There are many differences between football and basketball. First, the most obvious difference is the member of players. A football team contains 11 players and there are 4 referees in a football match; a basketball team contains 5 players and there are 3 referees in a basketball match. Second, the rules between the football and basketball match are different. Basketball players use their hands to bounce the ball while football players use their foot and they are forbidden to touch the ball with their hands, except the goalkeeper. Besides, in a football match, once a player fouls, the referee will give him a yellow card or a red card to warn him. If one player owns a red card, he will be disqualified for a foul, however, a basketball player won’t be punished by yellowed card or red card, and he is allowed 5 personal fouls before fouling out. What’s more, a football match can be ended in a draw while a basketball game must have a winner. Third, the game time is also different. The football match game is 90 minutes plus injury time. An Official international football competition is divided into two halves—upper and lower, each contains 45 minutes and there is a half-time, which is no more than 15 minutes, between the two halves. Similarly, an Official international basketball competition is also divided into two halves but each contains 20 minutes. The last difference is the specification of the playing field. wide while the football field is 105 meters long and 68 meters wide, which is larger than the basketball court.
