Western Wedding

A Western wedding is different from Chinese wedding. It is

usually held in a church. The girls and boys want to please their parents. All relatives, friends, and parents are dressed beautifully. It is a most important day in their life and it is unforgettable. They would ever remember it.

1.When does Chinese people get married? Why they choose the date?

The traditional Chinese wedding ceremony is usually not simple. When a new couple is engaged, their parents or they themselves would choose the date of their marriage. Most people would rather a holiday or a special

Chinese festival because those dates are usually more convenient for their relatives and friends. They say that if the wedding takes places on that day the marriage would have “Double Happiness.”

2. What does the Chinese wedding look like?

On that day of wedding, when the bride arrives, fire-crackers are set off and colorful ribbons and small pieces of colored paper are thrown all over the bride and bridegroom. At the wedding, the couples would stand side by side and make three bows to the parents. The wedding ceremony very often ends with a big feast. The people there would wish the couple long life, ever-lasting love, happiness and early birth of a healthy baby and so on.

1 When is your birthday?/When were you born? How do you celebrate your birthday every year?

My birthday is on ……... I celebrate it every year with my family and my friends. Every year, I hold a little birthday party and invite my friends. I have great fun on my birthdays, because on that day, we chat and play a lot of games together. The best part of it is that I love the birthday cake and the gifts I get from my parents and my friends.

I also get some money on my birthday. I can buy what I want with the money. But on the other hand, I also understand that I am 1 year older after each birthday. And that means I should understand more things. Finally, I should be thankful for my parents, I know they have done their best in raising me up.

2 Do you celebrate your birthday every year? Where do you like to celebrate your birthday? (If your answer is ‘at home’, —Why don’t you celebrate it at a restaurant?)

Yes, I celebrate it every year. And I always celebrate my birthday at home every year, firstly because I can invite all my friends and we can chat and play games together for a long time; second it will cost less money and get more fun than in the restaurant. I think most students prefer celebrating their birthday at home.

3 How did you celebrate it last year?( smash the cake on the other's face.) Last year, I had a very interesting party at home with my friends as usual. Mommy ordered a beautiful cake from Hollyland. I invited all my best friends to take part in my birthday party. We met at my home and we chatted with each other and played games together. After that they sang me the birthday song and gave gifts to me. We smashed the cake on each other’s face. I t made me happy. We really had a good time.

4 Do you like to celebrate your birthday alone or with other people? Why?

No one would like to celebrate his birthday alone. As you know, birthday is very important to me and I would like to receive blessings from people, especially from my friends and my parents. So I like to celebrate my birthday with my friends and my parents. If I celebrate birthday alone, I will feel very boring and lonely. I don’t want to be a lonely girl to eat cake with myself.

5. How long did your birthday party last?

It lasted about 2 hours. We chatted with each other, played games together, opened the birthday presents one by one, eat the birthday cake and so on. We felt very happy. My mother prepared us a special dinner and all of us enjoyed a good time.
