Learn the use of the V-ing form as the subject and object.

1. Explanation and inductive methods to make the students master the v-ing form as the subject and object.

2. Individual work or pair work to make every student work in class. Procedures and Time Allotment:

Step1.Greetings and Revision:(2 mins)

Greeting as usual

Step 2.Studying the rule (5 mins)

Read the sentences, paying attention to the V-ing forms. What the function are they?

1) Reading improves the mind._____

2) Watching television can be a waste of time._____

3) Traveling around the world is her dream._

4) You'd better stop smoking.________

5) Some people can't bear listening to the noise._________

6) He kept asking me the same question._____

2)动词-ing形式作主语时,为了保持句子平衡,可以用it作形式主语,而动词-ing 形式则放在后面作真正的主语。如第4、5 、6 句。

2. Verb-ing Form as Object

1)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的法,然后加以总结。

Some people can’t bear listening to the noise.

Would you mind opening the window?

有些动词后只能跟动词-ing形式作宾语,而不能跟动词不定式作宾语。如bear和mind。有此用法的动词还有:admit, appreciate, avoid, bear, consider, delay, deny, enjoy, escape, finish, forbid, keep, mind, mention, permit, quit, risk, suggest advise, imagine, practise, miss, prevent, put off, be worth, insist on, stick to, give up, look forward to, be proud of, feel like, be good at, be sure of, think of, succeed in, have d ifficulty in, can’t help 等等。

2)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的用法,然后加以总结。

Lily remembered giving you the dictionary last afternoon.

有些动词后既可跟v-ing也可跟动词不定式作宾语,但用法和意义都有所不同。这些动词是:remember, forget, stop, regret, try, mean等1)go on to do 接着做(另一件事)go on doing 继续做(同一件事) 2)stop to do 停下来去做 stop doing 停止做3 ) remember to do 记住要做; remember doing 记得曾做过4)forget to do 忘记要做;forget doing 忘了曾经做过 5)regret to do 很遗憾/抱歉地去做; regret doing 后悔做了 6)try to do 努力做;try doing 试着做 7)mean to do 打算做;mean doing 意味着

3)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的用法,然后加以总结。

They don’t allow us to park here.

They don’t allow parking here

在allow, permit, advise等词后如没有提到动作的执行者时,就用v-ing形式作宾语;如提到有关人员时,则不用不定式,其结构为allow/permit/advise doing sth. allow /permit/advise sb. to do sth

4)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的用法,然后加以总结。

The problem needs thinking carefully.

动词-ing形式用在动词need, want, require等后,用动词-ing形式的______形式或者用不定式的被动式表示被动意义。如此句也可用The problem needs to be th ought carefully 表示。

5)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的用法,然后加以总结。

He has some difficulty in findi ng her house.

He is busy preparing for a meeting this afternoon

be busy doing sth., have trouble / difficulty (in) doing sth., be worth doing sth., spend some time / money (in) doing sth., have a hard time (in) doing sth. 都是惯用句型,其中的动词-ing形式不能换成不定式。

6)观察下列句子中动词-ing形式的用法,然后加以总结。

Do you mind my / me / Sally / Sally’s leaving now

★如果要明确表示出动词-ing形式的逻辑主语,要在其前加上物主代词或名词所有格。

7)注:动词-ing形式的否定式是在其前加not或never;

完成式为“having + 过去分词”;

一般式的被动式为“being + 过去分词”;

完成式的被动式为“ha ving been + 过去分词”。
