And, with our “easy mode” setting, you no longer need to be a genius to programme and experience the operational benefits of our LE product range – total Speed, Force and Positioning Control.
SMC´s new “easy” electric actuator products: Recently we have launched four electric actuator products to join our existing electric and electro-pneumatic actuator ranges – our LE+ Series.
Three performance features which are often used when describing the benefits of electric actuation.
Actuator - typically a mechanical device that takes energy, usually transported by air, electric current, or liquid, and converts that into some kind of motion. (Information source - Wikipedia)
actuator excessively abrupt • the weight of air operated grippers higher than you would
like • that you need multiple types and sizes of air operated
actuators in your application/s • complications when fitting multiple auto switches to your
application/s • experience high machine noise due to the constant
venting of compressed air
If these problems sound familiange of electric actuators can now provide you with an ideal solution.
FORCE - the influence that produces a change in a physical quantity (force = mass x acceleration)
POSITIONING CONTROL - a type of control system designed for moving objects or machines to a known position or multiple positions (often linked to the noun – precision)
Why do we refer to them as “easy” electric? Unlike similar products, these electric actuator ranges are extremely easy to programme.
Simply by selecting the “Easy Mode” setting option, your selected actuator will be operating efficiently and effectively within minutes of opening the box.

Electric Grippers LEHZ•LEHF•LEHS
Electric Slide Table LES
Electric Actuator/ Rod Type LEY
Electric Actuator/ Slider Type LEF
SMC´s new “easy” electric actuator products
• Series LEY - a rod type electric actuator • Series LEF- a slider type electric actuator • Series LES - a slide table electric actuator • Series LEH - a range of electric actuator grippers

Controller LEC
Programming Concepts
A new generation of electric actuators to meet all your application needs
The new range of electric actuators LE series add the simplicity of use to the conventional benefits of electric actuators.
Speed, Force and Positioning Control
Do you suffer from: • poor workpiece detection • constant workpiece breakage • high rejection rates due to workpiece marking • on-going gripper finger breakages • increased operational downtime for constant
Electric Actuators Speed, Force and Positioning Control
SPEED, FORCE and POSITIONING CONTROL
SPEED - a rate (usually rapid) at which something happens
Unofficially we call it our “programming made simple approach” to electric actuation - which we believe will definitely help to dispel some the mystery surrounding this activity.
So are electric actuators better than air operated pneumatic options?
The simple answer – it completely depends on the application!
When selecting either pneumatic or electric actuators for your automation control needs, the application and its specific location will ultimately help determine your selection.
SMC solutions – electric actuators
Problems programming your electric actuator?
Easy setting electric actuators – delivering outstanding speed, force and positioning control
maintenance or corrective component adjustment
Do you find: • difficulties in controlling the actuator speed and
acceleration • the impact at the end of the stroke of an air operated
application/s • physical challenges in accommodating pneumatic air-
lines in your application/s
Do you currently: • require a high inventory of component stocks for your
Smooth acceleration and de-acceleration, controlled gripper force and accurate, repeatable, multi-positioning, are just a few key performance benefits you will enjoy by selecting a SMC electric actuator for your application/s.
Both technologies have a number of advantages and disadvantages.
In summary
Pneumatic Actuators: • are relatively inexpensive to purchase • offer longer life ( in terms of cycles) • are excellent for end to end continuous motion
Quieter than an air operated actuators and cleaner in operation, our complete LE range of electric actuators offer excellent performance, outstanding reliability and unbelievable precision and accuracy.
synchronized motion and speed and force control • don´t require compressed air to operate
Our complete product catalogue, which now contains over 11,000 basic products, has been specifically developed for factory automation and process industry needs. As world leaders, we have developed a comprehensive range of pneumatic and electric actuators to meet even the most challenging of applications and our experts are always on-hand to provide you will their experienced guidance and advice.
applications • offer high speed and high force capacities • are relatively easy to understand and maintain • don´t require complicated programming
Electric Actuators: • offer higher levels of accuracy and repeatability • are cleaner, smoother and quieter • provide true motion control – multi positioning,
