• Lust: It is usually thought of as intense sexual desire, could also mean simply desire in general.
The impurity of lust transforms one into "a slave of the devil". --Henry Edward Manning
According to the standard list, they are pride, greed, lust, envy, gluttony, wrath and sloth, which are also contrary to the seven virtues.
Hale Waihona Puke Baidu
These sins are often thought to be abuses or excessive versions of one's natural faculties or passions. Dante Alighieri: lust, gluttony, and greed- all excessive or disordered love of good things; sloth- a deficiency of love; wrath, envy, and pride are perverted love directed toward other's harm.
• Greed: Differ from lust and gluttony, greed is applied to an artificial desire and pursuit of material possessions.
• Gluttony (Latin, gula) is the overindulgence and overconsumption of anything to the point of waste.
