Lesson941. Experiments have proved that children can be instructed in swimming at a very early age.

1)Instruct vt. Instruct sb. to do sth He was instructed to sail for New York.

2)at a very early age

He is twenty. He is twenty years old.He is a twenty-year-old man.He is aged twenty. (age可用作动词)He is at age twenty. He is at the age of twenty. He is twenty years of age.

He is in his seventies.(从70岁到79岁之间)她五十多岁。

She is in her fifties.(从50岁到59岁之间)2. At a special swimming pool in Los Angeles, children become expert at holding their breath under water even before they can walk.

5. d只有选d. in a friendly way(以友好的方式)才能说明前一句He was a friendly waiter,也合乎语法和逻辑。

而其他3个 a. friend(朋友), b. as friends(作为朋友),c. like friends(像朋友一样)在语法上都讲不通。

所以只有选b.7. ca. the hole 词意思不对;b. the ball 和 d. all of 不合乎习惯用法;英语中不用the all day, all of day 这样一来的短语。

只有选c. all 才能使句中的词组all day 同前一句中的the whole day 意思相同。

Sure that I had passed, I was almost beginning to enjoy my test. The examiner must have been pleased with my performance, for he smiled and said, Just one more thing, Mr. Eames. Let us suppose that a child suddenly crosses the road in front of you. As soon as I tap on the window, you must stop within five feet.I continued driving and after some time, the examiner tapped loudly, Though the sound could be heard clearly, it took me a long time to react. I suddenly pressed the brake pedal and we were both thrown forward. The examiner looked at me sadly. Mr. Eames, he said, in a mournful voice, you have just killed that child!'【课文翻译】我第3次接受驾驶执照考试。

Lesson 96 The dead return亡灵返乡【Text】A Festival for the Dead is held once a year in Japan. This festival is a cheerful occasion, for on this day,the dead are said to return to their homes and they are welcomed by the living. As they are expectedto be hungry after their long Journey, food is laid out for them. Specially-made lanterns are hungoutside each house to help the dead to find their way. All night long, people dance and sing. In theearly morning, the food that had been laid out for the dead is thrown into a river or into the sea asit is considered unlucky for anyone living to eat it. In towns that are near the sea, the tiny lanternswhich had been hung in the streets the night before are placed into the water when the festival is over. Thousands of lanterns slowly drift out to sea guiding the dead on their return journey to the otherworld. This is a moving spectacle, for crowds of people stand on the shore watching the lanternsdrifting away until they can be seen no more.【课文翻译】日本每年过一次“亡灵节”。

因为a.d.

•3.b•因为a.to不对,可以是He went to the theatre;• c.into也不对,可以是He went into the theatre;• d.on更不符合语法,表示在某一个地方用介词in或at,in表示在大的空间,如国家,城市等,at则表示在小的地点或空间,如at the office, at the theatre等,所以选b.

•4.d• b.above(在……上方);• c.aheadof(在……

a.before和d.infront of都是和behind对应的,都有“在……

Where,b.why,d.when提问都不符合逻辑,都不是针对状态提问的,只有How 提问,才能用Angry回答。

•7.d• a.none是代词,很少用在名词前面;• b.any只能用在否定句或疑问句中;• c.notany不符合语法,因为前面没有助动词did.•8.b• a.chair(椅子),c.armchair(手扶椅)d.class(班级)这3个选择都和seat的意思不符合。

Seat
