Unit 4 Wildlife Protection How Daisy Learned to Help WildlifeDaisy had always longed to help endangered species of wildlife. One day she woke up and found a flying carpet by her bed. “Where do you want to go?”it asked. Daisy responded immediately. “I’d like to see some endangered wildlife,” she said. “Please take me to a distant land where I can find the animal that gave fur to make this sweater.” At once the carpet flew away and took her to Tibet. There Daisy saw an antelope looking sad. It said, “We’re being killed for the wool beneath our stomachs. Our fur is being used to make sweaters for people like you. As a result, we are now an endangered species.” At that Daisy cried, “I’m sorry I didn’t know that. I wonder what is being done to help you. Flying carpet, please show me a place where there’s some wildlife protection.”The flying carpet traveled so fast that next minute they were in Zimbabwe. Daisy turned around and found that she was being watched by an elephant. “Have you come to take my photo?”it asked. In relief Daisy burst into laughter. “Don’t laugh,” said the elephant, “We used to be an endangered species. Farmers hunted us without mercy. They said we destroyed their farms, and money from tourists only went to the large tour companies. So the government decided to help. They allowed tourists to hunt only a certain number of animals if they paid the farmers. Now the farmers are happy and our numbers are increasing. So good things are being done here to save local wildlife.”Daisy smiled. “That’s good news. It shows the importance of wildlife protection, but I’d like to help as the WWF suggests.”The carpet rose again and almost at once they were in a thick rainforest. A monkey watched them as it rubbed itself. “What are you doing?” asked Daisy. “I’m protecting myself from mosquitoes,” it replied. “When I find a millipede insect, I rub it over my body. It contains a powerful drug which affects mosquitoes. You should pay more attention to the rainforest where I live and appreciate how the animals live together. No rainforest, no animals, no drugs.”Daisy was amazed. “Flying carpet, please take me home so I can tell WWF and we can begin producing this new drug. Monkey, please come and help.” The monkey agreed. The carpet flew home. As they landed, things began to disappear. Two minutes later everything had gone –the monkey, too. So the Daisy was not able to make her new drug. But what an experience! She had learned so much! And there was always WWF…。

Unit 4 wildlife protection How Daisy Learned to Help Wildlife Reading Good morning, teachers. I am NO. 86. The title for my lesson plan is the reading of wildlife protection,How Daisy Learned to Help Wildlif e. Today, I will explain my plan from the following aspects: first, analysis of the teaching material; second, saying about the teaching aims; third, saying about teaching difficult points; fourth, saying about teaching methods and learning methods; fifth, saying about teaching aids; sixth, saying about teaching procedures; seventh, saying about blackboard design. The following is my details.1.The analysis of the teaching material. This lesson is a reading course. Students can improve their reading skills and learn more about wildlife protection. At the same time, we should get students to understand some difficult words and expressions.Students can get some moral education. Let students understand how important it is to protect the wildlife.2.Teaching aims.(1)Knowledge aim: master the new words and expressions through reading.(2)Ability aim: improve reading skills.(3)Emotional aim: make students love nature and do something to protect wildlife. Ⅲ. teaching difficult and important pointsKey points:Reading and understanding the text.Difficult points:Lack of vocabulary; seldom use English in communication.Ⅳ. teaching methods and learning methodsThe new course reform requires the teacher to care about more about learning of the students. That means our teacher not only need to pay much attention to knowledge learning, but also care more about the psychological and moral senses of the students. The teacher should care not only how to teach, but also make student know how to learn by themselves. For this reason, my design idea is using task-based teaching method. Specifically, students are required to use skimming to find main idea and scanning to find key information. Also, students need to read the passage in limited time and finish some tasks for their comprehension. For language points, senior 2nd students have very strong abilities in receiving and conclude knowledge, I will use deductive methods to teach some sentence structure, and use inductive methods to conclude the usage of some words and phrases. I will compare some similar words, phrases, and make students have a clear distinction about their usage.Ⅴ.Teaching AidsFor reading, it requires teacher has a very good preparation. So, I first design some tasks on my handouts. Second, I will design a table to conclude the main idea of the passage and main idea of every parts of the passage. Besides, I will prepare some questions for students to answer after they have finished reading. So the teaching aids include handouts, a table for reading, excises for language points, textbook, chalks, and blackboard.Ⅵ.Teaching ProceduresTeaching steps:Revision, warming up, pre-reading, reading, and after-reading.1.RevisionRead the words together. Ask students to close their books and show some English words of this lesson.2.Warming-up(1)Show some pictures of wildlife.(2)Turn to page 25.Read the progress in saving endangered wildlife in China.(3)Have students discuss:List more endangered animals. What can we do to protect wildlife?3 Pre-readingLook at the pictures of the animals that appeared in the text. And read the title. Then predict the content.4..ReadingRead the passage and find out the main idea through fast reading.Finish the chart through intensive reading.5After-reading(1)Deal with the language problems on the basis of understanding the passage.(2)And review some language points by free talk. That is to make a dialogue between Daisy and the animals.6HomeworkReview the passage.Pick out the sentences with present progressive passive voice.Ⅶ.Blackboard designA good blackboard needs to reflect the main contents of the class in the simplest design. Also, it should present teachers’ competent in art and it should initiate students interest. For that, I will divide the blackboard into two parts. The left part be used as the main parts, which includes the contents of the structure of the passage, main idea, important words and phrases, etc. the right part will be used as assistant. It mainly includes some words which the students can not write down and some discussion the students have made.。

《Unit 4 Wildlife Protection Reading How Daisy learned to help wildlife》教学设计一教材分析(analysis of teaching material)本课选自人民教育出版社高一英语必修 2 Unit 4 Wildlife Protection Reading How Daisy learned to help wildlife本单元向我们介绍了保护野生动物的重要性和必要性。
