Passion

Good morning, honorable judges, ladies and gentlemen,

Today I am very glad to be here and present you my speech, which is about passion.

Someone believe that philosophy is the most important thing for business. But I think, without passion, rules and systems are hopeless. Someone say recruiting people of outstanding ability is more important. But I think without passion, even geniuses will lose their ability.

Tom Osteen, an American who wrote many well-known books on management, ever said, “ Passi on is the source of reaching long-time eminence. Only the person full of passion can succeed in chasing excellence.”

Thus it is clear that people is the greatest resource of an enterprise. But without passion, not a single person of talent can be effective and innovative. So the passion of staff is of great significance and is the greatest motivation of a company.

Now let me share with you my own experience.

When I began working at SINOPEC three years ago, I was assigned a position in a gas station for three months. During that time, I was deeply touched by many scenes. I will always cherish the memory of the stationmaster, who would never forget to greet staff warmly, although she was very busy in dealing with daily business; I saw that the staff always kept their smiles even with sweat pouring down their faces, and always greeted customers with a “welcome”, although they were also busy without a minute to relax. I also cherish seeing the staff always keeping their smile and refueling the cars, although in the face of occasional condemnation and misunderstanding from customers. What made the staff young and old help each other to stay united? What was the source of the good deeds, which always won unanimous praise from customers and the media? What made the gas station full of vitality so as to increase their profits year after year? The answer is they have a strong belief in “lov e China, develop SINOPEC”. The answer is the philosophy of “love your post and love your career” provokes their deep passion of har d work

and turns their passion into action. The gas station is just like a family.

This gas station is the Tianmushan road station, which has won the award of youth model for many successive years. Currently it is the national youth model and the first five-star station of Zhejiang province.

All these touching facts have brought me to the realization that the perfect system and a rational administration are essential traits for success. However, if supervisors cannot at inspire passion or cultivate employees potential, both the company and the staff become stagnant. On the contrary, if supervisors use their positive energy to energize employees, I believe we can achieve administration optimization and SINOPEC will become even more successful.

So, how can we inspire the passion? First, supervisors should administrate the company with enthusiasm in order to exert a profound influence on the employees. Second, employees should be encouraged and praised properly. They should also be given good working prospects and opportunities to develop and improve themselves. Last but not least, SINOPEC should organize extensive task-related trainings and competitions to provide employees more chances to display their talents. Only through that can our enthusiastic supervisors make our company take root in the changing market and the young employees, like joggling branches, adding the vitality.

Looking to the future and facing the sweeping tide of economic globalization, SINOPEC is standing at a crossroad. Our greatest challenge is that the marketplace is to be further opened to overseas competitors, and the competition will be fiercer than ever.

Ladies and Gentlemen, especially our young friends. We youth are enthusiastic, creative and passionate. In the future, let’s work full of passion. We must have the passion to stick to the philosophy of competition and openness, we must have the passion to deepen reform, we must have the passion to improve our company’s competitive ability, we must also have the passion to develop a strategy to build our international brand. Only through that, can SINOPEC be invincible and powerful. Our tomorrow is another day!
