节:完形填空(共1小题:每小题1.5分,满分30分)阅读下面短文,掌握其大意,然后从16~35各题所给出的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项.16.(30分)As More recently, as the Web proved to be more than a fashion, companies have started to buy and sell products and services with one another. For each blank, please choose ONE word or phrase from the list below by dragging it with the mouse to complete the passage. The simple act of surrendering a telephone number to a store clerk may not seem harmful—so much so that many consumers do it with no questions asked.
