This is particularly useful for teenagers, who lack of social experience and awareness of self-protection.

Another benefit of crime reporting is that it can deter crime. Would-be offenders understand that there will be consequences if they break the law. So that they are less likely to commit acts of violence. In other words, reporting news about crime can reduce crime rate and enhance social stability.

On the other hand, the extensive media coverage of crime can frighten people and can sometimes give rise to a climbing crime rate. This is particularly true for impressionable adolescents, who lack self-control and do not realise legal consequences of violent acts.

In conclusion, newspapers give us valuable information, but sometimes news reports can distort truth and we may make wrong decisions because of this.
